Game Informer Tease: "Screenshots ... are gorgeous. My jaw is still on the ground..."

Okay so since games journalists have been getting called out what with this Mass Effect 3 business going on, can we call out GI with their "W-W-W-WORLD EXCLUSIVE" cover stories which are really nothing more than glorified paid advertisements.

Game Informer has its place. You shouldn't be reading it for the nuanced criticism. The flashy, hype-building cover stories are the point.

After launch of tech demo Kara, I am surprised not people are considering Quantic Dream's project as a potential.

Of course, something powered by "CryEngine 3" is a likelier suspect.

LoL yes, I figured as much. Thank you for the link. Hopefully, we'll get closer to this on next gen hardware.

If the hardware is even half way decent for 2013 what we get will blow away that facial model.

Anyone still doubting my statement that game press is about publisher advocacy and not consumer advocacy?

Serious question: Has a magazine EVER teased a major reveal which didn't end up being a complete disappointment?

PC Gamer reveal of Quake 3 was pretty incredible. I read through that issue at least a dozen times. More, maybe. There were also great CGW and PC Mag reveals for Half Life and Half Life 2.

I have hope that the new X-COM game, which was a GI reveal, will deliver the goods.

1. GTA5
2. RE6
3. Halo 4
4. Assassins Creed 3

Can't be games like God of War 4, Black Ops 2 or whatnot. E3 is just 2 months away. Although... I do want me some new inFamous 3 news....

I've been impressed quite a few times by GI exclusives. So I'm hyped for this as well! The South Park announcement was a bit of a fizzle, but they hyped it as much.

See, I am really leaning towards Halo 4, but the "Jaw on the ground" quote is throwing me off. While Halo 4 surely does look good, and we have got a taste of that, its hard for me to imagine it having that effect on people, namely because its a known IP and is running on the 360. If it were something entirely new, then maybe I could see that, but I dunno.

Then again, I imagine this, in game, should look "jaw on ground" good-

Still, I dunno, don't get me wrong, I hope Halo 4 would have that effect on people, Im just not sure how likely that would be.

People who shit on Halo 4, I shit you back.

GI hyping the potential reveal of the 360's marquee title (and probably it's swan song as far as MS studios are concerned) just makes sense.

Crysis 3...what's the point? shouldn't it release on PS720 as a launch title? it will die against COD/Halo/Bioshock if it releases this winter.

I bet it's going to be one of the following:

1. A futuristic shooter
2. A modern warfare shooter

what if it was a game where a modern soldier is accidentally sent back in time to WWII, where he meets his grandfather who is a GI fighting the nazis. Then both of them get sent into the future where they meet the guy's own grandchildren, who are actually AI robots fighting in a future war.

Someday, I hope Gaf bans/prohibits shallow hype bait "teasers/announcements/pseudo-reveals" by other news outlets be it other sites or magazines.

One step away from just letting GI creating ad-threads on the forum itself ( which they aren't allowed to).

Game of the year

Wonder how long before Nintendo starts the Wii U hype since the system launches this Fall. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a Wii U title, but it's probably something from Crytek running on PC.

That looks great, but it wouldn't surprise me if it it just looked like a Bungie game. Hopefully they'll do something different and interesting.

So, AC3 was this month, GTA5 is too soon, Halo4 didn't look "jaw dropping" and i doubt the next CoD will.
What's on the table next? Resident Evil 6? Medal of Honor? Maybe it's the next Avalanche game, they had a couple scheduled for 2013, you never know.

I call bullshit on "gorgeous screenshots" unless it's some project for the next gen hardware or a PC exclusive (and both are highly unlikely to recieve a GI cover story next month).

Believe...

I've been listening to latest podcast from 343i and they talked about visuals for quite some time. Specifically mentioning how excited they are to show of new tech and artstyle to people. They said they have best artists in business and that new tech is amazing, so I hope for best. There are guys from Rockstar, ND, GG, id, SSM, EA, Pixar etc. They are full of talent.
