Possible $400m before 3rd weekend. That is just crazy. Fastest to $450m is in the bag, probably gonna be the fastest to $500m.
And in a couple of years, another movie will come out and break all the records that the Avengers set. Then a couple of years later the records will be broken again. etc..

Yeah, Avengers 2 will most likely have Black Panther regulating shit. Records will be broken. And in a couple of years, another movie will come out and break all the records that the Avengers set. Then a couple of years later the records will be broken again. etc..
Why would anyone be upset about Avengers breaking these records and wishing for other movie to soon "dethrone" it, as if out of spite?
Enjoy it, the movie is big and loud and fun and deserves success.
Holy hell, Avatar's third Friday was larger than its second Friday. Granted both were holidays (X-Mas and New Years) but that is crazy. That Avatar third weekend record is going to stand for quite a while I think.
Now, Variety is obviously a long running and trusted source, so I'm not really how they managed to come up with that. With a $29.1 million gross Friday, Disney's "The Avengers" is out adventuring for the soph sesh domestic B.O. record, but it may require a slightly stronger hold to beat it.Compared with last Friday, the actioner is performing 64% below its opening weekend. This is a reasonable drop for a B.O. buster like "Avengers," but if it persists through Sunday, pic will fall barely short of beating "Avatar's" second frame feat of $75.5 million. Still, the film has shown extraordinary traction thus far, particularly in mid-week sales, and may very well close the gap as Mother's Day weekend progresses
Hey guys, the record isn't a guarantee yet! According to Variety

There will be FOUR $400M films this year.
It's third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh weekend records aren't going anywhere for a LONG time.
Wow. They took the Friday-Friday drop and extrapolated it to the entire weekend. Because that's how the Box Office works. A round of applause for Variety, everyone.

The superhero team-up continued its record-breaking run with an estimated $29.1 million yesterday, which is the best second Friday ever ahead of The Dark Knight's $23.2 million. The movie's 64 percent drop from opening day seems steep, though it's a tad better than The Dark Knight, notably better than Iron Man 2, and about even with Thor. The Avengers set a new record with its $299.1 million total through eight days in theaters, and it will take the second weekend record with something close to $100 million for the three-day frame.
DM is hiding again. I'm in these threads to see his tears right now. I want him to admit defeat.
Had trouble reading it at first as well. It is the Avengers' lead over those three films day-to-day.
Why? Dark Knight Rises doesn't have 3D, its unreasonable to think it will topple day to day or weekend records. WW though...
With the weekend, the Avenger's is gaining on TDK again.

What's the 4th film? Hunger games, avengers and batman...
Avengers continues to wipe TDK from the record books...
It had 16 records prior to Avengers opening... It's down to 9 and when all is said and done it will be to 2 or maybe 3 records... (Non-Opening Monday,Tuesday, and ~maybe fastest to 450M if Avengers slows down, though that seems entirely unlikely).
Avengers already has 19 records (some are dubious as they come in clumps by starting as well as it did and 7 day gross is the same as opening week).

Sigh, not a fair comparison.
Doesn't take 3d tax, inflation, etc into account.
How should I read this graph? Cause Titanic never had a huge opening and not sure why its leading Avengers. With the weekend, the Avenger's is gaining on TDK again.

Why are you so upset over Avengers toppling TDK?

I really don't see Avengers getting knocked off the top spot anytime soon. Number 1 for five weeks? More likely than you think.

Yeh that damn Snow White movie just might get some attention, but its likely you're right.
And LOL MIB? How do you think that sounds when someone asks for a second/third go around for Avengers or MIB? You'll get laughed at!

Btw, Dark Shadows budget is 100M. Not sure where the 150M inflated number came from.Probably Nikki's sources

Their budget numbers arent always accurate. The info are from BOM.
Beside the Avengers 2, what movie do you think can do that? The record it set isn't just by a couple millions. It beat HP7.5 by $38m, gonna beat 2nd weekend by $20+m.
Sigh, not a fair comparison.
