Also think about volume not just height. To make a cuboid twice as tall would require 8 times the volume and 8 times the surface area. You might get away with larger bricks, but it'd be MASSIVE and cost way more than any Lego set ever made.

Tower bridge is closer to mini modular scale.
You got a point, judging by the Tower Bridge vehicles.

I finished the Fire Brigade today. It was pretty cool. I think my favorite parts were the top floor bricks, though they used those weird 4-length sideways pieces. I keep having this feeling that not using only plain "ordinary" blocks like my older sets had, it's cheating. :P

Helping the daughter put together 4440 City Forest Police Station at the moment. The set's nice, especially the bear and the 'brick' bricks.

But I'm especially impressed with a couple of little quality of life improvements.

1) There's a little tab in the box lid to make it stay shut after its been opened.

2) The instruction books and DSS are in a bag with a piece of stiff cardboard. No more bent instructions or stickers half peeling off, both of which I seem to have been plagued with lately.

I hope this is a permanent addition to future sets.

Will the 10223 Kingdoms Joust set be available for the forseeable future? I kinda want it, but I really have to find some US internet shop that ships to Germany, the price difference is huge for most sets :/

Those two things were present and correct in the packaging for the Fire Brigade I have just unwrapped...

...and which is the next project for me after yesterday completing the Death Star yesterday.

Death Star is a fantastic set. I can see why many dislike it - but for Star Wars fans/more childish adult Lego fans, it is great.

It just came out this January so it should still be around until 2013 if not later.

Pretty happy with what I got at Toys R Us this morning. I wasn't going to get anymore series 6 but I KNEW it was the cowboy outlaw from the hat!
I like the other series 7 minifigures. The boar knight is pretty cool and will go well with my old knight sets. I like the sharper sword. Also, Tarzan will go well with the two cavewomen I have.
I need to stop though, this was about $13!

Here I was a few weeks ago trying to build a case for my iPhone to prop up for time lapse videos, and I totally forgot that Think Geek had this guy:

I have the Star Trek cases from them, but the Lego case is tempting.

They also now have Lego Moleskine journals:

dang I have to get that set before it goes OOP, any chance of double VIP before that happens?

you're going to buy a huge, expensive set because it has some cute tiny vehicles?

Probably still be around in the fall, when there should be another double VIP points promo

Work-in-progress Hot Rod...

It's a modified version of the B-model from the 8081 set. Chucked a dirty great V8 up front, now working on switching out bits of bodywork for bits that I prefer. Wheels are there as a size guide, I'll probably keep the monster rears but find some black rims for the front. Or, I'll get bored and frustrated that I don't have the pieces that I want.

I felt like an idiot, but I couldn't figure out how to use the tabs on the Fire Brigade box to keep the box sides shut. I would have preferred the old school flip-top lid with a tray inside so I don't have to find my own bags to store the pieces.

nice I like it, just needs more colour imho ;)

and this is me last week in Brighton after picking up a second Fire Brigade ^^

Heh, I'm working on the opposite! Every non-black piece is being slowly replaced with black pieces. When I finish, I aim for it to be 100% black with the exception of the engine block (grey) and seats (which will be red).

I'm at the point now where a Bricklink order looks like a good idea. Might totally rework the bodywork if I'm doing that though.

bricklinking takes some getting your head around it, but then it works out just fine :)

It's so black! You can hardly see it. Light just falls into it.

Finally got myself some Seris 6 figures, more than anything I want the clockwork robot, he's the figure I want the most but Lady Liberty was also a big one for me.

Felt Liberty, then got bored and just grabbed 2 random bags, pretty happy with the turnout.

I got Luke's Landspeeder, constructed it and took a pic with my cellphone but i cannot transfer the pic to my computer for uploading. Damn cellphone cannot send data through bluetooth (only receive), i don't have microUSB, and i cannot connect to Web with the cellphone either.

The speeder is cool, i've always liked Luke's X-34. The lego model could be a bit thicker and a bit shorter for greater accuracy, and the tan should be replaced with darker shade of tan if such existed in legos. Otherwise, cool and nice looking, like the detail a lot. Like the Sandtrooper and the sentry droid, otherwise not a big fan of the minifigs (Luke's hair is too long, the flesh color on minifigs is wrong (yellow is better!) and Artoo's new gray head is horrible and Obi-Wan lacks a cloack and hood (luckily i do have those, i just need to find them).
I might try modifying the speeder a bit, add some computer pieces for the driver and add optional guns. Technical, Star Wars-style.

