New PS3 Exclusive Revealed Next Week On GTTV (Superbot's PS All-Stars)

Hah, I remember my brother telling me about some sony fighting game from a company called Superbot like 7 months ago. I forget how he knew about it, but he's worked as a line producer on a couple games, so probably from that. I hadn't heard of the company before, and I hadn't heard any rumors, so I just brushed it off.

Man, go figure.

So if the game had over 20 characters would you guys be satisfied?

Confirmed from Survey:
Nathan Drake
Kratos
Ratchet&Clank
Parappa
Sweet Tooth*leaked by dev*

Rumor characters from leaked source:
Sly Cooper
Colonel Mael Radec
Fat Princess
Sackboy
Jak & Daxter
Nariko
James Bond

That may leave 8 or more characters be announced.

other than James Bond, I'm okay with that list. I'm pretty content that old or unknown character like Tomba or Dart probably will never made it. this is Sony's first effort anyway, they need the all the recognizable character they have first to sell the game and build a fanbase of this new series first before they start expanding their older forgotten series. if the game sells good, I bet the sequel we'll get a lot more obscure character rfom Sony.

Exactly, build a solid foundation for a franchise with this entry and grow from there. This one doesn't need to be the best and only of it's kind for Sony. As I've said before, now is as good a time as any for Sony to make this kind of game and personally I can't wait! :D

James Bond sticks out like a sore thumb. It would be a ridiculous choice.

I hope SuperBot are large fans of the old sony franchises. They got more varied, iconic and stylish characters.

The less 3rd party characters the better, but I know that wont happen. I can imagine Lightning from FF or Snake being DLC already. I bet Sony will want to milk it good.

Main character from Alundra or the main character from Arc the lad would be a neat choice.

Why does Bond stick out? I mean, would he be any worse than Nathan Drake in appearance (And I assume fairly similar move set as well)

Not sure what so bad about James Bond, I think Sweetooth or Kratos stick out more, but that doe snot matter at all.

I got a feeling this game is going to be awesome.

He will use gadgets most likely if he is in.

Well that's what I meant, close up hand to hand.
Further away guns and gadgets. I mean instead of like grenades or something he'll have like a laser watch or something.

And honestly, he helps the game appeal to more folks than Sony fans

I think both suffer from the same problem: no appeal. Twisted Metal is just as passé as everything else Sony has to offer (with the exception of Nathan Drake, maybe). Sackboy, Jax, Crash and Ratchet are no Mario, Link or even Waluigi.

Smash Bros' strength, to me, is because Nintendo revisit their core characters every generation, meaning that new players will always be familiar with the roster. Sony, for whatever reason, leaves franchises behind as new hardware emerges. I hope they don't continue to do so - and, saying that, a "Sony smash bros" could be excellent , there's a lot of diversity, especially including potential third party characters - Sora/Lightning/Snake etc

So, you can choose between a car, Drake, Sackboy, the ever suave dude from infamous, Rico, a Microphone and Jason?
Can't wait.
*yawn*
Yep, let's forget the million sellers from last gen....
Awesome annoying posts, dude!
You don't like "PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale"? We get it!
What are you doing here then? Shitting on everone's party?

It's not so much appearance that makes him stick out, but that he's mainly a movie character, secondary a literary character, and thirdly a video game character, and as a video game character he's mainly known due to GoldenEye on N64. I'd rather have another third party character like Cloud or Sephiroth or Heihachi than James Bond tbh.

GT, GOW and Uncharted will be revisited for as long as Sony is in gaming biz.

Besides Sony is revisiting SLY after 5 years. I like that.

He has minimal relation to Sony, aside from appearing in games on Sony platforms. It would be an odd choice making him a part of the main rooster/cast. Besides Sony has their own James Bond personifications like Drake and Gabe Logan. They wouldn't need another from a third party.

EDIT: I hope Zeus will be a in the rooster since he is a good counterpart to Kratos, and therefore a logical choice.

Could also be said that the recent range of HD Classics could be part of reintroducing characters.

I'm thinking Sly, Jak & Daxter and ICO collections mainly.

I'm saying generally speaking - but you're right - I hope Sony does continue to use the franchises from this generation. Having a potential Uncharted/Killzone launch for PS4 would be nice.

Yeahhhhhh, if the announcement is this battle royale thing, ZzZZZzZZZZ. I could think of many other things that would be much more exciting to play on my PS3 then an obvious rip off of super smash bros. In my opinion, outside of SSB and maybe one other franchise, the fighting genre is dead and i don't think Sony got the memo.

So you already played the game?
Tell us more!

I actually think that you're the one that didn't get the memo if you think that there are only two popular fighting game franchises right now.

Well, I have honestly no idea who Waluigi is.All the others had games named after them at least.

Never said that i played it, i just stated my opinion that one, this battle royale game is Sony ripping off SSB and that Sony could have spent resources on something better than a dead genre.

