PS Vita general advice thread, part 3 | Veni, vidi, Vita

Honestly? I dunno. I love mine and I haven't had a second of buyers remorse, but, if you waited this long, I can't see how it would hurt to wait a while longer for the library to flesh out.

If you never owned a PSP it might be a more tempting proposition.

I have the PS3 version and I'd rather play that. I'm all about Zone Mode with custom soundtracks and a big-screen. Similarly, I haven't grabbed Rayman Origins because I'd rather play it co-op on the PS3.

I used to have a PSP, but found that I never used it. Most of my PSOne and PSN games I enjoy on my PS3. I know that I will be getting a Vita eventually, but just can't seem to justify it yet. Maybe when there's a canon Metal Gear game...

Paint Park, Treasure Park and Wake Up Club Coming to PS Vita for Free

PlayStation Vita owners can look forward to a trio of free applications to help you make the most of the handheld console’s unique features, the first of which will be available to download this week, on April 18.

Turning the PS Vita’s impressive 5”OLED screen into a sketch pad, Paint Park is fun for beginners and expert artists alike. Using PS Vita’s touchscreen to make and share drawings; you can doodle, sketch and scribble quickly and easily with the virtual markers and on-screen colour palette. The PS Vita’s front and rear cameras can play a part too, as you can take pictures and add your own creative imaginings to them.

Simple and fun Paint Park can also be a socially rewarding as users can share their work and even compete with up to five friends in the online multiplayer via the Ad Hoc mode.
This summer we’ll be releasing Treasure Park, an application that allows you to create your own puzzles to challenge your friends with. It’s a great way to connect with friends and other PS Vita users, as you can use the near application and 3G to find puzzles to play and share your own, wherever you are.

And finally, Wake-Up Club will also be available this summer. This application turns your PS Vita into an alarm clock that can sync up with other PS Vita users who set their alarm for the same time.

We hope that PS Vita owners will check out these new, free applications, starting with Paint Park on 18 April.

new Trent very kindly sent me a galaxy tab inline adapter cable for free - the one that comes with the IMP99D. It's now charging my vita nicely from my new Trent IMP70D.

Got my 16gb like-new Vita memory card from Amazon's Warehouse Deals. I opened up the box and saw the item in a 8gb package (card was turned over, so I couldn't read how large it was). I thought okaaayyy. Opened the packaging and there was a 4gb card inside! Wow. They got everything wrong! Talking with CS now. They're giving me a new 16gb card for the price of the like-new one with free one day shipping. Win!

I wonder what the chances are of us getting stuff like Zenonia on vita once the PSuite makes its debute. I've been messing with those on my phone and the games seem quite good for free RPGs, but I hate useing the screen as my sole controller. I just feel my fingers are too large and I end up doing things I don't intend.

I hope Lord of Apocalypse gets released over here, the demo was very solid and far more enjoyable than expected. Definitely better than their first attempt.

Ragnarok Odyssey was also very solid and enjoyable. Any information on wether this will get a release too?

Just a heads up, Zenonia is a mini I believe, and it's even on the Vita PS Store. There's actually quite a few iPhone/Android games that were made into mini's awhile ago already on the store. Not sure of their quality though, and some of them may have suffered because the PSP didn't have a touch screen, but it might be worth checking out.

Ugh, the music stopping when visiting the menus is so jarring. Why the hell would anyone design a game like that? Did the phone version do that too?

I've never seen that before in an RPG.

I want to get a PSP game, but can't decide which one... I want it to be a BIG game ( as uncharted is for Vita, not a like a mini ). Here what I have in mind so far :

MG : PW ( fan of the series, but it's being a while since I played a stealth game )
Patchwork Heroes
GoW ( don't know which one is better )
Ys : ( don't know which one is better , but I would say The oath in felgana looks like something I could enjoy the most )
Half Minute Hero
Prinny
Ultimate Ghost'n Goblins
GTA : Chinatown wars

Also, about the online pass. How is that suppose to work ? If I buy the Unit13 game , retail version, I still have to pay 10$ to play online. And that for everygame that supports multiplayer ? For real ? When that has been the norm ? Does games like FIFA have that as well ?

guys, i bought uncharted today which is brilliant, what other retail games should i pick up? i've already decided to buy super stardust delta when i get some store credit.

