The Saint Seiya characters are now basically mahou shounen >_>

I think that's basically Toei's plan for this show. If this is successful, we'll likely get a direct sequel and then yearly AUs, using the same basic concepts but with completely unrelated stories, basically turning SS into Pretty Cure for boys.

Living in the shadow of Amaz
You're right - it is moving on. Basically, her mother was worried that Jintan would be stuck on her after she died. Menma's death just made him worse... and so, the whole thing she wanted was to be able to help him move on with his life while keeping the memory of his mother in mind. It's exactly what happens with Menma's family and ultimately, it's what happens with Jintan. It's why it ends with him going back to school, after all. Then there's the fact that the flower is called the "Forget-me-not".

For all the show's structural problems, the ending was so inevitable that I don't get people who thought her wish was as literal as
having Jintan laugh/cry or whatever it was.

Well, I guess you're right, in a way. But she wished for that
before she died... The events did make everyone eventually move on, but only by "accident". But I guess she could see everyone after she was dead and came back to cause that "accident"... Yeah, I'm ok with that.

After all that messing around, I found the final revelation of the actual wish rather underwhelming.

That's exactly how I reacted.

Wait, this is... What is...

Oh.

Oooh.

Definitely the best episode of the show so far. I wonder if they'll keep this bleaker tone or soon switch back to yuri hijinks and slice of life again. I still think it's odd how no one on Earth seems to think much of robots fighting and aliens invading.

See. I read this before watching the finale of Ano Hana and it made the ending so much better by comparison.

To be fair, until
it hit the field and they shot at the city, in the last episode they end up distancing the Pharos very far from the mainland, not to mention they're up in the atmosphere. When the shit got closer though, duuuuuude.
But yeah, I also agree till that happened anyways. At the very least you'd be able to see the lights and shit flying.

This show is pretty hilarious. It's hard to describe it in words really. It's just way out there.

She knew she would die and she basically told a child to help her son get over it. Perhaps that's more bad parenting than anything else. :p

Highschool of the dead is amazing in its own...special way

I actually just watched the first two episodes of this, and it's pretty amusing so far. I mean, zombies, zombies, cleavage, underpants, zombies, zombies, CHECK OUT WHAT WE CAN DO WITH OUR CAMERA IN THIS CG SETTING ZOOM, underpants, zombies, jiggling clothed boobs with 'boing' sound effects, zombies.

Dumb as hell, but entertainingly dumb. About what I'd expect from a show I'm watching solely because of the ridiculousness of that bullet-time boob .gif.

You should really take notice of what shows people are raving about for every season. I see you missing out more hnnngh than ever.

Ah My Goddess: The Adventures of the Mini-Goddess 43-48
And, we're done!
Good set of episodes to close this off though. I love it when shows smash the 4th wall into pieces, the Super Real Life game returns, a dating sim rat game and I learn about trains. For all the grief I gave this show, I really did enjoy it. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't marathon-ing it, but how else can I finish through my backlog.

Work is pretty much all I do anymore. Its rare that I have some free time to really watch anything in an appreciable manner. When I do have free time I am usually too tired and fall asleep in the middle of it.
On the plus side I do have more than enough extra cash to buy whatever show I happen to want.

Based on the preview at the end of episode 10 I had a misconception about the
other loli that would appear in this episode. I also thought that she was a guy.
The episode was nice, and I don't mind the more relaxed pacing this show has, but I also wish each episode was packed with more events being resolved.

I'd say it's just mostly a result of her characters not acting like believable people and just acting according to whatever the plot needs.

I've always had a problem with this kind of statement. I mean on one hand some anime characters act completely oblivious to consequences. They do seemingly stupid shit without thinking and wreak havoc because of it. But couldn't it also be that the character's society in the story just happens to behave in a particular way? I mean it doesn't always have to be how a normal person would behave. It's kind of fun when they do something unexpected or stupid that throws the plot in all sorts of directions. That's what makes trainwreck shows so much fun!.

Not everything has to be constructed like 19th-century naturalistic fiction. We post-20th century readers/viewers can accept stories that sketch characters rather than drawing them in detail, and that jump quickly from event to event, rather than hand-holding us through everything.

It depends on what kind of show it is. A comedy or something with a strange premise/setting is one thing, but if you are making a drama set in contemporary Japan, I'd say making the characters act like believable people is pretty important if you want the audience to care about and sympathize with them. Ano Hana became pretty funny at the end, but I don't think that was Okada's intention. Or compare the writing of the BRS OVA and TV show. In the OVA the main characters in the normal world have a believable and well developed relationship and it makes the OVA work. While the crazy and nonsensical actions of the characters in the TV show ruin the show for non-comedic purposes.

Can someone explain why Pandora's Boxes are so important? I know nothing about the series.
It was their symbol of status, their soul. Showed their servitude as warriors, as they first fight for gaining something they always had to carry afterwards like a penitent, protecting it with their life if necessary...

Now it will be a suddenly materialized, unobtrusive magic jewel, or something.

That was pretty action packed, and it seems like they are finally ready to reveal some actual plot as well regarding the history of the Vox. Next appears to be more action as well, looking forward to more explosions and lasers and shit.
