Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

loving it, but hopefully it is just launch week woes lag wise, i was killed 4 different times last night in the middle of mobs because it hiccuped in the beginning of a fight. even if it's just intermittent, i'll probably never run a hardcore char :(

So? Shouldn't have logged out in a dungeon. My fault and I know better next time.

I'm not hating, just saying that it sucks that this game's hardcore will not be like Diablo 2's. Server issues can cause some bullshit that didn't happen in the previous installments.

hey guys, is anyone else having an issue with really small text size? is there a HUD scaler or text font size option anywhere?

I posted this awhile back but it drowned in a sea of drama. As far as I know there's nothing we can do to fix it. Text size appears constant even when changing resolutions.

I'm too much of a pansy to do Hardcore. :( And when do Legendary items drop? I want some!

Hardcore is super-awesome, IDEALLY ---> that is, when you don't have to deal with demonic lag and disconnects that kill your char.

It harkens back to roguelikes and is a very interesting way to play since you become vastly, vastly more attached to your character and you're on hyper-alert as a result. And every time you come close to dying you really feel it. Similarly, when you're rolling through enemies knowing that death is permanent, you feel even more like a badass.

Might be stressful for some but it adds a whole new dimension to the game.

It will pass over time, I think once ther serves are no longer bogged down HC will be much more viable.

This game makes me jones like a motherfucker.

Seriously, no other game has held my sway this hard after playing it except for MMOs that I'm really into. FUCK MAN

To all the pro-Witch Doctors: Could somebody explain to me the usefulness of Spirit Walk? I haven't really used it yet because I'm having trouble trying to figure out why anyone would equip it over a pack of rabid dogs.

Walking unencumbered for 2 seconds? I don't get it.

I don't know the name for it but I hate the feature where you get hit even when you're out of range of the enemy. They say it's so they don't have excessive kiting, but that is bullshit. Died a few times on the end boss because I got pulled back into an attack when I was actually out of it. So dumb.

Elective mode really helped me out last night. I'm playing as a Monk, level 21, and I couldn't decide between Cyclone Strike and Seven-Sided Strike. So I took both!

I also really like Lashing Tail Kick but my Barbarian friend tends to get a little angry at me when I throw everyone away from us, haha.

Is there a way to sort my inventory of armor and weapons so I can quickly discern which is the best to worst? I spend so much time perusing my inventory trying to see if what I just picked up is better.

Er, Diablo 2 servers were far worse than Diablo 3's. There was a boss (and, hell, entire segments of the game) that were just utterly ridiculous due to the server issues.

the dogs suck later on. windwalk is so you can get yourself well positioned in a team fight to lay down you aoe stuff as you see fit, etc. etc.

It's a great escape tool. And great to use when you're being crowded - bust out Soul Harvest and then Spirit Walk back out.

Later runes give it healing or mana buffs.

/!\ ATTENTION ABOUT THE BATTLETAG LIST FOR NEW AND EXISTING ENTRIES /!\

I have added a new "Death Mode" column to the Battletag List for those of you who would like GAF to know what style of play you prefer! (There's also a fancy new chart waiting to be filled in!) I need all new entries to please list their NeoGAF Name, Battletag, Location, Favorite Class, and now Death Mode preference! This goes for existing entries as well, if you only need your Death Mode updated just post your GAF name and preference. Thanks and remember that making your post stand out with bold text or the Battletag image really helps the five of us (myself, CarbonatedFalcon, ZealousD, HenryHSH, and Nacire) spot your post to update you! Keep on slaying! (Thanks to the community for the idea, and thanks to Carbon for bringing it up to me!)

Jesus Christ at Realyn losing his HC char

If it were any other game, it'd go right back to the shop. Blizzard is getting away with murder, I hope they know that. Having to keep an eye on the lag counter in the SP campaign is some kind of bullshit, dealing with server disconnections in SP is unprecedented, and I'm astonished the gaming media hasn't been more outspoken against this.

I dont think so. Its crazy isnt it. Especially when you are running a game with 3 others. They are still killing, and you are trying to see if the items you have been looting are upgrades or not.

