Simpsons, then Bert & Ernie

South Park and Smurfs

Donald Duck and Nephews, and Asterix & Obelix.

That is what I see at least.

Very cool indeed.

It's cool I'm just messing with you.

Town Hall looks too similar to Fire Brigade IMO. I think it needs another building in between them.

Once I get more modulars, I will mess with the order of them and see what looks cool. I will probably separate the Pet Shop just to shake things up.

I keep trying to figure out how to have a large display space, but I live in an apartment and have two cats. My Millenium Falcon is on top of my subwoofer, which is a normal kitty hangout, and it is still untouched by them. I am feeling rather safe about possibly leaving Tower Bridge on top of the table by our window instead of banishing it to the small bookcase in the second bedroom.

Well I disassemble my bigger sets after a while (simply because I run out of space), so I'm working with a stupidly small amount of space. As soon as my fiancé and I move in together and go to a larger place, I'll be having a nice little nook for my toys, haha.

I will probably disassemble the TIE Fighter, X-Wing, and Falcon soon. Of course, those fit easily around my television. The Imperial Shuttle is too sexy looking to take apart anytime soon. And it fits exceptionally well on top of my equipment rack.

My space concerns are coming in with adding modulars and once Tower Bridge arrives. The sheer size of Tower Bridge makes just finding a place to put it a major challenge.

It's very long. Very very long, ha. That's the main reason I took it apart for now. It's not too wide/deep, so you can easily fit a few smaller displays in front of it no problem. That's the big benefit to that one regarding display!

And, based upon looking at the instructions, I can just as easily detach the bridges on each side and display just the towers together if I really want to save space. And also ruin the impact of the model...

If space is a huge concern, yeah - you can do that. But you're correct in that you lose the magic of the cables swooping down from the towers (one of the coolest parts of the model in my opinion).

Alright guys. The deed is done. I got me a nice X-wing and a Millennium Falcon. Going to take this beauty to my classroom and see if I can spark some interest on the kids. I'll shove in some math in there and see if they buy it.

Enough Legos for me....for now. Next weekend the lady and I agreed on visiting the Lego store and pick something nice..... Death Star perhaps? Star Destroyer? Who knows.

I'm only missing C3P0.... looks like I got all the important characters from the original trilogy.

Oh well.

See you guys later!

Depending on the age of the kids, you probably won't have an issue sparking their interest! :) Not to mention, I can only imagine how much fun you could have working Lego into math lessons.

E: I can't help but stare at the shot monkey. It sort of grabs my attention over the Lego in those pictures, haha.

I'd recommend Star Destroyer over the Death Star, but the Death Star is amazing if you want more minifigs.

I don't build Star Wars, but DrForester speaks the truth. Someone (maybe you DrForester...) made a comment earlier in this thread about having built both and preferring the SSD. Ignoring that comment, in terms of playability vs display, SSD is easily the more attractive model for display. Playability (and minifig count) goes to Death Star.

Protip - Bricklink a C3P0 and be done with it. :P

Death Star yields you an insane amount of mini figs and lots of playability. Super Star Destroyer yields you an obscenely large model, looks amazing, but has little playability. Unless you are wanting to buy both and crash the SSD into the Death Star.

I would recommend getting Droid Escape (9490) for a C-3PO. It's the newest version and only available in that set. Colored wires, yo.

Plus, you get those badass Sandtroopers too.

That video pains me, haha

If you really want a C3PO minifig, grab the new Droid Escape set,it's small, it's cheap, and comes with the new 3PO figure that looks a lot better than the old one (that will come with Death Star).

my son has a bunk bed (from when our kids were sharing) and I've boarded over the bottom bunk so it can be used for lego display - I think that'll become 'modular town' with the houses at the back and space for a road and his vehicles in front.

That way downstairs gets freed up a little, but I still don't think I have space for the Imperial shuttle *and* tower bridge.

to the minifig talk - I am disappointed the imperial shuttle didn't come with any Royal Guards. Feel I need to buy some now.

