What happens now?

This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A "LEGO Jury" composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We'll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product, including playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand.

Every LEGO product goes through a process like this and must meet the same standards.

The review is a thorough process that will take several weeks. When finished, we make a "go/no go" decision to develop and sell the Winchester. We will inform you of our decision, and if green-lighted, this project goes into the longest phase of the project; the Development phase. During this time, LEGO model designers refine the product and develop it for release, we create the product materials (box, instructions, marketing), and get everything ready for a production run. This takes several months.

We will post followup information here and announce our final decision in the LEGO.com press room.

Finished it today. Biggest set I ever build, took me quite some time but feels like childhood again.

They could just make a pub model and call it "The Red Brick". As a reference they could always hide a zombie minifig in the cellar.
 
Did anyone have problems with the instructions for the Fire Brigade? Only just started but steps 2 and 3 both show only one piece, but the picture shows multiple being used, like they've missed off how many of each you need. Eg step 2 on mine shows one 2x6 light grey, but the picture shows two being used. Step 3 shows one 1x2 dark grey, but there are four in the picture

Yes, several of the steps in book one had missing piece counts, just showing the type.
 
started my ucs falcon, using a pdf sucks as much as I thought it would.

the dump it in one bucket philosophy was not made with 5k+ pieces in mind.
 
Hit up the Lego store with my son today. I picked up the VW Bus for myself and the Spongebob Pirate set for my son.

We did the Spongebob set when we got back.

It was actually a pretty fun build. My son got a kick out of the secret treasure chest compartment and the boat. He helped about as much as a two year old can help and he did enjoy himself.

The larger sets are rarely available in Brick and Mortar stores outside LEGO stores. Occasionally some of the larger Toys R us stores will carry them, but it's very rare (and at my Toys R us all i've ever seen is the occasional UCS Star Wars set during the holidays).

You fill my heart with jealousy...

Also, I am waiting to see all the big sets like Tower Bridge, Grand Emporium, and Pet Shop magically come back in stock at Toys R Us once the sale is over. I just feel it will happen, like they just held them until after the sale like assholes. (And saved me money)
 
For those looking for older sets, eurobrick forum's buy sell and trade section can sometimes have some gems for example this guy

Sets I have include the Green Grocer, Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, Fire Brigade, Holiday Bakery and Toy Shop, and The Emerald Night. I also have several duplicate minifigs that would be included also, such as Jabba The Hutt and 10 hazmat guys!

Nearly had a heart attack. Dropped $1,800 on a brand new one this week.

@DrForester --- my gf hates you because she thinks she's not going to Ibiza this year.
 
Off to the Lego Store in Westfield London with my 10% voucher and VIP card. Probably won't buy anything too big.
 
Hm. I recently signed up to receive mail from them but nothing yet.

Edit: Just found a sign-up page on their website. Hopefully I can get that coupon in the next week or so and pick up the Pet Shop or Town Hall.
 
How long does it usually take for a VIP card to be sent to me? I signed up on Feb 22. Not sure why I even need a physical card since there are no LEGO stores in the Netherlands.
 
The "VP of Manufacturing" in that press release - Louis Friend, is an anagram for iron sulfide, aka "Fool's Gold".

Now Brickset has another news item up, reporting that they will adding MegaBloks, Kre-O, etc to the database. The rage in response is palpable. LOL.

At least its only one day a year.

The UCS joke is cruel. But the MegaBlok and Kre-O joke is funny.
