Definite suspensions:
Asham (cross-check to the throat)
Neal (2 headhunts on 2 straight shifts)
Should-be suspensions:
Bylsma (lost complete control of the team)
Referee (Not kicking James Neal out after the headhunts, which led to another huge fight)
All of the Pens players on the ice would be dead.
Sure seems like it's happened a lot more often than normal over the past few days.Emotions boiled over. It's not like this happens every game.
Someone just brought something up. What if Pronger was playing in this series?
Pretty much this. That set the standard for this playoffs and every injury that comes out of it should be pinned on Shanahan's head. The league is now going to become a nationwide joke if they don't do anything to these players. The weak punishment on Weber started it all.
The national media could have a field day with this if they wanted.
With all due respect, we're watching playoff hockey. It was like this last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, etc.
Whether you think this stuff has a place in the game is your opinion, but to say that something is wrong this season compared to whatever it is your comparing it to is wrong, IMO.
Do people think the hit from Schenn that Asham took exception to was clean? I only saw one replay at normal speed so I have no idea.

Dunno if anyone would agree with this, but I feel like there's been an even greater focus this year on teams being tougher and physically dominant. It's like everyone's trying to follow the Bruins' model for success. This is going to lead to more violent games. And with the PIT/PHI series, the media was really ramping up the rivalry and basically embracing the fact that it would be violent. The players are embracing it.
Adams also. He got an instigator under 5 minutes. Isn't that automatic one game? plus hair pulling.

I don't think everyone realizes just how nasty that game was last night. The Blues are certainly doing that. They're making up for their lack of playoff experience by being goons.
Good argument. You win.New to hockey, eh?
:O what

New to hockey, eh? It's been the same as long as I can remember.
Playoff hockey is rarely this dirty. Intense? Yes. Physical? Sure. This kind of seemingly institutionalized lawlessness? No.
Yeah, back in... '08, '09? Used to come in here and talk shit with TurtleSnatcher the Stars fan. Hoped they'd win the division just so they could add a much needed banner to the rafters. Mii's posting constantly about how stripping Marleau of the C would miraculously change their fortunes in the playoffs, then posting pics of beached sharks. Marty Chin only showing up for the playoffs.
Then my buddy that I used to go to games with moved and they moved the Sharks to Comcast California and that was the end of that.

Fixed.
Anyone saying the actions in this game were "okay" is kidding themselves.
A guy went after Neal's knee. Asham pushed Schenn's face into the ice. Hartnell's hair was pulled. Neal tried taking the head off a player. These things are not "okay." This should not have been allowed to happen.

I will kill James Neal.
Hey... no injuries though. So no suspensions

I don't know why people are freaking out about this stuff. Seems like there should, and will be suspensions handed out.

Once upon a time, I was a San Jose Sharks fan, but that was another life.

There had better be suspensions. The NHL needs to say that this type of conduct will not be tolerated.
I will kill James Neal.
Because the precedent has already been set with the Weber punishment. There was no point for that head-smash but an intent to injure, and a $2500 fine was handed out.
See my edit. I agree that there were some dirty plays, but I still think it's an overreaction to call this game a disgrace/embarrassment/etc.
I never thought I would see the day where fans would actually agree with the instigator rule. You get all the asshole plays (Shaw, Weber, Neal, etc) from guys who know they'll never be held accountable, which leads to this culture of "well if you do this, I'll do THIS!" *head rolls off*...
The game was more violent 25 years ago, but it was less dirty. If you don't understand the distinction between the two, I'm sorry.
I'm all for bad blood between teams but this game simply crossed the line, in my opinion.
Well fuck it, this whole team is a disgrace. Get them out of the league.James Neal is the only player I respect in this shitty organization.
It's not just this game, though.
It's Weber using the boards as a WWE turnbuckle in Nashville. It's the ambush the Senators launched on Boyle last night. It's the brawl that the Sharks-Blues game turned into last night.
This "line crossing" is happening all over the league.
Just got back in from work... recap video anyone?
