New PS3 Exclusive Revealed Next Week On GTTV (Superbot's PS All-Stars)

I can't take that quote seriously, it's pretty much a copy and past of Smash Bros. Not tht it doesn't sound good but nothing strikes out as different, everything on that list has been said by fans many many times. I'd like to give SuperBot a little more credit and think they will surprise us.

The man broke the news on the game. This game is sounding like sex the more I read about it.

More Q&A (I missed reading this originally)

Q13] Only Nintendo has nailed the Smash Bros. formula, so will this be any good?

A13] This game is so long overdo for PlayStation fans that trust me: a lot of time, effort, and studying has gone into the development. The game will not be rushed, which is why it wasn’t shown at E3 this past June, nor has it been officially revealed to the major media outlets. This is an important game for the PlayStation 3 to have as it will help fill in that gap of “exclusive fighting game” in the system’s library. The fighting genre is one of my specialties and developers know this. This game is necessary for the PS3 and will for its demographic, hopefully deliver big time.

Whoa hang on, where did you get to play it/see it/

A lot of the art/menus, right down to the design of the game’s name are still in what I call “placeholder mode”.

I'm sure this will be fine eventually, 'cause the developer's website is slick.

Sephiroth too. He's arguably more iconic than Cloud is/was.

yeah, Sephiroth would be a great addition if they're going to have more than one character per series in some cases.

All of this speculation is making me want to play some Smash Bros. in anticipation lol. I really hope this game delivers because I could see myself and friends pouring hundreds of hours into this just like Melee/Brawl.

they picked the right time to show reveal this game. lets hope it's released before fighting genre is old news and the next genre to do is sports.

I don't know... you can create some really interesting new sports games with a little bit of creativity. I could play Quidditch World Cup all day long.

Agreed. And online play should be great on PSN. Smash series is a ton of fun and one of Nintendo's best series.

If they could marry this with some level up/experience features (ala CoD), it could really hit the right notes, although I think that may be unlikely...it would undoubtedly boost its popularity

The concept of Quidditch is so broken though. There's pretty much no point in having good Chasers when the team that catches the Snitch wins 90+% of the time.

Speaking of sports games though, Super Mario Strikers soccer game for gamecube is the best sports game I've ever played. So good.

Smash Bros. and Fire Emblem were the only reasons I bought a Wii, and I don't regret it. If this game even comes close to Smash Bros. quality I'll be plenty satisfied.

What about Echochrome dude? He should be in this. He would destroy all.

nah man.

T-Rex the from PS1 demo disc will rule all.

I hope all characters remain as faithful to there original art style as possible even if it makes things look a little silly.

I wasn't a fan of how everyone is the last Smash brothers has the same weird textured look to them.

Cel shaded characters should still be cel shaded.
Kratos should still look messed up.
Nathan Drake should look like Drake.

Hearing Parapa will still be 2D gives me hope.

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle-Cars is still one of my favorite sports game and it didn't even require that much creativity. Flying cars playing over-sized soccer, instant fun.

Unlocking actual gameplay elements is the stupidest thing to come of gaming. You can have other unlocks if you want, but if it's actual gameplay related then have it available from the start.

i wonder if 360 can do a crossover game...?

When there is a will, there is a way, though I think that would be a little bit more difficult: Master Chief, Marcus Phoenix, Too Human character? Joanna Dark? Crackdown characters? Best character would be the Hero in fable games.

and perhaps for nextgen, all the characters from sony, nintendo, and microsoft can join in on an ultimate fighting game :P

one can dreamm., i really want to see some gameplay- 2 more days!

My dream would be to have at least one game, a shooter for example, where PS3 players could play with 360 players. Obviously this won't happen but like you said, one can dream <3

Microsoft do have nice set of characters and IPs, with all rare stuff from KI cast to Conker and all other characters from one shots games Microsoft own like Blinx, Tork, Splosion Man,Lost Odyssey,Blue Dragon...ect

this post remind me of the some people/SSB fans who said the same thing about this game when we got the first rumors, saying Sony don't have enough characters then other people posts huge lists of Sony's good characters.

Would be weird seeing a Microsoft Smash Bros game, simply because most of their recognizable IP (outside Halo and Gears) are from RARE games that were mostly remembered for being on Nintendo systems.

"ya bro remember rare golden days ? jump in"

Getting many of the old Nintendo fans to buy 360s and Microsoft Smash Bros game using nostalgia power should be part of the Microsoft plan(if they are going to make a smash bros clone in the future)

Heh, looking through SuperBots website and they have a bunch of photos of the team and there studio. Some of them are pretty interesting. For instance, do you notice anything about this one?

Ah ok, hard to keep up with over 20 pages.

Going to be slightly disappointed if this turns out to be near identical to Smash Bros. I like that style of gameplay and all but I guess I was hoping for something a little more unique. Makes sense though.

Smash Bros is something that they should be playing even if it isn't a copy of that gameplay. It's the most successful and accessible fighter out there. So it's a good idea to play it and try to figure out how they nailed their formula so well.

I always thought it wasn't so much that Sony lacked characters, but they really lack that mainstream character(s) that everyone knows like Mario or Pikachu.

I'm sure it will be very similar to Smash, but I have enough faith in the developers to make it unique enough to stand on its own. The fact that the studio is made up of former Naughty Dog and Santa Monica employees gives me enough optimism to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah that is a concern. I mean, Nathan Drake and Kratos are probably popular enough to be on the level of characters like Samus, but Nintendo can sell anything with a picture of Mario on the cover. Sony doesn't have anything on that level.

I really hope they skew towards gameplay instead of graphics.
This needs to have 4 player local splitscreen and a ton of characters.

it'll probably focus a lot on customization and UGC somehow.

Oh and they need a replay mode and screenshot feature. That's a must. a full featured lobby system.

and import my HOME character

Blue Dragon IP is owned by Microsoft? how did they allow the series to be published for the DS? Lost Odyssey IP is owned by MS? Also, does MS hold the IP for Gears too?

Anyways I didn't say they couldn't have a game, I actually said they could but it's a little bit more difficult than Sony if we just consider first party characters, just like it's more difficult for Sony when compared to Nintendo.

Nintendo First Party* > Sony First Party* > Microsoft First Party*

*amount of characters

While they don't have those one or two HUGE character like Mario and Pikachu, I think their strengths are in the entire cast, as instead of having a couple of super blockbuster franchises, they've got a large array of pretty well known franchises. And hopefully if the game is successful, it could even help boost the profile of the lesser known characters (something I don't really think Nintendo has done, especially when taking into account Lucas' appearance in Brawl).

The thing that's always made me stumble when thinking of a Sony Smash Bros game though, is that they've got a lot more human characters than Nintendo, so it'd be somewhat more difficult to differentiate the Gabe's from the Drake's. But who knows, it should be pretty interesting.
