• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Halo 4 Limited Edition announced.

Also, it mentions weapon skins...? This is the first I've heard about that. I hope they don't get too goofy with those.

Cheapskate! :P

Kidding.
Naw, I just don't like buying junk. This LE has things I'll actually appreciate / use.

If it's €100 here, then no, I'll pass. What I've seen so far hasn't inspired me enough to get this.

It's £70 RRP so probably 90 Euros?

Also, it seems Arcade owners are boned again for multiplayer.

**Minimum 8GB USB Flash Drive or Xbox 360 Hard Drive required for Multiplayer. For optimal experience in Campaign mode, play with Xbox 360 Hard Drive. (For Xbox 360 4 GB, Arcade and Core consoles, Xbox 360 Hard Drive sold separately). See http://xbox.com/halo/harddrive for specifications.

Getting, no question about it, I'm getting the LE. Missed out on the Legendary editions of reach and halo 3 due to lack of funds, so I'm getting this.

At work. Will have to wait 5+ hours. :(
Bummer. I'm sure there will still be some available in 5+ hours, though. :-P I'm moving to a different neighborhood soon, but I'm not sure where, so I'm going to wait to pre-order till I know what store I'll be living most closely to.

Good call for them to only have one type of limited edition, although that was probably primarily motivated by the fact that the Halo: Reach legendary edition bombed and got tons of negative feedback from fans.

I might get this. The Halo Reach LE was all types of awesome. That diary made me appreciate the Halo story a lot more. Made me want to read the books.

I spent a small fortune on Reach (Console + Legendary) and was done with the game after 2 weeks. Lesson learned. Fuck you Armor Lock! Regular Edition plz.
If I'm still playing H4LO years down the line I'll get one on eBay like I did with Halo 3.
It does look nice though.

Yeah it's like getting a season pass, but with a shit ton of other goodies on top of it.

I wish more companies would do this, or have an option for this. I'm not buying most special editions so I have some art books and ugly statues taking up space in my room. Give me access to things I can use in game, especially map packs that I would probably buy anyway, that's how you get my attention.

Exactly. I understand people who don't want "digital crap", but I'd much rather have map packs than cat helmets.

Map packs that should be free for everyone, you mean. But keeping a good MP community isn't as much of an issue when the new hotness is only 2 years away, max.

This fight has already been lost, hasn't it? At least a few companies still keep the old gods.

seems like they are just having a Season Pass as the main selling point to the LE, and charging you $100 to compensate.

Miss the old days of Halo 2 map packs that eventually became free.

Guess those days are long gone in the video game industry.

I like that they brought it back old school with the case Halo 2-style plus there only being the regular and limited edition.

Better yet, they include future maps off the bat so no worries about spending for those later on too - people bitched about the usefulness of LE bonuses, well there you go.

Now I'm beginning to feel more hyped to see Halo 4 at E3, moreso that I'm only sticking to Halo & Gears for my shooter fix.

I wonder what the pre-order bonus will be, if any.

Standard edition box looks hot too:

Looks like it'll be worth it, but I'm still on the fence about whether I'd want to pay a 100 bones for a Halo game or not.

A season pass plus a bunch of other stuff. I dunno, this is all subjective, but it seems like a good package to me.

Yeah, me too. I think all but one of Halo 3's map packs are free now, but they've been out for years, so that's not saying much.

hope the inclusion of DLC map apcks means that more people will have them this time around and we'll be more likely to see them in matchmaking.

also, weapon skins. don't much care about those, but they seem to be all the rage these days.

So, basically, $40 for a map pack? All that other stuff is already in the game ("specializations") or will end up on YouTube within a few days.

• Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Special Edition

The Special Edition of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is a 90-minute extended version of the live-action digital series which will take fans back to the terrifying beginning of the Human/Covenant war, when the Master Chief inspired a young cadet who would eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC’s greatest vessel ever: the UNSC Infinity.

Digital content also includes in-fiction bonus content that expands the characters and stories of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, special featurette Bringing Gaming into Reality, and a behind the scenes look at the making of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.

That almost sounds like a full feature length film.

This is pretty dissapointing, actually. I've purchased the Halo 3 and Reach Legendaries, but an extra 50 for digital goods isn't really exciting me.

No Legendary Edition?

God damn it, I wanted another statue or something.

If you have hankering to drop even more on a single game, there is a super high profile game with ultimate edition clocking in @ $200 for this holiday. That's all yours.