Ok. But you're just making assumptions. It's not like we have seen footage or something. And just because a "genre" is dead, it doesn't mean that a particular game can't be great.

Who cares if the genre is dead or alive?! That in no way reflects the quality of the product itself.

To all the folks outright dismissing this game before even seeing a shred of gameplay, it has been demonstrated through numerous fan made lists that Sony does have the history of characters needed to justify Battle Royale. The hype surrounding the Michael promo when it came out cemented the fact that there is a market for this type of game. And lastly, this isn't going to be some half-baked rush-job out to earn a quick dollar when the development team consists of ex-members of Naughty Dog and SSM, and the producer of God of War is leading the project.

I mean come on. Give it a fighting chance at least.

The reason sony abandoned many older IPs is because they are not viable any more or in case of Crash and Spyro those Ips belong to someone else.

Let's take ND as an example. Crash belongs to Universal if I am not mistaken. So when Sony acquired ND they had to start on a new IP. They made Jak. First Jak sold 5 million, the other 3 games sold less and less, way less. It was time to try something more mature and Uncharted was born. The thing with Uncharted is that there is really no end. They can make 50 adventures, or reboot if they want once new tech is around 20 years from now. Will Sony revisit Jak? I am sure they will. Maybe they are waiting for the right dev. Just like Sanzaru seems to get it with Sly (based on vids- although I am sure SPunch has some role). I am glad they made second studio within the studio so that they don't stuck on one IP. Which I personally hate.

I didn't like Yoshida in the beginning, still not sure tbh. But I guess it will take a few years to know for sure. Once new games start hitting Vita, and new IPs PS4. His biggest mistake was not supporting Demon Souls in the west.

Personally I am not excited for this game, that might chance once I see it. However I would never question the quality of a team that is made of former Naughty Dog & Sony Santa Monica guys. On top of that game is for sure being co developed with SSM.

Crash and Spyro were both owned by Universal Interactive, which was bought by Vivendi in the early 2000s, before Vivendi merged with Activision.

I don't think anyone who has complained about this game has said it will be a half-baked rush job. I just don't understand why Sony has to copy Nintendo again and again when they could forge their own path here. Sure this game will probably add it's own unique touches but in essence it is SSB on a playstation console. And yes, Sony has characters to pull this off but they are not memorable, iconic characters like in SSB. Need i remind you that a lot of those characters in the youtube vid you posted don't even belong to Sony, right?

They take a tried and tested concept that appeals to everyone and adapt it for the PlayStation fans. How is this wrong? True, Sony doesn't have any iconic characters like Mario or Link, and I don't think this game will be a massive hit, but a mix of first-party and third-party characters should bring something for everyone.

But surely Sony has to use this game to take the first steps in at least attempting to make them memorable and iconic by bringing them to an expanded audience.

As many have pointed out, Sony seem to abandon their characters/franchises across generations give or take a few exceptions. This type of game, like Smash Bros, is what should keep these characters going.

Nothing as iconic as Mario or Zelda sure, but there are still plenty of characters from million+ shifting franchises that can be in the game. Isn't that enough?

It's a mixture sure, but the characters with substantial speaking parts are all from Playstation exclusives. Nathan Drake, Cole, Snake circa MGS4, some goddess chick from God of War. Everyone else is background dressing for the most part. Point is, is that focus is still squarely placed on the Playstation brand and that particular video generated a lot of views.

Thanks for not saying i'm just a troll :P . And i have to yield to you on your point of perhaps Sony using this game to try to make them more memorable and or helping to sell thier individual games if this one does well, good point.

Nintendo has Mario. There. He's the only triumph card they have. And Pikachu to a certain degree. They sell games on their name alone.
Samus, Donkey Kong and Link are a nice addition to the rooster, but they're nowhere near Mario or Pikachu.

Sony on the other hand has Gran Turismo, and there it is. And to this kind of game it doesn't even apply.
Then, they have their AA characters. Kratos, Drake and Sackboy. Which will help to sell this game, those 3 together are the "Mario" of Sony side.
But after those, Sony has a lot of A and B tier characters that might cater to a certain audience. You have Demon's Souls characters, Twisted Metal, Syphon Filter, Ratchet, Jak, Sly, Parappa, Echochrome, etc etc.
And those A and B tier characters of Sony are way more known than what Ice Climbers were before Melee, or Ness and Captain Falcon were before N64 Smash.

You want more? Third parties would want to put their stars in the game because they know that in this game they won't be overshadowed by Nintendo stars.

Well, for the record i'm not saying it is just some half baked idea or rushed. Look, if Sony can completely put their on spin on this game and seperate it from SSB and it's good, i will buy it. I'm not opposed to Sony having success, afterall, i did buy a Sony gaming machine in the PS3 for the first time ever as a gamer.
