No one has been charged yet. The Dayton PD says they are still investigating. So charges could still come soon. Listen to the 911 call. You can hear Dante honking his horn. I assume the security guards are standing in front of his car so he can't drive away. Dante's family wants this case to gain national attention to put pressure on the DPD to charge the security guards with murder. Its unfortunate but only about 50 people showed up to the rally on Friday. I would appreciate if GAF helps spread this news.

DAYTON — The Dayton Daily News has obtained the 911 tapes from a shooting in which two security guards are alleged to have shot and killed a man in an apartment complex parking lot earlier this month.

Dante Price, 25, was allegedly shot and killed March 1 on Summit Square Drive by Ranger Security guards. The guards allege that Price was not being compliant with their orders.

In the 911 recording, one of the security guards tells a dispatcher, “We just had to shoot at him. He charged at us.”

The guard can be heard repeatedly yelling at Price to get out of his vehicle. “He was fighting my partner, doing everything he could to pull off, dragging my partner,” he said.

The recording captured what sounds like 20 shots being fired. The officer then tells the dispatcher that Price is hit. But Price’s foot was stuck on the gas and the car was smoking.

Meanwhile, the local Southern Christian Leadership Conference president is calling for people to show up in front of the Montgomery County Courthouse at noon Friday for a rally seeking justice for Price.

Bishop Richard E. Cox likened Price’s story with Trayvon Martin, the slain young black man from Sanford, Fla., who was allegedly shot to death by a neighborhood watchman late last month.

“All of us today are asking everybody in the city of Dayton (to participate),” Cox said. “I want to see 1,000 people at this courthouse Friday.”

Price, a young African American man was shot at 21 times by two security guards outside of a Dayton Ohio apartment building. The shooters have yet to be arrested by police.

Bishop Richard Cox of the Southern Christian Leadership Council called in to explain why they are calling for the shooting to be investigated as a hate crime.

“After they shot in the car and it caught on fire, the security guards were calling him names and said, ‘Let the nigger burn,’” said Cox.

So they have no affiliation with law enforcement whatsoever? What gives them the authority to attempt to make any kind of arrest?

that doesn't make sense at all as to why he was shot, he was in the car, but why did they try to stop them. and how could he be fighting one of them if he was driving the car with foot on pedal
 
Sorry for the typo. Its been on the news locally off and on for the past month. Its fucking crazy they let security guards carry guns. If someone is trespassing they should let them leave. Not hold them at gunpoint. These guys probably make $9.50/hour. They probably had to take a 4 hour gun course or something.

The claim is they were trying to hold him until Police arrived. Which they have no authority to do.
 
Wait, I'm confused. Basically: He was trespassing, they caught him, they tried to hold him there, he tried to leave, they shot him.

Is that the gist?

I don't know, but how was he able to drag him, than enter his car, to drive away?

but he said they yelled at him to get out of the car, than they were fighting, than he got shot in his car...doesnt make sense at all

If I had to guess at a timeline, they probably had him at gunpoint while the car was stopped. Then one of them tried to pull him out of the car or grab his keys and that's when the car moved. That prompted them to shoot the car up.
 
Why do security guards have guns? I thought most security are like mall cops, wait and call the police when something happens.

Yeah. This is insane. These guys need to go to fucking jail and be tried for murder.

What I don't understand is why Dante Price just sat there and honked. If I had ANYONE screaming at me to get out of my car and were standing in front of me WITH GUNS that wasn't a police officer, I'd throw it into 1st gear and floor it while lowering my head/body beneath the dashboard to minimize my chances of getting hit by a bullet. Absolutely NO WAY anyone should get out of the car in that situation. That's fucking crazy.

These trigger-happy psychos need to be punished because from what it sounds like, this is murder.

This 100%. You pull a gun on me while I'm in a car I'm ducking and hitting the gas as hard as possible in any/all situations. You get dragged/run over/hit? Well don't fucking pull a gun.
 
Maybe he didn't know they had guns? Maybe they only pulled a gun when they were about to shoot, so he didn't feel the need to step on the gas and run the over.

Um... guns are pretty easy to see. A security guard would have one holstered on his hip. And I am 90% sure they had their guns drawn and were pointing at him, or at least one of them was.
 
Really? You'd think that with all the firestorms going on about black people getting shot by authority figures recently that these guys would think twice before being the worst kinds of Americans. I'm ashamed for our country if these kinds of acts go unpunished.

Well not all apartment complexes are opened up. Plenty of nicer ones are resticted access.

As for the people who think you can ignore a security guard it doesnt work that way in Ohio a Security Guard who has been licensed to carry a firearm is considered a Law Enforcement Officer.

Restricted ones tend to have gated access, pretty hard to trespass in a car with those. And I would suggest the law in Ohio is deeply flawed if a security guard gets LEO status.

Security officers have their own levels.

The ones that make just above minimum wage don't really carry guns...

The ones making a lot more, are usually guarding armored bank trucks... those guys are packing heat...

Apartment security? Well I guess it's different up North where I'm from, they may carry non-lethal weapons, even then it's rare.... and they at most question the owners of the vehicles and if they don't comply they call the police....
