nope, thats a pyramid/cone - sloped on four sides (difficult to see on that picture)

Ah yes, my mistake. I just checked LDD and there seems to be no piece that is a 2x2x2 slope. Rather strange that Lego hasn't made such a piece.

Easter weekend at my parents, went at the Legos again :D

Have to replace a few parts around the tower thingie tomorrow, will take a pic when I'm done. But it's really a cute little set, totally forgot about it.

Bought propellor adventures and the yellow Lego delivery truck as they were 50% off on amazon uk. Would have preferred the big jet with the light brick, but I do like the engines on the propellor plane

Played around with LDD and real bricks this afternoon out of boredom.

ilyWyoVqK8BJJ.png

LDD is useful for seeing how things would look like in colours you don't have, but for experimenting its not that great. You really do have to use it in conjunction with proper bricks.

Just saw the video preview of LEGO Creator 7346 Seaside House. Looks like it will be one of my favorite Creator sets, so many interesting details there.

Bah, I ordered a few bags of series 5 when I ordered my advent calender and they were delivered yesterday. No package and the USPS guy said he doesn't remember it. Tracking says it was delivered yesterday so I guess I need to contact the post office or Toysrus. Only 15 bucks but hey it is the principle..

Got some unexpected cash today, so I think I am going to snag the Fire Brigade before it disappears. Also building my falcon tonight. This lego addiction is strong folks...real strong.

Yeah, it started several months ago when I bought big box of basic LEGO bricks for my son by now, thanks to this thread, I have:

Log Cabing
Ferrari F1 Racer (8386)
Family Home - bought on ebay, arriving next week
Apple Tree House - bought on ebay, arriving next week
Fire Brigade - bought on amazon.it, arriving in 1.5 weeks

And I already have next purchases lined up:
Volkswagen T1 Camper Van
Lighthouse Island
Grand Emporium
Shuttle Expedition
Offroad Power

DAMN YOU, NEOGAF!

This thread started me too man...I know how you feel haha I don't even want to list what I have bought in the last month or so.

I am trying to find the cheapest price for FB online. Seems like Lego themselves would be good but the shipping costs are insane on that site....any suggestions guys?

Wait for Lego to do free shipping again like they did at the end of March. I am waiting for it before jumping on Grand Emporium. Unless Toys R Us magically gets stock during their BOGO again.

If there's a Lego store nearby, if they don't have it instock, they can order it for you with free shipping.

I like how everyone seems to be starting with Fire Brigade, even if it's just because it is going out of print. It's the one I ordered first, and it just got here today. :D Sadly I tore a little piece off of the box taking off the tape before I got smart and cut it. </OCD> I don't know what the lot number is, so I'm not sure if my set is missing any pieces, but I suppose I will find out!

I am impressed even though the shipping was expensive. I think I got the cheapest shipping option from the LEGO site, and placed the order super early the morning of the 4th, and the set already arrived this morning via FedEx (on a Saturday on a holiday weekend no less).

Ok, thanks to you guys I'm going to try to make my own UCS Millenium Falcon. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I've started to do a nice excel sheet and some prices are very high!! :(

Easter weekend at the parents', a lot of Lego to get done!

Let's see, I actually managed to finish this one:

..even if I had to replace a few parts, it turned out to be great. Some of my red wall thingies were actually broken and messed up, but once connected, they all worked :) Really love this little thing, totally forgot I even had it (Even now I don't remember it) and will definitively take this one home with me. It even uses the "Light brick as window" idea modern microscale sets use!

Now I'm trying to finish this one until tomorrow...

..but already a lot of parts can't be found. The Lego pile doesn't get notabicably smaller* though.

Oh, and does anyone know to which set this part goes?

[16:59] <@bufbaf> is it notably or noticably?
[16:59] <@bufbaf> or noticeably or something?

Forget about the UCS Falcon. That's my advice!

Unless you have lots of time and money.

My girls received Legos instead of candy from the Easter Bunny. Lots of details on the build. My wife put all the sets together in about 1.5 hours this morning. I like how all the rooms can be pulled apart and even reorganized. I have 2 girls sharing this so it helps to be able to break them apart like that. All in all, pretty damn cool sets!

Good luck, it's a fun build. I paid $916 for mine, but a lot of that went into shipping due to making so many orders from Bricklink. I was a noob and didn't even know there was a feature to see which sellers have the most items from your bricklink wishlist.

You will run into rarity and pricing issues if you're going for a 100% set. I tried to stay as close as possible and luckily, most of the pieces I swapped were internal or not really noticeable. Even Lego started using two of these swaps in the set.

