Anyone else (Americans) born into a state with no professional teams?

I live in Atlanta now, but F that

Sometimes it just feels right. Don't fight it. Minney is the team for you.

Only part true. I have seen people wanting to participate and get shot down because the need to prove their "cred" first. And sometimes if this person happens to like a team that's doing well or multiple teams, then it's "lol you bandwagoner go away who the fuck are you"

Now, there have been drive-bys and posters who talk shit. But there's also a significant amount that just wants to discuss basketball. And so what if they are wrong or less informed than the rest of nba GAF?

And so what if a lot of people just show up for the playoffs? As long as ppl want to get into it, it's all part of the fun.

But I will say things were much better lately before the thread go locked

I came in after Lakers won b2b titles. Look at my username.

I was accepted pretty much day 1. NBA Gaf just hates drive by posters. Even if you might be a bandwagoner but you stay, you'll be fine. The attacking a newcomer thing is just hazing to see who is willing to stay or not (for what it's worth, i mostly don't participate in it).

Hell, we didn't even chase eznark out of there. And he's nothing but the biggest bandwagon fan in all sports of them all.

Alright Lions fans, CB or OL? They need more help at CB but we're reaching HUGE at that point with whoever is left on the board. There are some lineman that are great, great value picks at 23 (and most likely will be gone by that point in the real draft).

I've already got a write-up done for an OL that would be my first choice.

Also want to reaffirm this. I'm a Magic fan who is also the worlds biggest Ryan Anderson fanboy and I got accepted easily. As long as you aren't a driveby troll the place was totally cool. Shame the place has such a bad rap.

I will join the dark side of Lord Brady if you become a Heat fan too

Never. If I root for not-Massachusetts based sports team I get kicked out of the house
Exceptions are made for Colleges when you graduated.

Dude just send it. It's a PM. It's not like Roger Goodell is gonna get on your ass for tampering or whatever.

Like Goodell would ever mess with us Patriots, he loves us.

Weird, I have visited the NBA thread, NHL thread, and this thread all rarely and never got a problem. Of course, it seems you have to bring the trash talk somewhat to not get any problems. If it makes you guys feel better I am also a chick.

My parents let me pick my team. My dad and his family were all born in Ohio and were Bengals fans. I ended up rooting for the local teams. The Kings, Niners and A's. Though I think it helped that I was taken to a game when I was young. I think most kids would naturally root for the local team because it will be exposed to them the most. There was no local hockey team at the time, so I ended up rooting for the Calgary Flames. This was for liking Theo Fleury.

On the all-important quarterback issue, it seems clear the Dolphins are done (for now) chasing veteran options. Jeff Ireland confirmed what newly signed quarterback David Garrard said earlier: Garrard and Matt Moore will compete for the starting job in 2012.

There will be no further chase for Alex Smith or any of the current free agent options on the market. Ireland, however, did not rule out selecting a quarterback in the coming draft.

"There's a chance of that," he said. "Let it run its course."

But in the meantime, Ireland said he is thrilled with the idea of adding Garrard.

"I've been chasing this guy since last year," Ireland said. "He's athletic, he has arm talent, he's got veteran experience, he brings great leadership. We went with a veteran at the position and we talked to Matt and he understands we need to play better at quarterback to get over the hump. So they'll compete and we'll see what happens."

NFL-gaf has never felt mean-spirited or judgmental, to me. It always just seems like playful ribbing and sometimes low-balling jokes. People do the "who the fuck are you" thing, but...isn't that usually Cryboys and Giants fans? :smugface

Let's all hold hands everyone.
