So if I do that to every card I draw, then it's a great mind game. I know this is a pretty grey area, but wouldn't that constitute as stalling?

You won't have to take too much time looking at your draws to make your opponent wonder if it was a Miracle card you pulled. Most of the time people take their draw and immediately add it to their hand. If you take even a second or two to look at it separately from your hand then they'll have reasonable evidence to believe what you just drew was a Miracle card.

So I wouldn't worry about stalling as an issue, as long as you don't take minutes to look at the draw.

Man I am so happy Borderland Ranger got reprinted. I have always loved that card to death, it's such a cool and elegant yet simplistic card that embodies green quite but only cool unlike Civic Wayfinder . Seems like a possible 1 of in Pod decks too just to keep the chain going.

Right, so this guy is a bit narrow. He's great if you can afford the extra two to drop him alongside something else you want to have haste. He can also be good in the later game if the thing he initially bonded to dies and you can re-bind him to a large body that you're playing.

1. Yes, but a 2/1 for 2 isn't unplayable in Limited. He's a nice small creature to drop alongside something scarier slightly later in the game.

2. No, a lot of the spoilers just happen to come from non-English magazines.

What happens when you use Soulbond with +0 Gideon? What happens after the end of turn?

They become unbonded because the gideon creature ceases to exist. So the remaining creature can then become bonded with a new creature entering the battlefield.

Triumph of Ferocity could be quite good in some EDH decks, but I don't see it being very effective in most other formats. I would never ever waste my three drop on it with my type 2 mono green (a sword or a dungrove elder is a far better drop) and ramp decks dont want to waste a turn that early on an enchantment that will give them card advantage far later in the game when they are ideally already set to win anyways. Will fit very nicely in my Uril EDH though, and if I still had my Azusa deck it would be a star in that.

Most of the miracles are not good enough that you would just slap them in your deck automatically. They are dead weight in your opening hand and most can be useless even with miracle cost. I'd rather not build my deck to rely on luck.

Garruk is my favourite character in Magic the Gathering since he's a green and he's a huge bearded dude, and of course that means he needs to be the whipping boy of the planeswalkers. Boo.
Fuck you Liliana.

The art on Triumph of Ferocity is great. But it's not really that great, right? You lose a turn to establish board position for an enchantment that will hopefully draw you an extra card per turn; does that really help you? Ramp decks are already getting a form of card advantage, and they won't want to do this turn three anyway (they'll ideally be on four lands and looking to drop another mana source or a genuine threat like a huntmaster). And aggro decks really don't want to waste time on this either.

Maybe late game to help break a stalemate? I dunno. Is there going to be a full cycle of Triumphs?

Messageboards are enough when the new cards leak. I can read some of the cards but definitely not all. :D

It's also useful if you gain control of a creature. Most people seem to forget that, but to be fair it's a scenario that doesn't happen all too often.

Hey, you don't know which of those two cards happens last.

Edit: Wait, nevermind. Read the flavor article. The black card totally comes last. But he doesn't die.

No, the mechanic would be too good then probably

Actually, if you look at what it says :

Soulbond (you may pair this creature with another unpaired creature when either enter the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as you control both of them.

"you may pair this creature" ; it specifically does not mention "unpaired" creature, while it does so when it talks about the other creature. Meaning the Soulbinder can bind to someone else even if it is currently paired when the new creature does enter the battlefield.

When a creature with soulbond enters the battlefield, you may pair it with another unpaired creature you control. When another creature enters the battlefield under your control, if you control a creature with soulbond that isn't currently paired, you may pair it with the new creature.

I believe the clause in the rules text that enforces this it that it specifies it must be paired with "another unpaired creature" which implies the soulbound creature must also be unpaired. And also that it says that they remained paired as long as you control both.

...that's some badly written rule text if I've ever seen it, then. =/

...at first I didn't understand what you meant, but then it was like one of those black and white picture puzzles and I recognized how "another" could make the whole phrase read two different ways.

Hippie Garruk? Not sure if want.

I just hope they don't give a potential GW planeswalker some crappy lifegain move.

I hope not. I'm tired of the majority of two color crossovers recently being black. Corrupted Planeswalker is already a cliche.

Yeah. Keep in mind I'm also a nerdy guy, but one of the worst nerd tropes (stemming from the power fantasy thing, I'm guessing) is that everything has to be "evil" to be cool or whatever. Everything must be dark and corrupted or it's boring.

Thematically speaking it's really easy to insert black into just about anything.

Example, what would Jace going red represent?

Or Nissa going blue?

At least Sarkhan looks genuinely fucked up in his R/B form.

EDIT: Jace going red would be cool. It would be him losing some control, getting a bit more emotional.

The end of the flavor article suggests Garruk lives and might turn GW

I also got that impression. I hated when they made Garruk GB, I honestly think he shouldn't have gone gold IMO. At least GW is better than GB, which clashes with Nissa, but Garruk is so very mono green. GW is also also kinda Ajani-ish, wasn't Ajani's deck in DotP GW? Plus white already has plenty planeswalkers (Elspeth and Gideon, the two coolest non-Garruk planeswakers, Ajani, now Sorin).

I'm just Garruk didn't go heavy black and was just flip "black". I wish there were more mono color planes walkers. Seems like color combos really limit some. :/

Actually I think this is false, and the creature would remain paired with Gideon. There's not a whole lot of precedent for this, but the closest analogy I can think of is where if you activate a Manland, and +1/+1 counters are added to it, the counters still remain even though it isn't a creature anymore.

Creature enchantments fall off because the rules specifically disallow them from being attached to non creatures at any time, but I don't think soul bond has that restriction

I think I prefer color comboes on Planeswalkers. Otherwise people just throw them into any deck with the mana base to support them.

Well we did get a new awesome pure-green Garruk in 2012

Looting is not a particularly bad effect, people like to loot.

It's his RR cost that really hurts, as well as his super narrow abilities.
