Halo 4 Limited Edition announced.

Will buy. Looks awesome. Usually I'm a fence sitter on DLC and wind up not purchasing it at all. This way, I'll just have it already set and won't even have to think about it.

I'd prefer if they had a limited edition with more dev diaries/artwork/music and no season pass included. I'd rather have the season pass separate. If the multiplayer is something I totally hate then I'm locked into having all this DLC for a game I don't like. I'm a big fan of the lore so I'll buy the LE still but I'll sell my DLC code if the multiplayer does suck.

The day 1 perks seems really unfair for the people buying normal editions even if they are unlockable.

So, basically, $40 for a map pack? All that other stuff is already in the game ("specializations") or will end up on YouTube within a few days.

Well, $40 for three map packs (worth $30 together), in-game stuff, stuff that'll end up on Youtube AND an incredibly sexy case.

Nope, sorry (at least the screens aren't).

Edit: the standard edition US box looks badly coloured there, like someone turned up the saturation levels.

It looks better here in the UK version:

NO Legendary? WHAT IS THIS SHIT?

lol @ people saying "cool. map packs and stuff that will be on youtube." Everything is on youtube. With that logic there's no point in buying any video game since you can just watch one of the many "Lets Play" series that people do.

You can't interact with the game on YouTube in the same way you could on your own Xbox. However, you can with the "limited" video content if it's posted on YouTube since watching it on YT is no different from watching it on your Xbox.

Stuff I like:

  • Just one LE. I'm glad they focused on just one additional package, not the tiered editions of Halo 3 and Reach.
  • The price. Halo 3 and especially Reach really pushed the price on the Legendary edition. $100 is more reasonable as an upper bound.
  • The map pack inclusion. Assuming the three map packs are $10, as has been standard for Halo map packs for a while, that's $30 right there. Basically a season pass model.
  • The packaging. Looks very nice - is that a steel book?
  • Briefing packet; sounds neat.

Stuff I'm disappointed in:

  • Lack of behind the scenes documentary. Really a big miss, I loved the Halo 2 doc and have been hoping for something like it on subsequent Halo releases. Alas.
  • Apparently all the bonus materials are digital; I really wanted a DVD bonus disc.
  • All this crap: "unique in-game Spartan-IV armor skin, unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle, an exclusive in-game emblem, Xbox LIVE Avatar prop, and Xbox LIVE Avatar Spartan IV armor set." I don't value any of that stuff, at all. It's fluff to add "value" to the package but it's really a bunch of nothing.
  • Early access to perks specializations. Bad, bad form here.

Will buy.

Steelbooks cases... My only weakness... What to do, what to do...

I got the Limited Edition of Reach for about 20€ back in the day, I wish I could do the same with this one...

ARGH. I need that steelbook...

I agree with all these points. I miss the behind the scenes stuff too, but I guess we have already got two vid docs, with more to surely come. Not quite the same as the Halo 2 doc though.

hmm....very tempted to pre-order this since Halo 4 is probably the last new game I buy this year. (still have some backlog games to clear out)

Is the $100 price confirmed? This inlcudes the first 3 map packs, right?

I want a png or an eps of that UNSC logo right now. I love it. That box is gorgeous.

The contents...I have mixed feelings...

Will buy for future access to DLC map packs. Good form there, 343.

The Halo 3 cat helmet is languishing in its box in some forgotten corner of the house, and the Reach limited edition, while nicely produced, has remained boxed-up since launch night. I'm not too invested in Halo lore so the diary wasn't of much use, outside of admiring the production values that went into it.

$30 of DLC right out of the box is a more worthwhile bonus for me, and that case might finally top Halo 2's limited edition in terms of sexiness.

The inclusion of future map packs almost makes this worth the asking price.

However, whatever happened to making of/behind the scenes videos that developers used to include in these LE packages?! The Dark Edition for the Witcher 2 was the first LE game I've purchased in a long time because I don't care for all the useless crap that's usually included. I think Halo 3 was the last one before that and at least we got a behind the scenes video with that package.

Hmmm I was looking forward to buying my first Legendary Halo but whatever, this limited edition is fuckin sick. No brainer, 100% getting it. The maps and the FUD dvd alone make it worth the money. High five!

cant wait to see that film. if it has the same style as the other tv-spots, just longer and a bit more budget, i am happy.
They're going to be releasing it in 15 minute segments anyways on YouTube in the weeks preceding the release of Halo 4. The one in the LE is just extended I believe. So you won't have to wait that long.

Seeing as they're putting out a full art book on release I don't mind missing out on the typical "hardcover art pamphlet" that we usually get in LEs.

Hopefully the "making of" feature is as good as the previous Bungie ones, I really enjoyed watching them again when they reposted the videos to youtube.

100€? Hmm. *shrugs* I guess i'll buy it, i'm not planning to buy anything else this year (other than DLC for ME3/Skyrim/BF3 that is).

I don't get why one of the things is a "special AR skin" the AR is a piece of trash that should have died with Halo 3/Reach.

Gimme dat special BR/DMR!

I'd much rather have downloadable DLC down the line that I was going to buy anyone; and let's be honest, as someone who bought the Halo 3 Legendary and the Reach Limited, the little special things are completely pointless. The statue was pointless. Halsey's journal was pointless. At least we can play all this DLC.

And that case is so slick.

None of the bonuses sound all that exciting. I was hoping for a really appealing collectible that looks cool and/or expands the backstory, like Halsey's journal. Something Cortana-oriented, maybe.
