Mazzara on Twitter: "We are building a prison."

So it's gonna be a set rather than a real location... :(

I'd rather they used a real location, like in Prison Break. If they are creating a set, we're probably not going to see much of the prison. But they have been great with make-up, details etc, so I trust them to pull it off.

He also said S3 will have 16 episodes. :D

Maybe they've got a large building, but isn't in the design of a prison, and they intend to convert it to look like one.

Maybe the Mysterious TWD guy can fill us in, eventually ;P

Not sure how to feel about this.

As long as they maintain a high degree of authenticity with it, which I think they can, then that's cool. Although I can only imagine this will really limit them in terms of how many scenes and different backgrounds they'll be able to use throughout the season. :(

Yeah, I'm sure whatever they build will look great, it's the scale that is a bit worrying. The prison they teased in the finale was absolutely massive, and I hope they're not gonna build just four or five rooms on the set and call it a day.

Agreed. Just love the symmetry of it. Like an evil version of the white house.

That was the prison they showed?? I thought that was the Governers town.

I argue that firing Darabont was in poor form, but not a negative.

I keep seeing people saying things like this, but nobody explains why. Why is Darabont a bad thing for any show or film?

I agree, shes an idiot, always making trouble and getting others into trouble. Your right though, Shane was finally accepting it and moving on and she goes ahead and tells him she cares for him.....

No he wasn't. Even after Rick beat his ass and told him how things were going to be, Shane was still talking to Andrea about taking over the farm from Hershel and Rick. The dude hadn't accepted anything.

So...are they just saving Merle for next season? Seems silly that they haven't even used him yet.

Again, even sillier is the absence of the father and son from the first episode. I am so fucking sick of waiting for them to show up again.

I mean, just give me a 10-second cut-away to both of them walking the streets with the zombie mom as a zombie family if that's all you're going to do, writers.

She's got a lot of shit on her plate. Her actions during this entire ordeal haven't been completely odd at all. I don't know anyone that would function properly. Maybe the fact that Michonne is coming into play (and then
andrea becoming a badass hopefully
) will hopefully cool down all the hatred of the women in this show in that she'll embolden the other women to be as strong or even stronger than her.

Take your "omg misogyny!" shit out of this thread. We're complaining about shitty characters, not picking on minorities.

Why not post some more explicit comic spoilers while you're at it?

Nine million, huh?

I cannot cope with a show I like, and enjoy watching, getting super high ratings. It does not make sense to me. I need to live in fear of shows I enjoy ending prematurely, and be sad when people lose their job.

Hey, come watch the final episode of Luck with us in its official thread. You'll feel right at home! :(

I really liked the finale, but wish it had been 90 minutes instead of the standard 60. Didn't know who the Yoshimitsu character was, didn't realize that structure was a prison, thanks ruin GAF I really do wish people would keep that stuff in the spoiler thread. Not everyone is cool with reading these types of things in this thread, especially when it pertains to the next season. Maybe people should be a little more considerate of others? It's not like this is the first time this has been an issue in the thread.

Like the Andrea survival stuff, and really enjoyed Rickisms throughout the show. Lori sucks, Carl needs to die, end of story.

I really don't understand the hate for Carl. He is a alright kid. Running around fucking shit up killing zombie Shane. A lot better then most characters on the show.

I can't really stick around to read the topic, but I purchased the DVD set for the first season not long ago. I sort of bought it on a whim (I saw it cheap), and I've been hearing more and more great things about it.

As soon as I finish watching the Firefly DVDs I'm borrowing from my friend, I'll watch it~

Ignore this if it's been discussed to death. I'm guessing it probably has but the thread is so huge and it's 1:30am and I can't go through the last 10-20 pages right now, but WHY the hell are Lori and the others mad at Rick for killing Shane considering Shane was taking Rick out to kill him? Do they think Rick's lying about this? If not, then why the fuck are they mad, especially Lori? Hey genius, SHANE WAS ABOUT TO KILL YOUR HUSBAND.

He lead him deep into the woods to kill him. He had his gun drawn. What the heck is wrong with her and the rest? Rick didn't go into every detail (didn't mention he had the gun drawn on him) but he gave enough details for them not to be mad at him for any reason. Shane lead the guy out to kill him. What more Rick can do to appease this ungrateful bunch... good lord.

Also got to say; modern buildings with elevators + locked egresss firestairs; zombies won't be able to break into any building with a good lobby. Mobs can't even. I always wondered about this. Zombie apocalpyse? How would they get in everywhere. Most fire stairs are fairly solid and not liable to being smashed in. Abandoned cities? You should easily be able to survive in a tall building.

