Easiest way is to just add their DPS, increase it by 15%, and then halve it. DW just alternates attacking with the two so it's not really an actual damage increase without the 15% Attack Speed increase (and extra stats on the off-hand).

If you have a lot of +Damage on your Armor, Rings, and Amulet then it may be slightly different but that's complicating matters.

But what about +STR modifiers to weapons if I'm a Barb? I don't think the DPS on the weapon factors that in. Will the detail on my character sheet have a final total DPS I can compare if I equip both options?

There is no build planning though. It's find your items. There are no builds. That's the problem. buy an account with 5 60's, one for each class and then kill for loot. It's all the same up to that point.
Praise Jesus! I understand how Diablo 2 is a sacred cow around here but I am so glad that we've seen the last of those miserable design decisions. D3 is so refreshing in comparison.

Like I said, the easiest way, not the most accurate. The game does show you all this, however, so it's not like you actually need to do any of the math yourself. But, yes, STR is not factored into your Weapon tooltip DPS but it will be factored into your character sheet DPS.

There's a reason why I said design. I'd rather play around with my skill loadout at the end-game rather than design it from the start and play to max to see if I like it or if it works out as intended.

Mouse cursor :p The big gray pointing arrow :p

Instead of having nice and precise control over the cursor, it was randomly giving out, or being terribly unresponsive, nearly causing death multiple times.

Latency last night was up and down, so I mostly blamed it on that, but given that it's just the cursor, I guess it seems odd to have cursor lag tied directly to network lag =/

I did just put in brand new batteries in my mouse, so I can't imagine it's that, but i'll be changing them tonight I guess... which makes me realize maybe I'll end up getting a wired mouse just for Diablo 3. lol

It it's the cursor actually moving it's on your end. I wanted to make sure you weren't talking about it responding to clicks such as you click to move and it hesitates to move, that would be network problems but just moving the cursor and nothing else would be something local if it's choppy.

Okay, cool. That's what I wanted to know. That character sheet DPS is final all-inclusive measure of which weapon(s) to use. Thanks.

No way. I love it. For 2 months, then move on. I'm only talking replay-ability here. Not the game playing itself :) I'm counting down the 2 hours until I can go home and play!

Well, if you use replay as going from start to finish then, sure, I'll agree with you on that regard :x

The only way to describe this game is:

I am FIENDING over here at work and I'm only level 13, still in Act 1.

Wait, are the recipes you get when training at the blacksmith random? So it's random that you get to craft a rare item?

That's what I'm trying to figure out.

I have 4 rare recipes... it seems odd they'd be for stuff I'd never use (I'm a demon hunter... why would you give me rare wand crafting).

So I'm guessing what recipes you get rare is random....

I figured if other people posted what rares they can craft and their level we can figure this out.

Yeah, but I mean last night the entire game was fairly choppy due to inconsistent latency and crazy ping that got up to 800ms at times and was never stable. If it still continues when things are smooth (tonight... I hope..) then I'll have to investigate further.

I'm pretty sure they are, atleast the rare crafts. Because I realized that in between beta wipes my blacksmith had different rare items to craft. I don't remember hearing any official word from blizzard on this mechanic, I thought they had spilled all the mechanical beans on this game.

Is the starter edition not working yet? I really want to try the game but I'm getting an error when I try to login...

Ok Barb super noob question... So the abilities that generate fury (leap, cleave, etc). Do you need to actually hit something to generate it?

I just noticed that I wasn't generating any while just leaping around or stomping the ground... Took me 15 levels to realize that lol. I was trying the sprint ability when I got it and wasn't able to generate fury out of combat to try it out.

No its not. It fixes the number one problem of spellcaster itemization and gives spellcasters more options.

On the "my wizard is using a 2h axe" thing, why don't they just do what they do with armor? ie) if you're on a WD the weapon appears like a fetish, dagger, scepter, etc. but if you put it in your bank and equip it on your barb it's suddenly now a 1h axe, 1h sword, mace, etc.?

"Why is my Bow a shrunken head?"

:x

It is pretty funny though. They've clearly tried to make the game more newbie-friendly in a variety of ways but the goofy things they did with things like weapon damage are probably just going to confuse people more than not. :P

Stuff like weapon damage feeding directly into spell damage - and without you ever using that weapon at all - is incredibly counter-intuitive even for people who have been playing RPGs for a long time.

That is....strange....so are there wands with high damage output? Or staves?

Ya, but as far as I understand it shouldn't be sending data of where your cursor is since the game really doesn't care. It only matters when you click and enemy or click to move that data is sent so it should be a local problem since even network problems don't slow your cursor, just the actions caused by your cursor. I was at like over 400 ping and my cursor was smooth my guy just never moved/attacked when I clicked.

I've played two hours so far using a demon hunter on a trial account and I am completely sold on it. I guess I will pick it up tomorrow before work or buy it digitally if it's sold out. It's so much fun.

Fuck people keep asking me to do social stuff, have to go cinemas today, and supposed to go out drinking friday night as well. I promise myself to not let Diablo effect my social liefe so I will do those things but soon as I get home straight on top that Diablo.

Played for another quick hit before work just to see if the game was back up and such.

Man 2 things I posted about earlier really hit home logging in a 2nd time

1) I realllllyyyy love this setting. The whole fantasy meets neo gothic revival meets idk legend of sleepy hollow just really is a cool setting to me. I also like that Act 1 overworld tries to be more eerie rather than straight blood and guts horror. I just really like this, and I personally haven't played many games in this setting over the past few years.

2) I need to work on my Gamma settings both in and out of game as well as my comp monitor settings. Game screens while not perfect never really bothered me THAT much prerelease. Sure I liked that one concept art screen of the sort of run down Church from an outside perspective a tad more, but I feel the in game graphics still look really close.

My only problem is man the game looks washed out, and I think it looks even more washed out on my machine that it's suppose to even doing 2 secs of in game gamma changes this morning. I'll work on it more tonight. It's not even the bloom like I usually hate like in Oblivion or WoW (which I try and toggle off) because the light sources aren't doing it. It's just the game contrast in general.

I'll post back tonight with some results after I fiddle with everything.

Ya, I hated it though at first. I have been going super slow because my WD was "weak" since I had no weapon anymore because he wasn't doing physical attacks and now that I have a weapon equipped I'm just destroying everything. I wish it would have been more clear especially with two handed shields you pick up early on...

Yes. They're just like any other weapon, except they're Wizard only have some Wizard-only bonuses. Essentially, any weapon can be a potential upgrade; Wands will just have better Wizard-tailored bonuses.