That's great! I would have loved to see Lego in school when I was a kid. What age are your students?

If the Falcon can do a Kessel run in 12 parsecs & each parsec is 3.26 light years, how fast did Lando Calrissian betray Han Solo?

No new job for me. =\ But I picked up the Y-Wing on sale at TRU anyway. I needed something to cheer me up. (I thought the job was in the bank after HR told me that two different departments were arguing over who's team I should be on.)

Anyhow.

Anyone got a surgeon minifig for sale/trade? I followed those bump codes, bought 7 little guys and not one was the surgeon one.

Got these in the mail just now at the office.

I'm really excited to build them and see how the go and display. For $45 shipped (Amazon Prime <3), I figured it couldn't hurt to at least see what I think of them!

It's pretty easy to find the instructions for Nanoblocks online. Might try building Tokyo Tower out of Lego. There also seems to be no correlation between price and piece count.

got any links? I have some loose piece nanoblocks (mono black/white set) and they don't come with any instructions at all, just a few pictures for inspiration. managed to build the piano from that though.

Also have

- space shuttle
- tokyo shrine gate
- tokyo skytree
- tokyo tower

My partner and I bought our first LEGO set together today. It's been at least a dozen years since I even touched a piece of LEGO, as well as for her, so the bad feelings of it being an impulse buy disappeared as soon as we opened it up. Nothing special, just the 7498 Police Station, 7741 Police Helicopter, and a 7235 Police Motorcycle.

But after she played around with it for a while she wanted to grab some more straight away, insisting on grabbing the Fire Station and a few others, but I think we'll wait a bit more and maybe try to grab some non-service City sets first. I also want to grab some of the Kingdoms stuff but I see that they are starting to do a LOTR set so I'm a little apprehensive that they won't put as much effort in to Kingdoms when LOTR will undoubtedly sell more.

It is the beginning of the end!

Well I just went here while looking for UK prices:

The recent kingdoms/castle stuff was pretty good though. But yeah there's no new lego castle iteration this year because lotr fills their medieval stuff quota.

Urge to buy Nanoblocks... rising.

Can't see any sets I'd really like, though.

I'd been looking at them for a few months, but something clicked and I finally felt like I just needed to try them. My office display is fun, but I can't put some of the larger more exciting creations in due to size constraints. The Nanoblocks are the most basic of pieces to create some really neat models.

They obviously won't be a Lego replacement, but more a Lego alternative when I feel like something new. I really want the Panda that someone posted earlier. :| And I've also yet to discover a price/piece correlation. I sincerely hope it stays that way - again, the three sets I bought cost me $45 shipped. There's around 1200 pieces there, so I'd venture to say it's a good deal in that regard.

Don't be too proud of that plastic technological terror you constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

Your sad devotion to that ancient religion hasn't helped you efficiently organize your spices and oils in your pantry, or given you clairvoyance enough to find the soy sauce packets that were misplaced in 2010.

Started my Nanoblock Eiffel Tower over lunch...PICTURE TIME.

Setup for build. I have a pair of tweezers in case - the small 1x1 pieces are SMALL. Like, smaller than a mini chocolate chip. :P If you've ever played with Buckyballs, they're slightly smaller a single ball.

The instructions. You have to pay attention to what you're doing for sure. Surprisingly easy to follow, though.

Just a few pieces on the table.

More pieces on said table.

Finished step one. Everything fits and snaps quite well!

Step two. The tree in the foreground is a bit crooked, but that's my fault. The way the tree is assembled is quite ingenious - I love it.

Overall, I'd have to say I'm VERY pleased. The pieces are of respectable quality, the set is (so far) very fun and rewarding (just like any Lego set!). If you've got a little extra cash and want to compliment your Lego collection, a few of these would probably be worth it. I'll update later tonight on the remainder of the build.
