Guild Wars 2 Press Beta [Prepurchase Is Live]

If you pre-purchase anytime in the future (let's say a month from now) will you still get beta access or is it only for early pre-purchasers? I ask because I am convincing a friend to come play with me but he doesn't have money atm.

As long as it's before the game launches, a pre-purchase is a pre-purchase.

Pre-purchased! Beta will give me the chance to see how well the game runs on my mbp, else I'm building a gaming PC.
First three CBTs were pretty terrible as far as performance go. I wouldn't base my hardware specs based on a beta build. :)

Edit: reading the FAQ but they don't give any time frame on pre-purchase.

I think until there is an end date for the pre-purchase, we can buy anythime

That depends on where, maybe that's true at Gamestop but there's no standard definition for what constitutes a 'pre-order'.

and again, they aren't making you do anything. You pre-purchased knowing there was no release date or beta date information. They don't have a release date because they don't know when it will be ready, that's not being coy, that's being a realistic developer.

I completely agree: I chose to prepurchase the game because I'm hyped for it and I think it'll be great, and I did all that not knowing any BWE dates or the launch date. All I'm saying is alot of people are shrugging it off as being a "realistic developer" or w/e you want to call it. I think its irresponsible and a bad business practice.

Why not just get it from ANet. Unless you're buying the CE or you have credit with any other retailers, people should just save themselves the hassle and get it off the guild wars 2 website.

It's £50 in the UK, which is £15-£20 more than other PC games.

Pre-purchased from Anet, Digital Deluxe cause I want the motherfucking wolf skill

YEA
I too want that fucking wolf skill but $20 goddamn

I find the collector's edition to be priced appropriately and the digital deluxe edition to be completely inexplicable. It should be like $5 extra, or, at the price it is now, include an extra character slot.

I ran down to Gamestop quick again to pay the game off, just to ease my mind about using the code I was told over the phone.

I've got everything in order now. Game is paid off, code is registered. Now I just have to make sure my receipts don't fade before the game is released.

Beta forums not working for anyone else?

Pre-purchased, registered, and smug. Got my GW1 account linked up and my forum handle has no numbers in the user-customizable part. Maybe that's because of the random digits. Can you just have 9999 of any given name because of that post-handle addition?

Did you read my preview? It's a very similar but different breed of MMOs.

No, didn't read it. Looked back a couple pages but couldn't find it.

As I can't play it, judging by videos (even that one the OP said must watch), I'm not interested in this kind of game at the moment even if it is better than WoW. TOR has really wrecked what I want out of an MMO with its fully dialogue storyline.

Add the fact that I'm more interested in the upcoming MMOFPS Planetside 2 and Dust 514, not really sure why I would start GW2. Oh, also getting D3 for sure.

Yeah part of me wants the dd edition but 20 dollars for a wolf skill and a minipet...
Yeah, I was pretty set on getting it until I saw the prices side by side. Goddamn. I think I'm going standard edition through the GW2 website... and I loved GW1. They're just not including enough to warrant 20 dollars. I'm already getting minipets through HoM rewards, and I'm sure the Elite Skill will be entirely useless. Limited use items do nothing for me either. I'll just put that 20 dollars toward something useful in the store like extra storage if anything.

I can tell you that TOR disappointed me as well but GW2 has pleasantly surprised me. If you still want a link to the article here it is: http://www.rpgsite.net/articles/368-guild-wars-2-beta-impressions

I'm too a bit disappointed with the choice of retailers in Sweden.

My favorite Internet store was not listed so I prepurchased from guildwars2.com even if it cost me about 9€ (actually 18€ as I will be purchasing my wifes too) more compared to the retailers.
But the same time I understand that ANet can't know which retailers in every country that have the best Customer Support.

What's wrong with Webhallen? I've never had any issues when it comes to their support. It's pretty dumb to pay for 2½ game just because you've had some issue with them before.

It says e-mail because the e-mail used for your Guild Wars 1 account (not necessarily the NCSoft Master E-Mail) also works just fine.

The only thing I really wanted out of TOR as an MMO is to have a compelling, fully voiced storyline. I don't think GW2 can beat TOR on that front.

From what I've played, it's on par or better - to my surprise. So if you're expecting a great compelling storyline from GW2 with voices then yeah, you'll get it.

so XXXXX@ncsoft is...an email? Totally confused.
But it worked, so it doesn't' matter.

also I just realize...they didn't even tell me if they charge me for tax or not.. just 59.99.. so I guess no tax. :D

hm... didnt work for me when I first tried it, the "username" worked just fine tho.

Always found it confusing that they add a @ncsoft or @plaync to the name.

I bought the game from the Anet site and they sent me a code, what do I do with the code? I tried to register it on my NCSoft master account thing with no luck and don't see a log in option on the GW2 site.

If you originally registered for the game with "i.love.turtles@gmail.com" as your account e-mail, entering "i.love.turtles@gmail.com" along with your Guild Wars account password should register you just fine, is all I'm saying.

Click on the link provided in the e-mail they sent you, paste the code, and enter your old log-in information.

Just got back from GS and when I was there talking with my friend, he literally gets en email about GW2 and reads it to me. It pretty much just informed him about the pre-purchases and to give out codes to those who do. So I paid in full, got my code and just registered.

Something odd regarding billing, I got my DD key and everything but my card wasn't charged.

Usually, I got purchases instantly listed under pending transaction... So I am no sure if they are a little slow, they aren't going to charge me until they fix this tax issue, or this is my bank (TD Bank) issuing a fraud prevention.

edit: Made my order 7 hours ago... surprised it hasn't been posted yet

Maybe use http://support.guildwars2.com/ to ask them if they charged you? I payed this morning (8am EST) with a VISA and they charged me instantly.

When you link your Guild Wars account during the beta registration, do you use your NCSoft account or the email tied to that account?

You use your guild wars account name which is tied to your NCsoft account so yes.

Sweet! Got a call from GameStop this morning telling me I needed to call em back to get my beta code.

Called them, confirmed my identity through a series of vigorous trials, then he told me the key as I threw it into the site.

Anyway, it all worked out in the end and it looks like I'm going to get my CE just fine. :)

Yeah, like I said earlier, my friend received the email not an hour ago so I think they just sent out the notifications.

Went ahead and pre purchased the 79.99 version from the official website, go me.

I suppose this is where I put something like "wallet am cry" like a good forum poster.

That's true. To be honest if I can run the game on low then I'll be happy, at the very least it would give me some more time to save up for a PC.
