Yeah. It's never been the safest city at night, but now it's just ridiculous.

You can tell how bad it is from the amount of apartment buildings that have installed a security entrance gate recently, with cameras and whatnot.
Damn, whereabouts in Rio you at? I'm in Centro, and noticed things are a little bit frisky lately...

I'm from The Åland Islands, a group of islands in the middle of Sweden and Finland. We belong to Finland but we speak Swedish. Not much to do here... It's crammed with tourists at the moment and it's starting to get hot as hell.

From South Central LA. It cool there, not as violent as tv/movies make it seem. The neighborhood seems to be advancing quite nicely though with the new shopping centers and whatnot.

Upper Sandusky, Ohio. It's a small town (about 6,000 people) that is about 50 miles south-east of the Sandusky some of you might be familiar with.

Edit- I forgot to answer the second part of the question.

It's nice here I guess. To me the Summers seem pretty hot but they're a lot more mild than many of the summers elsewhere in the US.

Like 25°C ? ;-)
I'll have you know that we had degrees up to 27°C yesterday...! So...shutup :(

My point was that there's always cold here and now all of a sudden the weather's hot. We susually have about 30°C in the summer...

Querétaro, Querétaro, México. It's a beatiful and big city (about 1.5 million people) which is 200 km north of México City. I'd dare say it is the best place in Mexico to live in although sometimes there's not much to do. However, you won't find a safer and cleaner place in the whole country. Unfortunately, over the last 10 years, a lot of people from Mexico City have been moved into the city, so the population has been growing exponentially, and thus, the crime rate's rised.

Wellington, New Zealand. It's OK, nice-sized city but awful weather and way too many hills. The public transport system is also pretty lame. I would like to be somewhere else, but then everyone does, don't they?

I'm from Costa Rica. Hopefuly this aren't to big.

It's hot and green.

Tempe (Phoenix), I dig it. Sure it's hot but it's a pretty neat town. Being a university town with more people who work here than live here it has something for everyone.

Well I'm glad someone else shares my sentiments about Melbourne. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I'm from Melbourne too but living in Japan now. Melbourne is cool but I really really love Japan. There is something special about the place. As a foreigner, the old adage about being in a crowd yet feeling alone rings true. And I love it. Japan can be as hectic or as peaceful as you wish. I for one could see my self here for a very long time. My wife says otherwise:lol

That said, Melbourne is a very nice place to live and anybody planning to vist Australia should put it on the itinery. Forget the Gold Coast and Cairns, a beach is a beach, see Melbourne instead. Temjin, I share your pain of the suburbs. Being a home owner in Noble Park is not a pleasant as it could be. Is cheap though:)

Always wanted to go to japan. Maybe after I graduate.
Orginally from new jersey, I now reside in north carolina.
It has its good and bad days.

born and raised in san francisco, ca. been living there for 20 years and i love it. not really a huge city but its culture, influence and diversity makes the city worthwhile to live in. great food, shopping isnt bad, lots of gays and homelesses, and awesome public transit. i hate fog though

I live in a small town called Honeoye Falls, about 30 mins south of Rochester, NY. It is a very small white community hehe. I have to drive 20 mins north to my job, just to find any diversity at all. I like it though. I will be leaving for college next year and will probably miss it. There is a strong bond between every one in a town that is very uncommon in other places

From Muskegon MI, which I have fond memories of despite the fact that it is a total hole.

Unemployment still in the high teens, I believe, and was over 20% when I was growing up. I blame a lot of my formerly bleak output on life on that place.

It's small enough to have little of interest, and big and poor enough to have slums and crime.

The area surrounding is beautiful, though. It's on Lake Michigan, and is far enough from any big city as to not be crowded.

Now, Chicago. I love it. People complaing about ot having anyting to do in their town do not live in Chicago. Chicago in Summertime is full of festivals and outdoor concerts, baseball games, and stuff.

Western Norway.. now residing in Bergen.

It's a bit rainy, but one of the most beautiful cities I've been in. When the weather is good. Otherwise a great city.

Oklahoma City, OK

Hotter than hell, and it's gigantic. The city itself covers a huge area, although the population isn't too high. There are more things to do than ever, though. Bricktown is becoming a nice little district, and the Hornets' arrival has had a huge impact on morale. We're finally a Pro Sports Town/State (TM)!!!

Still, I plan on moving.

Long Island, New York. Where the girls are shallow bitches working on their fake tans and the guys use 'roids while working on their 21" rims and body kits.

I'm generalizing but you get the idea.

Also Wellington, or more precisely Paraparaumu, but that place is a shit dump that is nearly a suburb of wellington, Wellington is an awesome laid back city where the weather sucks and the public transport does as well, other than that, it's cool!

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Great weather
(if you like high temperatures)
, lots of stuff to do, but lately it's been getting more and more dangerous to go out at night. :(
OMG a fellow Carioca! :)
I feel your pain, had my 2 month old car stolen from me at gunpoint... just great.

:lol

So, so true.

Mine's a little complicated. I was born in Toronto, Canada. By age 2 I had "lived" in Michigan, Chicago, New York, and Greece.

Then we went to Florida. Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Loved it. I'd hate it now, but it's a great place to be a kid.

Then, right after finishing Elementary school, we moved up here to Astoria, NY. Been here ever since. Consider myself a NYer, through and through. The general population, as noted above, ain't great, but that's fine since most people in general suck. It's close to tons of stuff, and right on the river so the city's a stone's throw away.

Long Island. Girls are pretty much the definition of bitches.

...which is why I found myself a nice honest Queens girl :)

But yeah, born, raised, still live and work on Long Island. Gotta say, the taxes suck, but between NYC and the Hamptons, there's always something goin on.

Malls and beaches for everyone!

ive been to lots of places, i born in Hong Kong, it was crowd everywhere
and Halifax, it was very quiet and peaceful
now Toronto, people in here are very rude :lol

In Northwest Houston born and raised
On the playground where I spent most of my days
Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool
And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of gals said were up in no good
Started making trouble in my livejournal hood.
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
And said youre moving with your aunte and uncle in bel-air

Why don't you all come down to Tampa, where 95% of the women here make Chewbacca look like ****ing Jessica Alba. The other 5% are all lying bitches that would not hesitate to rip your heart out and eat it right in front of you.

London, Kentucky.

It's basically a less-smelly shithole in the middle of a lot of really smelly ones.

The highlight of our town is a Wal-Mart, and believe me, you can sample the people that make up our culture by hanging out at GameStop for two hours.

While we all aren't hicks (god knows that I used to argue we weren't) we are MOSTLY hicks as I have found out through working here.

And we are the meth and pot capital of KY.

I'm moving to Berea for college in a month and a half... it's a county down from Lexington, a pretty big city with some malls and shit. I can't wait.

Memphis, TN

It's hot and humid, the city is run by morons, the school system is horrid.
But I guess it isn't that bad, we have the Grizzlies, Beale St., good food for the most part and Elvis I suppose.

worldrunover and Jim - where do you guys live? I'm in Nesconset, went to Smithtown HS.

Born and raised in the Boogie Down Bronx. Currently with my wife and kids in Woodside, Queens. Can't stand (my area of) Queens--shitty drivers, rude people. That and the retarded street layouts: 69th Place, Road, Drive, Craphole. WTF.

same here. although it is annoying to see how much the old neighborhood has changed, i still live in a relatively nice area.

i did live in kaizer, ore with my grandparents for a year. its a town on the border of salem. its seriously ****ing sad to see how much that area has degraded to a bunch of upper class white kids pretending as though they are from the "streets". i laugh, but i seriously wouldnt mind throwing most of them in front of a nearby speeding train
