The meetup seemed like a rather odd and boring excuse to setup the final showdown. They could have skipped a few things and it would still have the same effect. I guess they did it for the yaoi doujins that will inevitably pop up now.

Rest of the episode was great though. Very clearly building up to an epic season finale with more at stake than any other puzzle in the show. Rook is all kinds of crazy.

You liked
them both getting killed like that by Lelouch?
I thought that ending was sort of stupid considering that those two were, at one point,
the best assassins. Getting killed like that is just... ahhh I still have a bitter taste in my mouth for that ending.

Well, I’m of the mindset that
Erin killed Reiji and went about her life.

Erin was just using Reiji to gain her memories back and once she got them she had no use for him anymore. She was able to shoot Scythe at the end and if she was able to kill him when he was unarmed what’s to stop her from shooting Reiji? Then there’s her whole position while lying in the grass at the end. She had her legs and arms spread out, that’s not a position she would have fallen into if she were shot in the back while crouching and touching a flower. As for Reiji not noticing she was going to shoot him, well Erin was obviously the better assassin. In that final fight Reiji got his ass kicked, Erin didn’t have a scratch on her. You can argue that Erin knew her attackers better because they were basically her but the same would go for Reiji, seeing how Erin trained him and everything.

That’s just how I see it and I’m sure there are a billion holes in that theory but that’s the conclusion I came to.

This show is fucking insane and I love it.

More questionable attire, beach episode, the end of summer, inner monologues of strange intent and pissed off high school girls who feel this whole thing is just wrong.

SO much awesome.

I'm ready for more adventures with Literature girl though.

I've heard pretty damn good things about this movie but none of them could prepare me for just how amazing it was, not only was the film filled to the brim with incredibly charming characters (especially Marco!) but the animation was fantastic, especially the mechanical animation which stood out to me due to the increasing lack of that kinda stuff nowadays. This is easily my favourite Miyazaki Ghibli work and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't yet had the pleasure of experiencing such a fantastic film!

Claim your crown, cajun.

The Light of El Cantare
I know that I predicted when Rinne first began that
Madoka's MARU! in the OP actually WAS shattering and recreating the universe and that it wasn't just a pretty visual.
I might actually be right, hahahah.

Ponyo is enjoyable because it knows its limits. It doesn't make a mess of things with a convoluted, disjointed plot like Howl's.

Plus Howl's has one of the worst movie endings of all time. Scarecrow Ex Machina.

Howl's is the only major Miyazaki movie I've only seen once. It just... made so little goddamn sense to me that I never bothered to rewatch it.

Yurumates OVA

Lousy Flash animation, but the misadventures of these slightly psychotic apartment-mates were amusing in a laid-back way. I might check out the upcoming TV anime, especially since it'll be real 2D animation this time.

at least he was somewhat creative (in the loosest sense) with his
shitty deus ex machina.

it's probably for the best to keep it that away.

Well the big problem is Miyazaki wants to write about war being bad, but that has nothing to do with the main character. It's almost like two different movies had a head-on collision.

Aw poor Jin. Im really hoping for plot for next episode he actually
doesnt take Yunoha back. It would be nice if he defected on account of his developing feelings for her and she gives him the benefit of the doubt and such. Its hard to see him as an antagonist like Kagura, truth be told, and like Andy, I want to see him union. Be cool if he and her fought against Kagura, who I hope actually gets something in the end.

Amata's flying never gets old still and the near pajama party, oh andy.

Ponyo, ugh, can go fall off a cliff by the sea for all I care.

Wait...didn't come out right.

But seriously, one of my absolute least favorite Ghibli.

Another sakuga episode. After an intense battle with the bad guy to foil his lard spirit bomb, he is forced to transform into the Lard God. Quality action comedy on display. Truly the secret best show of the season, if only more people watched it :(. Milky homies are so few in this thread.

Also Golgo reappears again!

Poor Hosoda was rejected by Ghibli not once but twice in his life ;_;

The furry movie is gonna be a real test for his directorial prowess.

it has joined the likes of oshii's lupin movie, kon's dreaming machine and
ABe & co's despera
:(

No, it's even lower than those. At least we can imagine what those might be like, with Howl's we'll always have Miyazaki's senile vision overwriting our imagination.

Oh shit. A CHALLENGER APPROACHES.

Ringo, you are better than the other Ringo. She's pretty rad, but you got this shit.

Literature girl, you've got competition. Let's see who comes out on top!

And yes, Ringo, I can understand you screaming right there. That was pretty frightening.

ALso, it appears that
Ringo is pretty angry about the guys getting their own show!

Furthermore, K-ON be warned because THIS IS LIGHT MUSIC.