My substitutions:

31 White Plate 2 x 2 with Pin Type 2 (2476b) - 14 white, 6 light gray, 9 dark bluish gray, 2 yellow
41 Light Bluish Gray Technic, Pin Connector Round (Pin Joiner Round) (75535) subbed with slot version (62462)*
1 qty 6 x 14 dark red plate (3456) in red
28 qty (4095) 6.6L bar subbed with 28 qty 6L bar (63965)*
60 qty Light Bluish Gray levers 298c05 subbed with light gray (298c03)
21 qty Light Bluish Gray wedge 3x2 right (6564) subbed with 63 plate 3x2 right (43722)
21 qty Light Bluish Gray wedge 3x2 left (6565) subbed with 63 plate 3x2 left (43723)
1 Light Bluish Gray Round Dish 10 x 10 Inverted with Spokes Pattern (50990px3) subbed with 1 dish (50990)
2 Light Bluish Gray boat rigging (47996) in black
1 Technic Flex-System Hose (75c08) in black
2 Technic Flex-System Hose (75c12) in dark grey
2 ChromeSilver Plate 1 x 1 Round (4073) in metallic silver
16 yellow Technic Brick 5 x 5 Right Angle with Holes (32555) in black

*officially used alternate part

You may also want to look at getting pieces from Lego directly. They were a good source for the dark gray technic beams and I also used their PAB site for some other various pieces.

This is the conclusion Ihave come to having toyed with the idea of Bricklinking it. The time and effort needed is not worth it given the fact I don't have a suitable place to display it and would be better off putting the parts towards MOCs anyway.

Especially if you're in the UK. There are parts that are expensive like the rigging and I don't mind making do with a different colour but the quatity and colour of some other parts mean the cost is way too high for me.

Kudos if anyone does do it but fingers crossed for a rerelease of some kind.

I really want a minifig scale Falcon, but honestly I'll buy every 2000+ piece set in the Star Wars line from here on out (excluding prequel stuff of course).

Just finished the Falcon build. I think that was my favorite set so far out of anything (including Grand Emporium). I didn't want it to end but enjoyed every minute of watching it come together. Went well with watching the movies in the background and took almost the course of all three.

Really really recommend this one to anyone who hasn't grabbed it yet.

Glad you liked it as much as I and many others did. The new Millenium Falcon is just really great. Looks good, fun to put together, and priced fairly for the number of bricks you get. And on top of that, easy to find at so many different stores. It is never a hunt to get it.

And those Friends line pics:

Olivia continues to be boss! And I love the house. All the little details, just like the modulars have. Although, Olivia gets a toilet, while all modulars the figs have to hold it in.

Ya it was fantastic...makes me question getting the Fire Brigade and instead grabbing the Tantive IV since is still on Amazon. I loved the feeling of putting a ship together of that size.

WOW! Nice advice overload! Thanks! Well, I don't have the money to go for a 100% set. I'd only go for a 100% set if that meant a nice reselling price, but I don't think that's feasible. Well, if it is, let me know how much you would pay for one! But after taking a look at my excel sheet I'm inclined to go for a cheaper set with some color changes, no minifigs, no stickers and no instructions. I'm in no rush and I was already having fun doing the excel sheet so again, FrodoChallengeAccepted.png!

I'm planning on remaking my .xls in php to add some web interactivity. BTW, while looking for some cheaper prices I found something: How real is this?

Also how do you order specific parts from lego?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Also, where can I find pieces 167 and 4696b on BL? I get errors when trying to import them and site search gives me nothing :(

Why choose? Get both! I skipped on getting the Tantive IV. I might still get it though. I, and many others, have sung the praises of Fire Brigade. Just a gorgeous set, and tons of pieces for the price. But I see you already have the modular bug, so you dont need coaxing on that.

Probably going to the Lego store this week to pick the last few series 6 I want, as I know they'll help me find the ones I want.

I'm going to have to fight the urge to get the Grand Emporium there and then.

Biggest thing holding me back from the Tantive are those god awful bridge covers, the fact that the two top sections are a off white/grey color just so they could put windows in it would bug me to death. I wish they had just done solid white ones.

Has anyone tried the architecture LEGO series from Barnes & Nobles? I saw two that looked cool, an 800+ piece falling water one, and a 2200+ piece red building one (I forget the name). The 2200+ piece one was super expensive compared to the fire brigade though, like $200 vs $150.

Those two are supposed to be awesome builds. As is White House. The others are supposedly fairly decent, but many in the architecture line are rip offs for the price per brick.

Robie House and Falling Water are pretty fairly priced though. Robie House at $200 falls under the $.10 a brick magic point too.

Lego has two ways to order specific pieces.

Pick A Brick
http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Pick-A-Brick-ByTheme

The pick a brick order I made took around two weeks just to ship, and came from Poland. Kind of slow, but you can save some money on certain pieces if you compare prices on bricklink.

Replacement Parts
http://us.service.lego.com/en-US/replacementparts/default.aspx

The piece replacement is supposed to be for people who lost stuff from sets, and you have to call in for this, but they were super nice and let me place a $60 order for a bunch of stuff. Can't get the printed dish, minifigs, or light gray boat rigging pieces from here though. I was tempted to buy the instruction book, but I think they're out of those now too.

