TDKR will get upwards of $170 mill weekend at least. Back in 08, they didn't have AMC IMAX's and ticket prices were around($8-$11) bucks tops. Nowadays, tickets are usually $14-18. Plus, this is the capper on the Batman trilogy. They showed the DKR trailer before hunger games and all the Tweens were going nuts with applauses.

I fully believe that Spider-Man 3 damaged the franchise to the point where it won't be able to getting truly astounding figures. But... If the film is amazing, Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the film that has the chance to break records. See Batman Begins -> The Dark Knight.

Nearly a 70% drop? I highly doubt it.

If anything, it should have a decent hold since a lot of people probably wanted to avoid the madness and see it when the chaos died down.

Seriously though, short-term records (opening day, opening weekend) seem made to be broken. Ever year or so they get beat. It's the overall records that are far more impressive. I wonder when a movie will pass Titanic (either domestic or WW), let alone Avatar.
