For the said multiplatform game to not be a traditional fighter. I would rather play almost ANY standard game with good tablet implementation. Does everything they can, and everything they can't.
what would make the WiiU your go-to console for multiplatform games?
This will never happen for any console.
My answer: Go-to console? No such thing for me. Guard enough bases with one Nintendo console, the competitor console I want the most games on and a PC. Games games games.
For me the games just have to be released on it.
There is no chance in hell I'm buying an XBOX 3 after my experience with 360 and I'll probably not get the PS4 until the end of the generation when the price comes down.
So it's PC or Wii U for me, and most of the time that'll mean Wii U.
Without reading this thread, here's my prediction of how Wii-U has been defended so far:
ITT: Lots of "Specs/online plans aren't final!"
Nothing really. Their online won't be as good as PSN or Live and the controller looks crappy. But, my opinion doesn't mean anything as I wouldn't buy this system anyway(unless MGS is exclusive on it).
Nothing.
I dont like the first party line up nintendo brings to the table
The controller looks bulky and awkward
The online wont be up to par with XBL or PSN
Its likely going to have "gimmicks" added with "controller"
Honestly im more than happy with current gen system in terms of features if the Nextbox and PS4 deliver current gen consoles games with better graphics and the other enhancement to be expected for the next gen systems ill be perfectly happy.
We know this how?Nothing, because we all know that when PS4 and 720 gets released, most third party developer will once again shift most of their work to those platforms.
We know this how?
These were already confirmed by our very own resident insider member John harker.Clickable analogue sticks.
I think he means
360/PS3/WiiU -> PS4/720 with no WiiU if it can´t handle next gen games.
We can't know for sure as of now but I think it is safe to say it will be like that.
What would make me play Wii U for multiplats? Just having them on them will do. Basically until we know what the others are doing, Wii U is going to be the only really interesting machine with TONNES of possibilities given it's new features. It just needs to get all the multiplats and it will likely be my only machine next generation.
We know this how?
If an Xbox 360 can run a port of the witcher 2 the Wii U should have no problem running ports. The problem lies whether third parties want to make such a port. Nintendo has a good chance of that happening because the Wii U most likely will not lack features prevent it from getting ports like the wii and it'll have a much stronger user base than the either next gen consoles when they come around.

I think it's adorable that so many people are dismissing it with such little info.
the hell? There are lots of one console owners in this world, why would a WiiU-only future be laughable? I have plenty of friends with just a 360, nothing else.
that's the most urgent thing, that MS and Sony are going to deliver powerhouses and games on their next gen consoles won't be possible on WiiU, thus repeating this gen's scenario.

It happened this gen and it's the first time Nintendo released a console with such a difference in specs, compared to its competitors. So 1 out of 1 time we have seen this happening, meaning so far it's 100%. Is it 100% in reality? of course not but it's silly to think that "hardcore" gamers will drop support for stronger home consoles, since most people like eye-candy games. We will forever see the "man, I wonder what xenoblade would've looked like on PS3/360" (as an example) but for next gen games. Third party devs will go where people will buy. I could be wrong of course but I highly doubt anything will change in just two years.
The wii can easily play any PS3/360 game, obviously taking a hit on the graphics area, so I don't see why you use the example of Witcher 2. The wii has a larger install base and could technically play any PS3/360 game, so why don't devs make "hardcore" games for it? (I know there are some, but you know what I mean)
Wii's lack of ports were moreso due to lack of hardware features than whether the hardware was powerful or not. Wii U won't have the same problem. Like I've stated before, as long as the Wii U has modern gpu architecture (which it does)and publishers are willing to put the games on the platform (which they should since wii u will likely have a larger user base), there should be no worries about whether it gets ports or not. One of the biggest reasons that n64 and gcn didn't get ports was because of a feature (namely cartridges and mini discs) for the wii it was because of the console using 2001 gpu architecture.
You seem to be so biased that you can't even answer the question correctly. this is not a what don't you like about the Wii U and the online service that hasn't even been detailed yet. The thread is about what you'd like to see that would incline you to purchase third party products on the system. If you can't find anything then why even post?
A video game console doesn't need defending, though asinine comments that don't add anything to the discussion such as this one need not be posted at all.

That's why the question posed is what would you like to see in the console.Conversely, from what we know so far I can't see why anyone would realistically assume that Wii-U will be the ultimate "go-to" console for multiplatform titles right now.
What did you expect people to say? Buying the thing on blind faith and ignore everything else?

This thread can only end in tears. All everyone wants is more of the same with prettier graphics. Nintendo will not be providing just that, so it's over before it started in that regard.

What do you mean?? Wii U will be powerful. I'm sure of it.
Nothing.

Yeah, until the next xbox and playstation is released, one year after :\
I answered the question, Honestly for the WiiU to get any attention from me it needs to be out performing other systems which it plain is not going to do.
Im biased to what exactly? biased against inferior gaming experiences?
Sorry i dont have blind faith in nintendo but they certainly havnt proved themselves for me in the last 2 generations and nothing iv read about the WiiU gives me any faith.
But why would people choose the Wii-U as their "go-to console for multiplatform games" if it's just getting mediocre portjobs of the real games from the other consoles?
The only reason I could think of is unique play style methods (i.e. the wii remote or u pad).