EDIT: Also, where can I find pieces 167 and 4696b on BL? I get errors when trying to import them and site search gives me nothing :(

looks like 4696b got the ID changed to 4697b on bricklink..for some reason.
167 is 6190 on bricklink

These are good examples of what I was saying, in the UK you will have to pay £0.50p per item if you want the right colour for 6910 and even then there are not enough on BL right now. If I recall you need about 25 of them.

I have about 85% of the USC Falcon from other sets so I *may* BL the rest but I'll have to find a shop in the US that has as much as possible and do it in as many shipments as possible or shipping will be massive.

If only parts like that were in the Pick a Brick Store......

What is number 2 on the list?

#2. Insanely Detailed Official Star Wars Lego Replicas ($1,200 to $2,950)

122855.jpg

At some point in the last decade and a half, Lego's target audience went from "mainly kids" to "mainly adults compensating for the fact that their parents didn't buy them the pirate ship set when they were kids" (which is admittedly a far more lucrative market). The prime example of this trend is the insanely huge Lego Star Wars Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon, which is so big that you'd have to be a [insert giant creature from the Star Wars series here] to lift or let alone play with it.

122856_v1.jpg

The great thing is that after you build it, you can live inside the box.
The price? Right now, it's going for $2,950, which incidentally is $2,950 more than Han Solo paid Lando Calrissian for the original Falcon. The box contains more than 5,000 Lego pieces, and if you ever wondered what that looks like, here it is:

122857_v1.jpg

Honestly, we'd probably get six pieces put together before passing out from exhaustion.
It takes roughly one week to assemble, and the end result weighs more than 25 pounds. Oh, and check out Amazon's "Frequently Bought Together" suggestion:

122858_v1.jpg

This might be why the economy collapsed.
Apparently, enough people have cleared their bank accounts on the Falcon, the $2,000 Lego Star Destroyer and the $1,200 Lego Death Star (so accurate that they even left it unfinished) that Amazon now bundles them together. You'd probably need to clear the garage to store all three, but that's no problem, because you just sold your car to buy them.

122859_v1.jpg

There was a globe there, just seconds before the photo was taken.

Only built a little bit on the Fire Brigade/Town Hall combo tonight. Will finish it tomorrow night or Tuesday at this point. Was just too damn exhausted from the rest of the week to build. Yes, that is as crazy as it sounds.

The time lapse video for it is looking good though. It will be nice and long. Debating about adding music to this one, but what to add? And that takes effort...

I picked up several Marvel sets at TRU.

7059561299_8d6beee74d_z.jpg

So far, I've only built Wolverine's Chopper Showdown. Lego created a winner with this set and it's one of the best ways to spend $20. The build is simple but fun. There are tons of maroon cheese wedge pieces though.

I think the Chopper set is the first one I'm going to pick up as well. I'm just waiting on the S@H promotion next month for the free minifigs.

I just want the Deadpool and Magneto figures.

And if they only appear in this set, it'll probably be cheaper to buy the set on sale than to buy the mini figs separately on bricklink...

Speaking of which - what's a good value way to get some scout troopers and/or snow troopers? They're a little expensive on bricklink so are there some cheapish sets with them in?

That's the cheapest AFAIK.

You can always try for a Hoth playset during a TRU b1g1 sale, but those sets are OOP, so you'd have to get lucky.

Thank you so much again! You're helping me A LOT! I will check those replacements very soon! I'm still trying to finish the wanted list, seems like part 32277 is part 41239 on BL(someone please correct me if I'm wrong)... I'll double check all the parts just to be sure.

Is there a list somewhere for the parts that are not seen/hidden in the finished UCS so if all else fails I can switch their colors? Thanks in advance!

After watching those UCS MF pics above I'm more determined to do this!

I definately want to get those 3 and maybe the big jet one, I really want a hulk but I'm thinking I may just keep an eye on bricklink or ebay for a cheap one, the set he comes in is really quite shit and I'd end up getting duplicate thor, hawkeye and loki.

In other LEGO news I bought town hall on ebay for about $20 more than local RRP including postage from Germany, you don't get charged any extra for postage if you order more from him so I also ordered Olivia's House for about 33% off local RRP to put away in the cupboard for my daughters birthday next year and got the little toy story dump truck with Lotso for $12.

The free shipping had me eyeing off the death star too but my wife would kill me and I'd be broke for a year if I did that now....one day.

I also gave my daughter the little Friends purple car wash for easter, which she loves, the car is pretty damn cool actually and I love the colours on it myself :). I bought myself the droid escape set for easter, my first star wars set, mainly for the minifigures, the escape pod is pretty shit to be honest but it was funny when I woke up this morning and found my stormtrooper with his helmet off and with a Friends hairdo on bow in his hair and all...and the Friends minifig with a stormtrooper helmet :)

Anyway, now for the long wait for the Town Hall...I'm tempted to build the fire brigade, cafe corner, green grocer and grand emporium again (pet store is still constructed) to see how they all look together, it's a mammoth task though, it'd probably take me a few weeks.