I think green grocer looks more to scale than the pet shop - pet shop looks a bit small in that lineup

Missing cafe corner though - are you going to buy/bricklink it, or wait to see if the next modular is a corner?

Decided to jump in the modular fun today. Got Fire Brigade from Lego.com and will probably try and pick up the rest at a later time. Seeing that green grocer there makes me kind of bitter, such a gorgeous set. I'd love to buy it at some point.
Edit: Also got the Space Shuttle. Not sure what I'll buy next. Got the Imperial Shuttle, London bridge or VW Van in my sights and maybe another modular.

Keep in mind that the pet shop is really 2 modulars on the footprint on 1. They're not much smaller though. The bottom floor seems to match grand emporium at least. I guess it's meant to be like some old houses where the higher levels are slightly lower than the bottom floor.

I've got to get my hands on that Green Grocer, was it as good a build as the rest of them?

Yes, it has some very nice details. It's probably my favourite one. The ground floor, the actual store with the big fridge is very nice. And there's a fire escape and a rooftop terrace on the back of the building.

Yeah I think I will wait and see if the next building will be a corner. And I spent already way too much money on LEGO this year.

Wasn't thrilled with the little rocket and radar platform that came with the snowtropper battle pack so I combined it with the Creator propeller plane.

It's my first "MOC" as an adult. Finding solutions to size and structure problems from the limited pieces was really exciting. I had to rebuild the cockpit a few times to fit the imperial driver's helmet. Tried various ways of mounting a rifle to the front. The double handed arm thing was the most structurally sound and looks cool in a WWII way.

The snow speeder sits snugly even when flipped over as long as the back part is stuck on the little nub sticking out of the engine, but comes off easily straight out.

I cheated and left the plane landing gear nearly intact. When I get more parts I will work on the bottom and back more. Either needs bigger wheels or a smooth surface to glide.

That looks great! Very imposing, like an open air tank. Bigger wheels would probably be the way to go but a hovercraft type bottom might look cool. The red really makes it pop too.

I think I'll look into bricklinking it, looks too awesome to miss out on.

I got my pick a brick's today and managed to get the first floor together.

^ £70 worth of lego..

I had a few small mistakes in my order and ended up getting 3 of something when I needed 4, and so on, not that big a deal but having to replace a few 1x2 flat white plates with mail pieces is just sad. I'll take better pictures later in the week when I have the whole thing done.

The one thing that sucked above all else was using the lego digital designer instructions, it seems to have a mind of it's own as to how to piece this thing together. Stuff like putting the walls up first, then the floor tiles, oh and adding the base plate last as a finishing touch cause you really don't need it to hold the damn thing together.

Best thing is seeing it go from digital to real though.

Looking good. And did I start a trend with my Deadpool pics? :)

I've got a serious Lego itch going right now and I need to buy a new set or two.

It's either the soon to be OOP Alien Conquest Earth Defense HQ for $78.00 on Amazon

OR

Order the Y-Wing from Lego.com and an X-wing in another month or so.

What do I do, Lego-GAF?!

So bummed that I missed the Lego.com clearance sale on the Earth Defense HQ!

Warning: I got the Earth Defense and it made me want to buy the rest of the series. Already ordered Mothership, may get Abduction next.

Thanks! Red and white looks more X-Wing than imperial though, so if I had the pieces I would replace with grey or white.

My wife bought me the AC Space Jet-Copter Encounter (#7067) for Christmas and I've been jonsing for the Earth Defense HQ ever since. Guess I'll go ahead and pull the trigger on the Amazon order!

I haven't really been into Lego Star Wars since the original series back in 1999-2001. So I can easily skip the the recent updates. However, I did see the new SWTOR sets coming this summer. The Republic Striker-class Starfighter (#9497) & Fury Class Interceptor (#9500) will be mine.

maybe you can upload the image directly via your phone to imgur or something?

Ive got this set but each time i see a picture of it i think its some new awesome set, i forget how good it looks.

There was a big red creator truck released around the same time that is pretty awesome too

Nah it wasn't a fire truck, it was a big rig kind of truck, I'm in my phone atm so I can't really look it up easily.

I do like that fire truck though and meant to pick it up at some stage, is it still in production?

Well my idea of making a custom bane minifigure mask were shot down in flames.

After a night of fucking around trying to track down some consistent schematics of a lego minifigure head so I could model it in maya I finally modelled one up and started to rough out the shape of the mask to sit over the minifig head.

To make sure the stud on top of the head is covered and thick enough to be strong the mask looks ridiculous, it's super wide and thick on top and thin on the front\sides\back. It looks like some sort of freaky mohawk.

Oh well, back to my original plan A of waterslide decals.