Online passes are meant to discourage buying the game used.

All new copies of the game, be it digital or physical, include the online pass.

Half Minute Hero
These should be your top priority.

Every retail game that has an online pass has a code inside the box. You just redeem it and get your online pass. You don't need to pay extra. It only sucks for used games and second accounts.

One question guys. I have 3 psn accounts on my ps3, pal psn(main), usa and japan. Can I buy a psp game from the us psn store and transfer it to my pal vita? Its dj max portable 3, a game that is not on the pal psn store.

Did you chat, call, or email them? I emailed them like 2 days ago (about my fucked up "Lie New" Vita) and never heard back. Le sigh....

You can transfer it to your PAL Vita; however, you will not be able to access DJ Max Portable 3 on your PAL Vita unless you're signed in to your US PSN profile.

Region-free gaming lacks a lot of benefit when said content is locked to a different profile than one you normally use. Really, the only content that the Vita is fairly flexible about not locking to a profile are Vita demos.

MGS PW Is a big game bigger than uncharted (60+ hours) but i really enjoyed ad hoc with multiplayer mission but if you don't think you'll miss it then go buy it.

Ys seven is cool ARPG and very fast pace
Prinny: your experience will be kinda like super meat boy but worth it(note: I never finish cause was it too hard)

You will have to sign in the same PSN account you bought DJMAX Portable 3 on your VITA (system region do not care) to be able to transfer your files from PS3.

Well after two months of dicking around i am finally getting my 32gb memory card for 39 bucks from Tigerdirect. Woohooo!

They sent me the e-mail... I clicked the link for them to e-mail me to tell them I was interested in still getting one and they never replied/let me know. What's the deal with that?

Can I get a list of VITA games that have Custom Soundtrack support? I already know that MotorStorm RC and Gravity Rush have it, and I think the JP release of Dynasty Warriors Next got it via an update, but I'm not sure the update is available in the west.

...and whatever happened to the VITA version of Malicious?
All games have custom soundtrack. It is a feature in the Vita OS.

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems that some games doesnt support it for some reason.

It doesn't let you play music in the background? You just start music in the music player then switch to your game - you might need to kill the music in the game though as I don't think all (any?) games do that automatically.

I just tried starting music and then booting the game. As soon as it boots it kills the music instantly.

Just found this: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/620272-playstation-vita/62132720?page=4

Games that do not support Custom Soundtrack

Rayman Origins
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Dynasty Warriors Next
Lumines: Electronic Symphony
Touch my Katamari
Little deviants (demo)

These are the games that haven't been confirmed.

Asphalt: Injection
Hustle Kings
Reality Fighters
Dungeon Hunter: Alliance
ModNation Racers: Road Trip
Virtua Tennis 4
Army Corps of Hell
Ben 10 Galactic Racing
Michael Jackson The Experience
Plants vs Zombies
Weird, wonder why some kill it?

I always chat with them. That way I get an instant response and the matter gets dealt with right then and there.

Cool. I just chatted with them and they offered me 10% off, which made my Vita like 160-something. I'll take that, I guess. I'll probably sell it and get a new one once some fun colours come out, so I'll just use this as an excuse to not try and baby it like I do most of my electronics. I should have asked for 20%, but having worked in customer service for 10 years...I just couldn't.

I wonder what happened to Top Darts Vita. I'm probably the only person who cares, but it was supposed to be a launch title and it still hasn't come out. No sign of it in today's update. Oh well.

Was a launch title in the UK, but I guess you're based in the US. :(
