BYE all other animated series for a bit.
It really forces artificial fighting styles. It's a very offensive oriented game and it doesn't reward defense.
Why didn't Korra just fish in the bay?

All this does is redirect to a facebook page. Is it out on a torrent or something?

<3
Is that episode 1, or 2? I realize both are due for a sneak peek.
Good first two episodes. Now the only question is, which pairing should I root for.
Also is it just me (or the HD) or has the animation and art really been stepped up a notch?
I'm so in love with this series already, but it's going to be a tough wait for the rest to come out. I'm really just in this thread for the gifs

Asami Sato seems a lot more Japanese than names usually are. It's the Fire Nation that has more Japanese-inspired culture right? From memory:
Air = Tibet, Nepal, etc
Water = Inuit
Earth = Korean, Southern China?
Fire = Imperial Japan, Northern China?
I don' think they've increased the amount of animation frames much (if at all) from TLA's season 2 and 3 but it's the details and quality of the individual frames that makes it look a lot better.Also is it just me (or the HD) or has the animation and art really been stepped up a notch?

Both. HD makes a world of difference but it definitely seems they got a budget increase.
The animation has been so much better in this series, it's expected, I guess, but nuts, nontheless. Like the quality found in the last four eps of the previous series, but all of the time. The Pro-Bending matches being a particular marvel because of it. So good.

I'm glad it's not just me then. I thought the animation was top notch in TLA anyway (especially all the bending/fighting) but it was the background art that had me oohing and aahing in Korra. Same kind of thing I get when I watch Studio Ghibli stuff *swoon*
That's probably because the HD makes the awesome backgrounds much more visible. Like mentioned before, I have the TLA Artbook since yesterday, and that series also had amazing artworks and backgrounds. The problemw as that you didn't notice as much because of the SD quality :/
I'm still holding out hope for the day when we'll see a HD widescreen release of TLA.
Not entirely sure but I think a proper HD release would be technically possible. It'd require a ton of work though so it'll probably never happen.Best they can do is upscaling right?
When episode 3 is airing?
Let's see, if the show starts on the 14th, that means it won't air until April 28th.

Unless its' a 2 episode premiere (which i hope it is)
I'd imagine so, unless they randomly decided to reward people for watching the first episode on the press website.
I'm getting terrible quality on the korranation site for some reason.
I don't know, fire nation society, the whole emperor worship, the military culture and the war aggression are all very similar to 20th century Japan.I wouldn't say the Fire Nation is a lot more Japanese. They are more industrial, which you could attribute to early 20th century Japan, but the architecture and dress is more Chinese influenced. I would say:
Air = Tibet, Nepal
Water = Inuit
Earth = Qing Dynasty, Kyoshi Island = Japan
Fire = Mid Qing Dynasty
But there's a lot of influences from many nations and dynasties throughout the series, so you can't really generalize it so simply.
And a SECOND episode got out? I always miss this stuff!
Meelo, the best animated child on tv ever? I think so.
Also, after watching episode 2 for a third time,(yes third) I occurred to me that this was the first time I'd ever seen a girl in a western animated show, get the crap kicked out of her. Even if it she was just getting hit buy wooden panels.
It's an unspoken rule of western cartoons, that girls aren't allowed to be seen getting punched, kicked or any violent acts get committed on them. I can't even remember seeing any female characters on A:TLA getting as roughed up as Korra did in episode 2.
I think Master Paku smacked Katara to the ground in their fight but even that was done off screen. It'll interesting to see if "the Legend of Korra" will just ignore the unspoken rule against violent acts against female characters going forward.
I just re-watched the episode for the third time and i can´t help but think that earth bending is very limited in pro bending since they can only use discs. I watched yesterday Toph destroying the earth benders in the arena, and i like how inventive and resourceful earth bending is. It´s little sad that earth benders can only use the earth discs.
I guess that´s fair.The goal of Pro-Bending it to do more of quick jabs at your opponent. If they made the arena out of Earth, they could just make a huge wall and shove them off, and that wouldn't be fair.
Much like Water Benders can't use Ice and Fire Benders can't use Lightning in the arena.
Huh, water benders can't use ice in pro bending?
That's super lame.
Well, I'd assume they can't.
Water is a pain, but ice is deadly.

I really don't think I'll get over the original cast. I thought Korra was suppose to be Aang and Katara's daughter? Did they air the episodes already?