No building is truly safe. Not even a zombie fortress.

Think only Lori was showing contempt for what happened to shane (but more because of Carl's role.) Carol seems to be the only one upset at the CDC secret. Maggie's just freaked out and wants to go. Herschel, Glenn, Darryl, TDog and Beth don't really say much about it.

Weird, ain't it. Had it happen twice this year, with TWD and Person of Interest

Hey, didn't know there's a TWD adventure game coming ut, by Telltale. Episodic games like BTTF

I see a trailer here, @ the 9 minute mark

Good finale. Didn't go down how I expected it to (I thought they'd hold up in the house) and it was better because of it. Didn't end especially strong, though, as there was no OMG I WANT NEXT SEASON NOW MOMENT. Rick finally putting people in their place was long overdue though.

Can Andrea just fucking die already? She's awful and whoever this gothic "lolz I have zombie slave" person is I really don't care. They look like a character an emo kid would draw in school.

Lori and Carl too. Both fucking awful. Fire them now and instantly make the show better.

This season was absolutely choked by the fact they spent the entire time on the farm with nothing engaging happening. If all they do is hold up in that big building (prison?) for season 3 then my interest drops significantly. This episode could've happened halfway through the season - easily. The pace of the show needs to pick up or they need to get much better writers/actors. Preferably both.

The fact this season has had two or three strong eps doesn't make me forget about the rest. 90% of the time it's mediocre and that needs to change.

Hopefully season 3 will be when the show finally becomes would it should be.

I really couldn't possibly disagree more. What I just read of yours is from an alternate dimension where everything is opposite. The show has been so good in my eyes that the fact that they spent so much time on the farm and I was STILL glued to my seat and entertained as hell is proof enough of how awesome this show is. Not a single episode was boring for me... boring as in changing the channel or doing something else while it's on. My fat ass was glued. I don't nitpick these shows and blow up every little fault as this series-destroying, jumping the shark moment. I've been incredibly entertained throughout.

Yeah you're probably right... come to think of it none of them had a visible reaction to it Rick saying and explaining he killed Shane, just stoic death stares. I took Maggie's "we should go" as a sign that she was mad and didn't feel safe with Rick and wanted to go. But maybe you're right and she's just freaked out about the location of the campfire and the noise in the woods.

But why the heck would Lori be mad at Rick about Carl's role? Carl ran off by himself like an idiot. Rick didn't take Carl with him. Lori should have watched him closer after all the shenanigans he's pulled. Also, Carl shooting Shane wasn't Rick's decision because Rick didn't see him. Why in the world is she so mad? That made me smh so much i got whiplash. Maybe because she loved Shane... you can tell Rick was thisssss close to saying that when he tried to touch her and she backed off.

Not excusing Lori. No one can. Just saying that's the moment she flipped. It irrational as all get out. Probably a realistic portrayal of how an unstable woman before the apocalypse, reacts to events during the apocalypse.

Zeliard: she didn't really say anything in the campfire scene. It was just her look.

I think it's more that it all came at once - both hearing that Rick killed Shane and then that HER SWEET BOY CARL killed Zombie Shane. It was too much for her brain to process, especially when Rick told them all to shove it at the end of the episode.

I wouldn't say daryl said nothing. Carol was trying to manipulate him and he was having none of it. I thought his interaction was notable. He added that Rick has done right by him and Rick has honor, which Carol was trying to say otherwise.

Yeah, she was trying to get in his ear like Lori did to Rick and Daryl was like "fuck off, Rick's good people".

t-dog wants to go to the coast. What if there are zombies walking around in the ocean floor? This michonne character looks interesting compared to the rest of the cast.

I have to agree with all the hate for Lori. While the farm seemed safe she was ready to drop Shane like a bad habit. Because at that point in time, he seemed like the bigger threat. So she kept telling Rick that he needed to go. The minute the zombie threat became real again she went back to get on Shane's good side for the protection. Telling him that she wasn't sure who was the father all but sealed the deal that he would be her protector. It was a poorly calculated on her part. But it was still a calculated selfish move that ended up making things worse.

I feel sorry for the dude in the RV that rick sent to his death to save himself and his son. It was out of character but when the shit came down he did it.

I like how no one in the group seems to care much about young RV guy and that other woman dying.

Anyways I'd prefer there to be no comic book spoilers at all in this thread but that samurai chick's name is ok I guess since we'll probably learn it immediately next season. As long as it just stays on that level then I have no reason I leave. I still remember reading the biggest comic book spoiler imaginable in the series on the first few pages of the season 1 thread so that's one possible epic moment ruined for me and I don't want that to happen to anyone else.
