That's my guess too. The very premise of the game is ripping smash bros off (using brand characters to sell the game) so why not just go all the way and make it super accessible?

I'm interested in how will they handle the trophy thing. It would be cool if game completition trophies could unlock characters in stages in the game.

I wonder how many 3rd party characters will make it. I would guess due to licencing and every publisher wanting a cut that they would limit the number in the retail release and sell a few as DLC.


Hopefully it gets long term support like LBP. I could see buying AC3 and unlocking a assassin character or buying any game and getting a character added.

I guess Parappa is a good call, but I'd love to see some more obscure characters on the roster.

I really don't know who the target demographic is for this, but a little fan service towards the people who have played games prior to the PS3 goes a long way. I can think of several great PS1 characters besides Crash and Spyro (*points at avatar*) who'd fit right into a cartoony beatem up game.

We don't even need 3rd party characters, though I guess the right ones wouldn't hurt. Smash Bros works as well as it does because it rewards gamers who recognize the Nintendo canon, and introduces said canon and new games to new players.

Also like the guy above me said, I can see a possible deal between Sony and third party publishers for stuff like "pre-order this game and get this character in All Stars Battle Royale." Help promote the third party game, helps promote Battle Royale, and gives us a more diverse roster.

I dont agree with that really.We so far have 10 major characters and 2 minor,not every major character is going to make it anyway.

I guess they wanted FP so they can to have a female from a different game.

The rumor line-up so far is fantastic.,they could have mod guy instead of Sackboy, or Sev instead of Radec.

I hope they keep the 3rd part characters to a minimum. Honestly I wouldn't care if Crash and Spyro are not because I was never a fan but the ones that deserve a character slot are Snake(Old and young), Selvaria Bles(dream come true), Lara Croft and Kazuma Kiryu.
