Seems very awkward to play with. Maybe if you have sacrifice outlets?

Now I'm starting to see the jank as well. It's going to lead to a lot of headaches and staring at the board with your mouth open.

Regarding Angel of Jubilation, what cards out there allows you to cast or activate abilities by paying life asides from Phyrexian mana?

Yeah it pairs pretty well with sac decks I guess. You are going to want the ability to decouple your soulbound creatures from your T1/2/3 creatures.

And yeah that's how I understand it - the SB creature can be paired with any new creature entering under your control as long as it is unpaired

Yeah, that makes no sense in black on several levels. It deals damage, it targets fliers, and the mirrored damage thing isn't usually black.

EDIT: Why redacted?

It would be consistent with Wizard's tradition of shitting on green.
EDIT: Why redacted?
High chance of being fake. I linked it anyway in case someone was curious.

EDIT: Confirmed fake based on card number, my bad guys.

I was thinking pairing it with undying.
You could just use Killing Wave for that.

"Cast Killing Wave for B, choose not to pay 0 for all my Geralf's Messengers. HURP DURP."

Thats what I meant actually, didn't see the other card

It looked legit enough, and why anyone would waste time making a fake card like that is beyond me. I woulda posted it too.

I think it would have been more clever and gotten more, sustained notice if it had been presented as parody rather than an attempt to "troll" those on the lookout for spoilers. It's a fairly amusing wink to Wizards' "break the color pie" theme in this block, on its own terms.

I feel it's less "break" and more "HOSE BLACK/SCARS BLOCK TO THE GROUND BABY".

I'm keeping my expectations low.

(I really want UG to be an archetype once AVR comes out)

I don't believe there's Flashback in AVR.

Could've misheard though.

Anyway black already has Curse of Death's Hold for that :p

My Burning Vengeance deck is sad :(

It'll be happy again once Return to Ravnica rotates in though. Dem Izzet colors.

So I was wondering something, if I had Total War out and another player had some Indestructible cards (Darksteel) out, but didn't attack with them when he attacks, would those cards be destroyed?
20336_1.jpg

Indestructible: "Effects that say "destroy" don't destroy that permanent. An indestructible creature can't be destroyed by damage."

Since it "destroys" them they will still be intact even if they don't attack. If they had to sacrifice them or exile them they would go bye bye.

So those Alpha starter decks are worth a lot of money now or what? I had two of them when I was in elementary school, I think I eventually used the cards as backs to print out fake cards to play against my friends years later.

Yeah, I think it was middle school or early high school I dug them back up when I found out my friends were playing magic, and I printed anime characters with new abilities on top to troll them.

"What do you mean, Tuxedo Mask isn't tournament legal?"

Don't worry, there's so many card I just threw in a box that got all bent up or the unglued and other older full art lands that I threw out because "I had too much land". Personal Tutor, I had 3 or 4 of when I was younger and now I think I have one bent up one if that.

Jeez, and I feel stupid for giving away old tempest, 4th edition, and mirage block cards back in the day. If I treated alpha cards that way I'd probably want to punch myself in the face.

I want 4 of those!

My paper deck for this weeks Thursday Night Magic 4 Bros

Brian_Scalabrine.jpg

"White Men Can't Jump"

4 Champion of the Parish
4 Doomed Travelers
4 Loyal Cathar
4 Gather Townsfolk
4 Blade Splicers
4 Oblivion Ring
2 Geist of Saint Traft
4 Master Splicer
4 Angelic Destiny
2 Geist-Honored Monk

4 Glacial Fortress
3 Evolving Wild
1 Island
16 Plains

Also, I'm remaking one of my mono Black decks into a discard deck. So far I have:

2x Megrim
2x Duress
2x Bloodhusk Ritualist
1x Fugue
1x Coercion
1x The Rack
1x Geth's Grimoire
1x Guiltfeeder

Any ideas?
Definitely some hypnotic specters.
liliana's caress instead of megrims. Cheaper but does the same thing.
And of course Hymn to Tourach and Inquisition of kozilek, no discard deck is complete without them.
If you can afford it get at least one Lilana of the veil in there.

If you have some dual lands, splash red for blightning. Hellhole rats are an interesting option as well.

Cry of contrition is fairly nice but not a must have.
You might want to consider at least one delirium skeins. It does make you discard 3 cards as well, but if you have a curse or megrim out, that's 6 damage that can end the game for you.
Despise is a great discard card imo.
Dimir cutpurse is a decent three drop creature
Distress is another decent discard card
You might want to try some dream salvages, which will let you draw cards (this one is iffy, I'm just curious if they'd be useful or not)
Some funeral charms are another option
Scepter of Fugue lets you make an opponent discard repeatedly.
If you are rolling in case get some copies of thoughtseize
Unmask will give you an extra discard spell first turn provided you are willing to discard a card for it.

Also remember to have a way to win if discard doesn't pan out (which it very often doesn't). You'll want a plan B so to speak. Most good discard decks I've seen don't make discard the primary means of attack, it's a way to thin out an opponents hand first turn or two and then you drop your own creatures. Tombstalkers might be a good option.

Well, Guiltfeeder and Megrim are my back up for life if discarding doesn't pan out all the way. I do have two Liliana's Caress, but they're in another deck. I also have a few Mind Funerals to play with Guiltfeeder if I have to take them out of my other decks.

I think the only card worth anything is Grim Tutor which is worth about $200 i think.

Eventually, though, they're going to run out of cards for you to discard.

What happens then?
