Captain America movie sequel set for 2014

I only know Red Skull as captain America´s enemy.

I just skimmed through Wikipedia and Captain America does not seem to have another great villain besides the Red Skull.

Sorry to say that the first movie bored me. I was really excited to see it too. Thor was much more entertaining in my opinion. Will still watch probably.

First movie was so bad it was painful. I wonder what exactly will they do for the sequel without the novelty of being set in the 1940s.

They haven't ruled out the possibility of some of the movie taking place in the past...

...which is why I'm thinking Winter Soldier is pretty likely.

I am one of those strange, rare beasts who has enjoyed all of the "new Marvel" movies thus far, so I'm pretty excited about this.

I feel that both Captain America and Thor had elements that might be harder to appreciate for a mass audience. Both of them had directors who definitely left their mark on the films, for the better in my opinion. Thor had a lot of Shakespeare overtones which is what Branagh is known for, and because of it Loki is probably the most interesting character in the Marvel film universe. Captain America was a tribute to all sorts of things; WWII propaganda, the Indiana Jones tradition, actual discarded Nazi weapons designs, etc. The two films also played off of each other in an incredibly interesting way.

Taken together, Captain America and Thor are to me the most interesting and layered films Marvel has ever produced.

The writing and performance of Loki single-handedly made me like Thor as much as Iron Man 1.

The Winter Soldier storyline would be great to see, and I think it would make sense for a sequel. Of course they'd probably bave to remind audiences who the hell Bucky was. I would love for the sequel if he was the primary antagonist.

*edit - From wikipedia:

Captain America director Joe Johnston has expressed interest in doing a Bucky solo film, quoted as saying "I told the Marvel guys that there is a character that I’m really interested in called ‘The Winter Soldier’ and that if, ‘you guys decide to make that picture I would definitely be interested.’ I just think that it would be interesting to take a character that was in ‘Captain America’ and build a story around him. Plus, I like Sebastian Stan a lot (who played Bucky) I think he would be an interesting actor to build another feature around." While no official word has been given, Johnston said that the film most likely won't happen until after Captain America 2, and has expressed interest in working with Scarlett Johansson and crossing over with her character of the Black Widow (Natalia Romanova). In the comics, Bucky and Black Widow have a romantic history dating back to the Cold War, and though Black Widow appeared in Iron Man 2, and the Cold War conflict was alluded to with Whiplash's treacherous father Anton Vanko, they did not develop any relationship between the Black Widow and the Soviets, leaving the possibility for it to be expanded, whether in a Winter Soldier or a Black Widow solo film. Though the film is only in the planning stages and has yet to start development, Sebastian Stan is signed on to reprise his role in a total of 6 Marvel films.

So the guy who played Bucky is signed to do up to 6 movies with Marvel...looks as thought they're keeping the option for Winter Soldier showing up in mind.

Bingo...that's why the hints that they'll be revisiting the 1940's point to Winter Soldier for me.

Of course Cap has a large stable of villains who sprung out of Nazis and the war, so I could be completely wrong. Bucky/WS just strikes me as the most interesting possibility if they're gonna be spending considerable chunks of the movie in each time period.

It definitely seems like they'll be doing a balance between WWII flashbacks and the present, so I think Winter Soldier and Zemo would make the most sense as villains.

I hope is not a complete boring piece of shit like the last one, but it seems the writer and the editor are staying.

Feige kind of hinted 2015 for Avengers 2. Their second movie for 2014 will probably be a new property, most likely Dr. Strange.

Yeah, Avengers 2 less than a month after Captain America 2 would be kinda weird. Probably a new character(s), perhaps one that follows up on certain plot points of Avengers that can't be discussed yet.

Disney needs money, and this makes more sense than making a comparative gamble on Black Panther/Ms Marvel/whatever.

Not to mention it was critically and commercially successful, so regardless of how anyone here may personally feel about the film, a sequel is a giant no-brainer

Still haven't seen the 1st :/ Heard it wasn't all that. I intend to pick it up on the cheap on dvd at somepoint.

So, before Avengers 2 happens in (2015/6?), we'll definitely see:

Iron Man 3
Thor 2
C.America 2

and maybe:

Hulk 2?
Black Widow (or BW+Hawkeye) movie?
Someone new for Avengers 2?

Ah, yes, this too. Easy to forget that when I'm looking at the grosses of the MCU and Captain America would be last if not for The Incredible Hulk, but it's certainly true. Plus it's the second highest rated MCU film on Rotten Tomatoes, which, again, easy to not notice when certain GAFfers shit over it like they have critical diarrhea.

Didn't really care for the first movie, origin story took more then half of the movie and then you got couple of lackluster action scenes. I'm still going to check the second movie since now they can go straight to action... Also they need to bring back R-rated action blockbusters.

F. Gary Gray is out.

F. Gary Gray had been on that short list, but I’m hearing that he has withdrawn from consideration and is in hot and heavy negotiations to direct the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton for New Line Cinema. He’ll likely do that film instead.

Man I wish I was writing the movie. I would troll and make Flagsmasher the leader of an OWS like terrorist group. And Flagsmasher would use social media to fuck up Cap.

Yeah the villain should def be Winter soldier. The last Avengers movie should be Civil War and end with Cap's death.

this movie will need crossbones. I think cap is gonna be stuck in the not so gritty realm tho, because he is marketable to younger kids....his enemies however are not , and are some of the sickest freaks in the marvel U, dont see them being put on film and hurting merchandise sales.

News is that Captain America 2 will take place pretty much right after the events of Avengers, with him trying to find his place in the modern world, along with 40s flashbacks. He's also still in SHIELD (S.L.J. will appear).
