Britney Spears is fine, but I'm not sure I totally get Demi Lovato as a "judge." I guess she's more "relevant" than Scherzinger was? I don't know. Scherzinger was pretty damn hot though, even if she provided the same intellectual contribution as a lamp post.

Scherzinger was an emergency replacement for Cheryl Cole's terrible accent. From what I hear, Simon Cowell hated Scherzinger and thought she was a mistake, but couldn't do much about it till the end of the season.
However, I didn't really understand that, Simon had already worked with her in the UK X Factor, so I wonder what changed.

X Factor's issue wasnt the awful singers as judges. It was the show itself. People will tune in for Simon alone regardless of a crappy singer like Britney. If they dont alter the show, it's going to bomb again.

If having been 13+ years in the game, establishing yourself as Pop Royalty/LivingLegend/Icon/Princess&QueenofPop at the beginning of your career, selling 100+ million records , being the Best Selling Pop Artist of the decade, having 6 #1 albums and having a Grammy, then while on BREAK from music to sign on to a Reality Show only to be paid 15 million dollars and being the highest paid reality show judge on television is a sign of a career ending I think I'd be ok with that
