From what I understand the SOLE reason he was suspicious in the first place is because a black person was walking around his neighborhood.

State Attorney Angela Corey, appointed as a special prosecutor in the February shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, has decided against sending the case to a grand jury, her office said Monday.

The grand jury, set to convene on Tuesday, was previously scheduled by the former prosecutor.

Corey previously said she has not used grand jury's in cases like this and added that from the time she was appointed she said she may not need a grand jury.

The decision about whether or not to charge George Zimmerman in the case will now be entirely in her hands.

I don't blame you, but it's probably best to just skip the posts...I don't know why it's been like this, but it seems like when a troll gets banned, another one just pops up.

Now it's to the point where people can use "that's how my dad died" and "I'm going to donate to a guy who shot a child" as discussion points, and it's magically not trolling, for some reason.

I just scan the thread for links now, waiting for good news next week. I remember when April 10th felt like an eon.

In Florida for potential murder cases, they typically send it to a Grand Jury panel who will determine whether to charge a person or not. But the State prosecutor can decide to apply the charges him/herself and basically have it go straight to a court case.

Yes, and unlike some states, it appears Florida does not routinely use grand juries (except where required by state law for capital charges).

That's what I'm thinking to. It'd be the stupidest thing ever to take the jury's role away and then have everybody hate you. I'm guessing she thought the jury might not indict him?

I really hope the case goes to court. I want to here the arguments and information on both sides even though as of now I think Zimmerman is at least guilty of manslaughter. It's gonna take for ever to get through the cost system. Just look at casy Anthony. And that was also In the Orlando area. Jury selection is gonna be fun with Zimmerman going to try to prevent any black jurors.

Don't see why they would not want a Grand Jury when it could potentially prevent any charges and he would have got off free. Grand Jury choosing a charge and state prosecutor choosing one really is no different.

As I understand, they see using the grand jury as being less transparent.

I'm only speculating here, but if the participants in a grand jury are anonymous, maybe the defense feels that they might try to take the easy way out and drop the case. But this is pure speculation.
