Shouldn't his own spirit be unbendable for him to be able to do that?
For energy bending, he would just have to have stronger will than his opponent. But we don't know if this is energy bending yet. Sure looks like it though...

We didn't see what exactly he did, and there was no fantastic lightshow. Not convinced.
Maybe it is.
Amon is terrifying. Absolutely terrifying.

It isn't necessarily the same technique but it seems to do the same thing.
The cynic in me will say its all a ploy and everyone is acting somewhat. Mainly because Bolin was saved before he could be subjected to it.
This show needs to be a hour long event..
Okay, I demand to know who thought playing an episode of Fred: The Series was a good idea?
Who is this douche on nick right now and what is wrong with his voice?

Lightning became much weaker...
and so much more common. How?
Wouldn't pro benders be able to put a better fight against Amon's goons than street thugs?
Korra 3
That would be interesting actually.
Mako is Batman
Amon is Batman
Mako is Amon?
Wouldn't pro benders be able to put a better fight against Amon's goons than street thugs?

They were at the same place though.
Unless the person we know as Mako isn't really who he says he is :O

Did Amon's story of his childhood seem like a ploy to anyone else? That...that was obviously a lie, right?
Mhh you may be right, but somehow I doubt it, especially since the first victim was the boss of a big crime syndicate.
But either way, Amon's fighting abbilities, as well as the Equalits's is very impressive.
Also there's no way its acting. Bolin would have mentioned it to Korra/Mako and from the preview it looks like he didn't.

Metal bending police. With the dissolution of the royal family I am assuming advanced bending techniques became 'public' knowledge.
Why did everyone take Amon's powers to cause permanent loss of bending powers? Chi blockers do the same, but temporarily (of course). I guess they took him at face value because he didn't touch a bunch of pressure points... but it still seems fishy to me.
Sounds like an excuse/sob story to get the people on his side plus not question his mask imo but hey you never know.
This is so going to turn out like Naruto Shippuden.
Amon is Aang.
Who wants to bet at some point in the series Korra is going to have her bending taken away? Then she'll have to discover her spirituality in order to get it back?
Nah, Amon is Zuko.
Who wants to bet at some point in the series Korra is going to have her bending taken away? Then she'll have to discover her spirituality in order to get it back?
This seems very probable. Book Two Spirit.

Part of me thinks that's interesting, but how would they do a whole half-season (at the very least) in the spirit world?
I have no doubt that Book Two will be Spirit, but I'm not so sure Korra will lose her bending.
