IAnd yet, one of the first thing I said when we moved to this new place was.. "finally! A place worthy of entertaining!

Out of touch.. I am soo..

I seem to get a big enough crowd at my soirées. But it's always a massive effort of constant advertising for a month to ensure this. And younger people don't like things like ball pits and slip'n'slides and jungle gym domes like they used to. D:

Microsoft: June 4th, 10AM PST (1PM EST)
EA: June 4th, 1PM PST (4PM EST)
Ubisoft: June 4th, 3PM PST (6PM EST)
Sony: June 4th, 6PM PST (9PM EST)

Man, Monday is PACKED. It won't stop all day. Nintendo is really doing the smart thing by always going on Tuesday.

Out of morbid curiosity, when's Konami's

I'm willing to bet that this console will be the one where I could walk right into any store on launch day and simply pick one up.

Maybe I'm not following the choppy English here, but "hasn't the capacities" to render all these things at the same time across multiple screens is what made me ask the question.
It can't render three complex scenes at once, no.
It can, however, do more simplistic stuff on the tablets or the TV and do it that way.

Ewww, that's gross.
How would people be able to stand 4 conferences :/

Well, they can't have too many conferences on Tuesday, because it would overlap with the show floor opening hours. (I think Nintendo's Conference normally ends 1 hour before the show floor opens.)

We don't know yet, and we're not even sure they're even gonna have one this year. I mean, after last year...

I'm relieved about Tuesday, if true. Journalists are going to be stressed.. and maybe grumpy about being rushed from one location to another.

Looks like it stops at 4PM EST to 9 PM EST.

Hm should I bother taking the day off from work? I'm only looking forward to Nintendo to be honest...then again it's E3 week.

Unfortunately, "complex scenes" is a really, really subjective term.

The maximum quality level of rendering it can do to one screen is more than it can do to two screens, which is more than it could do to three screens. This is just regular mathematical logic. There's no real news to what IdeaMan is saying this time around. He's basically just saying that to do three separate renders, you have to render at much lower quality.

Well, duh.

The fact that Nintendo hasn't given a date and time yet is scaring me. When did they give it last year?

Also, I think I have a final on Monday that will cause me to miss the start of Microsoft's conference. :(

I'm going to be following the conferences from work. Suck on that, non computer people!

I think I would be satisfied if Konami's conference happens (they have to, there's so much more work to be done!), then a half hour laughter break, then Nintendo.

I'm kinda regretting not taking Monday; it's gonna be a huge day, and the bar will be set for Nintendo. But it saves me some leeway for when I take time off for the Symphony, preorder camping, and Launch Week.

Now, 1 light 720p content (a ranking list, a 2D map, etc.) + 4 480 not ultra detailed with to-the-roof poly count titles, well, the hardware may handle that (i'm talking about rendering capabilities here, not streaming possibilities).
If Wii U doesn't have the wireless bandwidth for this, the four streams could be 360p, which is the size of each view of a four player splitscreen game at 720p. If the subscreen can accept sub-480p signals and upscale them itself, the wireless bandwidth for 4 360p streams is not significantly higher than 2 480p streams. Assuming minimal or no usage of the TV, the visuals should look as you'd expect a splitscreen game at 720p to look.

So those rumors about unlocking a second Upad are baseless? Does the resource drain of the Upad jeopardize 1080p support?

No, he's talking about the system producing three different complex scenes, one at 720p and two as 480p. However the controller screens don't have to be used for complex or unique scenes, so in other circumstances 2 or more controllers should be usable.

Also it could be that while a third party engine not optimised for WiiU can't do three complex scenes at once an optimised engine may be able to. Building an engine that's tailored to the hardware can make one hell of a difference to performance.

The resource drain of using the controller screen comes down to what the developer decides to use it for. He can theoretically use from 0 to 100% of the systems resources on the controller, so wether use of the controller screen will jeopardize something like 1080p support just comes down to what the developer decides to use those resources for.

That was an awesome gif Chinner posted.

I was going to take off anyway, but my "light week" seems to be on track to coincide with the goodness anyway. :)

I did that last year, didn't take off Monday and only took Tuesday.
Regretted it so much because of how abysmal the MS conference was.
Not this year!

:lol

Last year they sent out invites in early May.

Thankfully, Mondays at the hospital are very, very slow. So I should be able to watch the festivities from the control booth with not much interruption. I mean, I'm on here all week from work with no problems usually.. :P

I guess it's something he's always wanted to do.

Well at least if most of E3 turns out crappy you'll be getting paid for it.

Maybe I will take Monday off just for the thrill.

But you'll miss live announcements like 599 US DOLLARS, giant enemy crabs, and stuff like this

I've got to admit. Microsoft's E3 conference is somewhat enjoyable because of all this.

They'll be hard pressed (for me, at least) to beat the woman who was yelling at Bing 'Bing movies' 'Bing games'. That was the point I realised Microsoft had lost their minds.

We'll get 20 minutes of a really boring part of CoD:BO2, then some Kinect pre-recorded garbage, then a tease of some game that will likely not exist, then 30 minutes of Halo 4, then more Kinect garbage.

Some infos concerning the padlets

In a v4 dev kit context, with third-party involved, ports & titles using inhouse engines (not really tailored for the Wii U), the system hasn't the capacities to render 1 720p complex content on the TV, and 2 480p intricate scenes at the same time, with a good enough framerate. The "v5" dev kits won't change this situation. And i really don't think that with first-party, it will be a totally different outcome.

Now, 1 light 720p content (a ranking list, a 2D map, etc.) + 4 480 not ultra detailed with to-the-roof poly count titles, well, the hardware may handle that (i'm talking about rendering capabilities here, not streaming possibilities).

That'a a bummer. I wonder how much in the way of resources the geomoetry and light calculations take etc? Because 70 + 2x480 is still considerably under a 1080p screen in pure pixels.

As you said, engine isn't optimised. If we can, on an optimised engine, get pure graphical sex on 3 views I'll be happy.

If my kids grow up in an environment like this I will no longer want to live in the 'civilized' world.

We already have friends who chat all night to each other without needing to be in proximity. That started a couple decades ago and became the default means of talking about eight or nine years ago. Friends play games with their friends through the Internet instead of in the same living room or bedroom. If you want to express your admiration for your friend's new drapes, you click "like" on the photo instead of nodding approvingly in front of it.

It's already happening. Frankly, the only remaining reason to actually invite somebody over is to fuck, and they're working on that one, too.

The megaton announcement at Nintendo's E3 conference will be that solution.

And now you know the true purpose of the Vitality Sensor.

It's bad enough that it was irrelevant day one due to Google, but Bing in general had one of the worst marketing campaigns ever. Remember the headache inducing "What has search overload done to us?" commercials?

Yep. Haptics truly will be considered a megaton. :)
