As mentioned in the starting post, Deep Silver is apparently hard at work developing several Wii U titles. While you can probably guess that many of these titles are ports, I noticed one thing about Techland (developer of Dead Island) from some kind of investment paper:

Since Ubisoft now owns the Call of Juarez trademark, it's not gonna be that. So either Dead Island, Naild, Xpand Rally (Xtreme) or some completely new IP, but I doubt it. Seeing as Dead Island has sold very well, they could simply pull out a pack featuring all of the DLC, add some basic function (maps for example) for the DRC and probably make some quick money. What the other titles from Deep Silver are I don't know, but now we have one developer narrowed down anyway.

Out of order execution means a larger die, which makes the chip more expensive, and due to the extra heat produced the clock speeds will be lower than an equivalent in-order chip.
Not bad then. If they indeed are using this, I was afraid the downside implied harder programming or some basic design incompatibilities that hindered multiplatform development.
Then I guess Nintendo won't use it. Bigger/hotter is completely out of the question given their target size, wattage, price and design philosophy.

I don't think they wait a year. I think Q1 or Q2 2013, Wii U gets a late port with some minor tweaks to use the subscreen like inventory, map, etc.
That way Capcom can still release the Gold edition later in the year and double dip on Wii U owners too!

I agree with you Tom. I think Nintendo will go for it with their launch. They have openly talked about how not having good exclusive games at the 3DS launch hurt them, and Miyamoto came out and owned the Vita for not having software, they won't then after all that expect CoD, and AC3 to carry a new Nintendo consoles launch. They have a head-start on building an install-base, they will try and take advantage of it with attractive first-party software, this launch is huge for them, and I think they know that.

It wouldn't surprise me if they host a second third party round table again, as well. Maybe with UBI again, or even EA or Activision.
I think it's be great if they did a true round table, with the heads of those publishers sitting down with Iwata or Reggie and talking about Wii U.

Nintendo weren't choosing between a OoO ~3.2Ghz 3-core chip and an in-order ~3.2Ghz 3-core chip, the choice was between what they have now (the OoO chip) and some hypothetical in-order chip with more cores and a higher clock speed which would have fit the same price/wattage criteria. They went with the out of order chip because, like with most of Nintendo's hardware design, they favour efficient real-world performance over raw power.
It would be funny if Wii U becomes Caccpoms console of choice. As in, Wii U gets demos first, exclusive local online co op, and additional DLC characters that the PS3/360 versions of their games don't get.

Which is exactly why playing the numbers game with the Wii U is kind of misleading.
The way Nintendo creates hardware is insanely efficient.
And the lower clock speed might help explain what's going on with those devs who told CVG that the CPU is weaker than Xenon. (Meaning that they may still be using code optimized for an in-order CPU.)
They're going to use it. The GC/Wii CPU is OoO, in fact. They're just going to use a much lower clockspeed than current consoles.
If it's not being worked on for launch, it's due to lack of resources. This means that it's unlikely that work will start on a Wii U version until the other versions go gold.

Yeah I'm really interested to see how the distribute all the information. I really hope it's a hype fest as I tend to think Nintendo need it and are generally a little bit staid (Apart from Zelda of course). Get the big name partners, preferably individuals like Rein/Cliffy or Gabe etc out there. Show/talk about the big games and engines coming. Show us cool shit about their online approach etc. Skip the charts and bullshit. In fact I wish they'd skip the 3DS even

Nintendo's E3 2006 media briefing saw 8.32 minutes of Nintendo DS footage/presentation. Nintendo's E3 2011 media briefing saw 30.99 minutes of Wii U footage/presentation, that's approximately 44.2 % of the briefing in comparison with approximately 87.3 % of Wii for 2006's presentation. Nintendo 3DS I believe could need a few big titles more publicly shown so I don't expect such a great portion of the media briefing this year for Wii U, but I think the focus on the new system will be great.

I usually tend to think that Nintendo over-emphasizes its portables to the detriment of their home systems, but the 3DS might need a tiny bit of stage time, if only to announce a few major titles and/or features. Not much though - there'll be plenty of time for the press to spend on the show floor for 3DS reporting, as the 3D features would be better-demonstrated there in person anyway.
With the Wii U, I think Nintendo needs to throw everything they've got into that presentation and the ensuing smaller events throughout the week. Make it a relentless flow of information, news, game announcements, feature surprises, etc. Dump so much information on the press to the point where they have trouble keeping-up, to the point where many of them don't find-out about all of the news events until they return home. Overwhelm them, I say!

I'm sure that Nintendo would have gotten more performance for Wii is they had used more modern tech instead of the GC's archaic tech. No way such old tech offered a good price-performance ratio.
And it doesn't matter. They're still putting themselves first and it's going to bite them in the ass. The CPU is what's going to cause Wii U to get very few next-gen ports.

I never had Cartoon Network, so I never watched any Toonami. What I did have however was Nickelodeon, I used to follow shows like Doug, Rocko's Modern Life and Rugrats to name a few. The fun thing was that the channel I had Nickelodeon on also featured The Playboy Channel starting 11 pm. So you could say I had some angry beavers on both channels. ¦¬°

I hate to crush everyone's dreams, but... Toonami only really worked during the age of dial up Internet. Back when everyone was exposed to DBZ for the first time. Today, I just don't see much of a point. Any anime that Toonami airs could probably be found on DVD, for a fair price (vs. $30 DBZ tapes that contained 3 episodes a pop), dubbed and subbed.
The only positive that can come out of this is if they air One Piece and its popularity increases in the States.
