I didn't hate the original series, I just kind of grew out of it once Nickelodeon started putting it on during weird times.

From what I saw of it, I really liked it. I have nothing against the original Avatar, but the new series just has this "ooomph" that I enjoy. Perhaps it's the older characters and city setting?

Dont forget that sweet HD

Pretty sure Katara says "my bro be dead" in the first ep. (She also says 'my friends are dead' but Zuko is gallivanting around being old according to the game on the site, so I don't know what's up with that)

She said most of her friend are gone. I doubt the Gaang is the only friends she ever made.

Do we know if Sokka still alive?

Zuko
is alive and
he
has a statue.

Yeah, she did say Sokka is dead. Also, I think she says: "almost all of my friends are dead now"

People, please put that stuff into spoiler tags, we've been over this. Some people don't want to know information that hasn't been aired yet and I think that's a wish we should respect.

Edit: Imagine coming in here and not knowing about this particular piece of information. That's a HUGE ruined surprise.

You're right it hasn't aired; but if the creators thought of including such a detail in their official website [not really hidden away], doesn't that make it seem like they wanted
people to know, as a trivial aspect of the story?

All in all, spoilers are spoilers -- I know I would much rather know on the moment of airing.

I can agree with both sides, I myself don't care about spoilers since I keep up with every new bit of information anyway. But I still feel sorry for people who don't watch trailers or previews since they want to watch the series as it airs.

So Mako and Bolin's parents were killed by a firebender. Amon's family was killed by a firebender. The firebenders were the antagonists in the 100 year war. Why are all the killers always firebenders? They should mix it up and have a rampaging waterbender or earthbender going around causing trouble for a change.

The Triple Thread Triads seem to have benders of all types.

Though the leader was also a firebender...

It might also be that firebending is just naturally a more aggressive style, and people who learn it are predisposed to aggression? Or it is possible Zuko/Aang dropped the ball and didn't completely get rid of the corrupted style fueled by rage.

I guess the nature of firebending makes it easier to exploit and abuse. Plus, there was a hundred year of programming done to a group of people that thought they were superior to everyone. I'm sure there's still a few left even in Korra's time that still thinks so.

I guess its due to them being more prone to aggression plus fire is a very dangerous element.

But yea i made that observation before in the thread and started to chuckle

Waterbenders are too busy freezing their butts off.

As for Earthbending, well...

I was thinking more of you saying Aang was annoying than disliking the show, though that is good to hear!

Wasn't Azula the only that can bend electricity? Now it seems all the firebenders are capable of doing it now. How is Mako a firebender and Bolin a earthbender?

Azula, Ozai and Iroh were know lightning benders. Zuko couldn't do it at the time because of his inner turmoil, but I bet he learned it later in his life. Apparently, during TLA most firebenders just didn't know how to do it, that's why it is more common now since the inowledge must have gotten out.

Their parents were probably earth and firebenders, that's how it happened.
