Halo 4 Limited Edition announced.

Is physical dead? Everything is digital now. What's worse, is trying to charge for digital things at a physical price.

Could probably buy standard, burn through it and trade it in (or keep), and buy the LE and flip the game or get it cheap.

God damn @ that packaging. Looks great.

So much digital stuff, though. Might be the first Halo game since CE where I stick with the regular $60 edition.

I don't buy special editions any more. I was given the Gears 3 Epic edition as a Christmas present, and it's great but I've got nowhere to put the statue and the it all just sits in its box.

So without a statue and the DLC included I actually am thinking about buying this. If I see it for £60 then I'll bite. If it's £70 then I can live without the steel box and the art book, just buy the game and DLC separately for cheaper.

It's really interesting how there's such disparate opinions on LE digital content. The quotes above are just two examples. Some people feel like it's cheap, insubstantial filler content, and they'd rather have physical things like books and statues. And then others couldn't care less about knick knacks, and are stoked about having in-game content because it's actually relevant to the medium of the main product, and won't clutter their closets.

I don't pay attention to the limited editions of games very often, but this is a divide I've never really noticed before.

Hmm..actually I wouldn't mind if they removed the disc and gave me a code for digital copy of the game too; with nearly everything been digital downloads.

I have Reach and Wars along with all map packs in digital form, so I rather have the option day one rather than having to wait months for it. :p

I know it would be confusing, but I'd like to most releases with 2 skus. 1 physical and a 2nd a case with a download voucher/code. The voucher versions would be $10 cheaper, i think this is a fair compromise between publishers and end users who trade in. I know this will never happen but as someone who trades games a few times a year I'd gladly give up the trade in money for the convenience.

I would prefer some physical goods with the digital. I've bought every CE version of Halo released, and got the Reach LE on discount. A package similar to Reach's with the added "season pass" would make this a no brainer. I like the Reach "statue" but I could do without it, same with my Skyrim CE

I think that's why having a Legendary edition is nice; for the people who want a more physical items/collectables.

none the less, this is a nice set, the Bulletin kinda described it poorly compared to the PR.

Yeah, that actually makes a lot of sense. I guess those folks can just go out and buy some action figures and the art book, though.

I probably should have clarified a bit.

All that in-game stuff seems pretty cool, and it makes sense given that multiplayer and online play is a big part of Halo, but I'm just hesitant because I don't know know if I'll get into the mutliplayer in any significant way. I barely played Reach online for some reason. Lost interest big time after the first 6 weeks or so. I'm guessing H4 will have plenty of changes, but it's hard for me to say before release if I'll like it. I'm more confident in the $60 edition since I always at least enjoy the story and core gameplay in the Halo campaigns.

That's just me personally. More info on multiplayer may sway me, we'll see. Either way it'll probably be a fine edition for a lot of fans.

You know what would be cool? If Frankie would post his thoughts in this thread... especially on the emphasis on digital content for this LE. C'mon Frankie...POST! O_O

There's nothing really in there that makes me say "I WANT THIS NAO", so unless 343 seriously wows me in the coming months, I guess I'll be sticking to standard.

Seems weak. The only thing of value are the map packs and buying the standard game at a discounted price + map packs will probably be cheaper.

For Halo 'fans' (e.g. people who are still playing Reach and own the DLC for it), this seems like a no-brainer if you're on board with Halo 4. It's basically the same as buying the game + DLC at each release, and then you get some in-game swag and a Halo movie as well. That's not bad.

Any idea how long before Amazon puts it up for pre-order?
They already did. You just have to search for it.

I'm still going to recommend shopto Gui, I heard they were good at fulfilling international orders.

Of course if you are comfortable with amazon, go ahead.

Problem is I'm not the one who buys it. Can't buy stuff online so I have to ask a friend to do it and he tends to only buy from Amazon

Thanks for the suggestion though

Weapon skins now. So when they said halo has to evolve they mean by copying everything in cod and calling Halo.

Seriously, is there anything new that isn't taken from cod?

Oh no weapon skins can only stay in CoD!

Seriously this is the most minor thing to bitch about, the other stuff like AA's and loadout I can see the questioning there but weapon skins? Who cares.

nice 5 eh.... which fucking world have you been living in?

The latest map pack for Halo Reach is 1200 points or 15 us dollars.
Yeah but it has 6 maps, Halo 4's will apparently all be 3 maps each so they'll most likely be 800 MSP.

Uh... Forerunner... Vision? I don't know. Does CoD have that yet?

I dunno, I still wish they had something more physical in this LE. Legendary Editions were great for fans of things like this, and now the Borderlands 2 SE really blows stuff away. The DLC stuff is nice, but it feels really phoned in.. I want things that are special, like Halseys journal, or how it was in an ammo crate with a memory core from Reach.

Same with the steelbook. Its nice and sexy, but I really like the Reach LE in the memory block. Im kinda deflated in a way, it makes the game feel a little more 'average'.

Blacklight: Retribution, an F2P shooter, did this first I believe. It's actually really great because you turn it on when you spawn, immediately see where the action is and get there ASAP. Once you get closer the cooldown should be done, you rescout real quick, change up your approach and then get in there. And since everyone can essentially wallhack just like you, it opens up the metagame quite a bit as you can then use the knowledge that everyone knows exactly what you're up to in order to create traps and false senses of security.

I pre-ordered the Halo 4 LE. I'm actually glad there's really no physical goods with it.. I still use the Halo 3 cat helmet as a book end. That stuff just winds up in a landfill anyway. My favorite Halo special edition goodie is still Halsey's journal from Halo: Reach

After a long deliberation I decided I won't be picking this LE.
I got all Halo games including Halo Reach: Limited Edition which I find gorgeous and which cost me <50 pounds.
I recently got Diablo III which is also a piece of art.
Both of these contain amazing physical goodies which I find are essential to a good LE/CE.

Halo 4? Not so much. This mostly digital content simple doesn't justify this price. I'm somewhat sad because I adore Halo and will be picking up the standard ed. day 1 but I really hoped that Halo 4 would have some sort of an amazing LE (including the Legendary edition).
Oh well...
