Ha! It's funny because it's the exact expression I have. I haven't been this excited for a game in a while.

So i tried to explain to the Best Buy people that in order to get the beta stuff you had to pre-purchase (not $5 pre-order). They told me nope, just $5. I put down $5 and got a code on the receipt, and the GW2 registration won't take it.
Did anyone have actual success from Best Buy with this stuff?

So to make it clear: If I pre-purchase a Standard Edition in EBGames, do I get an actual boxed copy of the game when it's released or not?

I was confused and thought that people were only getting codes on receipt when the final game comes out instead of an actual box.
I think in Europe you receive the pre-purchase box and that's it. That's all you get. No retail box just the pre-purchase with your key which will cover you at launch. You have to download EVERYTHING. (This how play.com explained it anyway)
The US appear to be you pre-purchase get the beta/goodies key then go back for release for your retail box.

You won't be able to pre-purchase from NA Amazon due to how their system is setup. Amazon France & Germany are accepting pre-purchases.

Amazon NA only works for Standard/CE preorders. If you preorder through them you pay nothing now and pay on release and you get no beta weekends and only 1 day headstart. If you prepurchase at say Gamestop or BestBuy or from ANet, you pay in full right now and you get all beta weekends and 3 day headstart.
ATM Amazon is only doing pre-order, but it is listed as a retailer who will do pre-purchase in USA: https://buy.guildwars2.com/retailers

Confusing. Ordered DDE for $79.99 on website and got email confirming the amount. Later on, I got fraud alert from my credit card company for $86.13 from NCsoft. At first, I thought it was fraudulent due to not spending anything with that price nor seeing something from NCsoft. Only after clicking on the customer support link in the email, I see NCsoft and figure they are also charging tax.

Just pre-purchased the collector's edition with a friend of mine at Gamestop. The guy at the counter is also a fan and knew of the craziness.