Are you me? :p

I like SYD too but it recycles it's jokes a bit too much. Although not as much as Baka to Test or Ika Musume, half due to its virtue of having an always expanding cast. I still enjoy all of them though. Nichijou's just on a different level.

This is true, the one real flaw with Seitokai Yakuindomo is that it does recycle its jokes a lot, and they do get old after a while. The series is still good enough that I've read/watched all of it that's out there, but it does get repetitive somewhat. But I always liked American newspaper comics when I was younger, so I can take some joke repetition and still like something... I like Garfield, for example. :)

Both aren't spectacular to be honest. Decent enough for a few laughs but not Nichijou or Daily Lives of High School Boys level.

Neither is nearly as great as Nichijou, sure, but I would say that Yakuindomo is far, far better than Ichizon, that was my point. They are very far from comparable.

Fuse - A girl gunslinger's detective story

Original Author: Sakuraba Kazuki (Gosick)
Director: Masayuki Miyaji (Xam'd)
Script: Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass)

New theatrical anime for Fall 2012.

Gosick, Xam'd, and Geass? That doesn't sound too promising... but we'll have to see. You never know.

This was sort of announced in 2010. It's based on one of Sakuraba's novels which is a spinoff of the epic Hakkenden story.

Maybe Gosick was better in literary format than it was on TV -_-

Hmm... on that last point, on the one hand the biggest thing wrong with Gosick was the plot and writing, but on the other hand the anime DID make some things worse versus the manga version; the first episode of the anime was ridiculously stupid, for example, the worst episode of the first eighteen, but the manga version of that part was far more sane. If the original LNs are more like the manga version, then the anime's writing would be part of the culprit.

Of course, I don't know how the manga or LNs treat the part I had the biggest problem with in the anime -- episode 19 and then the final arc, pretty much -- but... maybe? Or maybe not, I don't know.

Please Teacher! (END)

So I'm watching Please Teacher! and Please Twins! to sort of prep myself as Ano Natsu comes to a close. I don't know which one I watched first, Ano Natsu or Please Teacher! but I promptly dropped both after their first episodes. Of course, GAF's explosion over Ano Natsu 9 convinced me to pick it back up again and now that I've watched it all the way up to that episode, I wanted to find out what to expect with Yosuke Kuroda's other works. Especially considering the similarities between Ano Natsu and Teacher!

In comparison to Ano Natsu, Kei gives me a better appreciation for Kaito. This guy is just
annoying to watch for the sheer majority of Please Teacher! As slow at Kaito is, at least
he doesn't do some of the stupid crap that Kei does. But then, Please Teacher! earns points for moving the story alone faster. Ano Natsu took nine episodes to get somewhere. Meanwhile in Teacher,
confessions were being put out in the open, hookups were happening
. There was a lot of stuff going on and I liked that. I'm gonna start with Please Twins! now and see if this-

Please Twins! 5

I never asked for this.

Please Twins! (END)

http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/198/010/tysonreaction.gif

I've made a huge mistake. What I thought was going to be some mystery-harem of them investigating who was related started teetering into
incestville
.

If I had to rank the three then it'd probably go as follows:
1. Please Teacher!
2. Ano Natsu
3. Please Twins!

I like Kazami better than Ichika because Kazami knows what she wants and she really-

Please Twins! OVA

OMG
KEI
FINALLY SPOKE! THAT LITTLE POS FINALLY SAID SOMETHING! BEST OVA EVAHHHHHHHHHH.
You did watch the Please Teacher OVA too, right? The two OVA episodes are the best episodes of the franchise, they really are... for the most part it's a pretty bad franchise that I didn't like very much (despite watching all of both seasons plus the OVAs), but the OVAs are better than the TV animes at least.

As for Please Twins, I didn't hate it, really. It does border on that as you say, but doesn't actually do it.
Though from what I've heard, apparently in the original source, maybe the other girl is the sister from how it goes in the anime, so the situation was basically reversed? I'm not sure about that though.

Gunslinger Girl is a much more tasteful exploration of the subject than the other two.
Not that the other two contained anything that could be described as "tasteful" to begin with >_>

I think that it would be better to simply say that the first season of Gunslinger Girl is tasteful, period.

But that's not true. Somewhere out there, there is a complete set of storyboards for Hosoda's Howl's Moving Castle. Some day maybe the script will turn up too. There are scans for several pages of the storyboards that you can find online, it gives a decent idea of how the movie would have looked at least, including his design of the castle.

We'll never get to see Hosoda's vision for Howl's :(

Thank god we dodged that bullet.

Howl's a far better movie then that piece of shit "girl who leapt through time" and "summer warzzzzz"

Hosoda has become the M. Night Shyamalan of anime with digimon being his "the sixth sense" and ""girl leapt throught time" being his "the happening".

Hosoda lost it
