I took issue with you calling the writing in Prometheus "terrible"
Except I didn't do that. I was talking about the trailers and viral videos, not the movie.
I then took issue with you coming to the conclusion that Lindelof is a hack, implying that his work on Lost took no imagination to create (which is 100% subjective to say)
Good thing I didn't say anything about that, then!
I call him a hack because he writes profoundly stupid-yet-pretentious nonsense and shows utter contempt for his audience.
(debatable? well, good news: I believe I already explained myself at lengths over in the
Lost topic, which seems to be a far more fitting place to debate this further)
No matter what body of evidence you may have gathered towards Lindelof's hackery on Lost, I believe that without that experience tainting your opinion of him, you would never have entered this thread to criticize the writing in the trailer for Prometheus.
Well, that's just, like, your personal biases tainting your opinion of me, man.
(See how easy that is?)
This because there is so little actual writing evident in it that it would not have drawn your ire without his name being attached.
Among other things, I'm concerned about Lindelof being involved, yes. And as it happens, what little dialogue I've heard in the viral videos and the trailers sounded pretty bad and typical of the guy's work.
But hey, never mind that, right? I should just assume the rest is awesome and/or keep my observations for myself while everybody else is losing bladder control over how awesome the movie s going to be.
Special rules!
Well, pardon my first language, but fuck that.
I don't think you were biased against Lindelof when you argued against the writing in Lost. I think you are biased against Lindelof now for arguing against the small sample of writing in this trailer.
I like how you keep calling that a "bias" when it's simply a matter of experience regarding the guy... It's all in the spin, I guess.
Nope, I didn't know him before
Lost, and yep, I believe I have identified what sucked about his work then, and I'm already seeing it again in what little we've seen so far... Patterns, how the fuck do they work?
Is that a judgment on the final movie? No,
because it's not out yet, duuur. I'm commenting on what's out right now,
just like everybody else is.
All I ever meant was that this is unfair.
About as "unfair" as you saying that there's no way in hell you could not be satisfied by the movie based on a couple of trailers and
because Ridley Scott, then (probably less so, actually, as I never claimed I would definitely be disappointed).
Not exactly the first time I point that out, but hey...
Are we done, now?