I usually keep playing until we kill the next rare, then I just TP back to town and take my time then click their banner and rejoin them. The rares are sometimes spaces apart, so normally I can get back to the fight before they make it to the next one, but not always /shrug. Don't stress it too much. Not alot of the low level stuff matters, at end game, thats when we will all be paying more attention to the drops.

Btw, posted that earlier. My impressions on the DH so far.
Solo HC DH:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#aZQdXV!aeY!baabbb

Like most people I'm conviced that my build is THE build. I tried pretty much everything, but still went back to the build I had in mind after the beta.
1 hatred builder/1 single target spell/1 multi target spell/3 defensive abilities is the way to go in my eyes.

Hatred builder:
-Hungering Arrow is the best imho. Use Shatter shots for random packs and Devouring Arrow for act bosses.
-Entangling Shot. You dont need that slow. You have a Templar tanking for you - and I hope you gave him some good items.
-Grenades are a no go because of the range.
-Bola .. meh, not so bad. But lacks DPS.
What makes Hungering so great is the fact you can shift left klick and hit bosses that even aren't on your screen. Same for Elite packs.

Single target spell:
-Rapid Fire. No. Standing still sucks.
-Chakram - too random.
-Which leaves Elemental Arrow and Impale. Both are ok. Note that EA only costs 10 hatred with 170% weapon damage, while Impale costs 25 with 250%. I'm using Impale for the stun.

Multi target spell:
-Multishot wins. Really, no way around Multishot. 20 hatred for 170% weapon damage on ~5-10 targets?Insane. You want to use a high damage(NOT DPS!) weapon with a slow attackspeed.
For bosses I switch Multishot with Sentry.

Defensive skills:
-Smoke Screen is prob the best skill in the game if you ask me. With the combination of my runes you can use Smoke Screen 4 times = 12 seconds INVINCIBLE!, then use Prep, restore 60% life and be completly invincible for another 12 seconds.

Passives:
-Movement speed explains itself. Positioning is everything.
-And well, the other two for damage.

Thought this was funny:

I also really like Lashing Tail Kick but my Barbarian friend tends to get a little angry at me when I throw everyone away from us, haha.
Tell them to use Ground Stomp with Wrenching Smash to bring them back in again! Love that combination! ^_^

Leap in > ground stomp > rend > HULK SMASH > dead.

Add in Earthquake if it's off cooldown and there are tricky mobs.

Not so useful early, but once you get into later NM and HM mana will become a serious limiting factor to your DPS, so Spirit Walk is used with the Honored Guest rune for the 30% mana gain, and also as a cooldown to keep your Vision Quest passive up so you can spam more explosive zombies.

I am now a level 10 Barb near the end of Act I and I have to say this game worries me. I can almost hear the words of my family fading away as this game draws me in deeper. Time passes faster, my body becomes one with my chair, and my mind races with every loot drop like an old man with a scratch lottery ticket dreaming of a better life (or a badass sword). If these server issues don't get worked out, I may consider it a sign.

Way ahead of ya. It's my favorite Witch Doctor ability. Insane buff.

I actually use Soul Harvest more as heal now than I do for the intelligence buff. Extremely essential in the sub 40's to keep your DPS up, but the intelligence on items will soon enough begin to quickly outstrip the intellect offered by SH, making it less necessary for DPS. I still use it as CD to keep Vision Quest up, but running into a group to try and get a 5 stack SH is almost certain death, I just blow it everytime it's up on whatevers the closest that won't gib me.

Turn on elective mode and put your dogs in a different slot if you really neeeed them.

Spirit walk is just straight up good for positioning and running out of trouble though.

You're invulnerable during it, and you get a speed buff on top of it. It removes any movement debuff you have as well that is an effect and not a physical block. It is basically one of two very good "get out of jail free" cards the Witch Doctor gets.

That fight with
Belial
where he basically spams the entire floor of the arena is infinitely easier with Spirit Walk.

As far as dogs go you don't even need to bind that specific skill to have dogs. Instead charm things right before they die and you'll get a free set of dogs with a particular rune slotted.

I am getting this weird sound issue. Basically when a character talks I get way more volume out of the right speaker channel and it is very low on the left. Kind of off-putting. Anyone else have this issue?

Yeah I was curious how SH would fare at higher difficulties. What about combo'ing it with Spirit Walk to escape mob groups?

I am now almost 7 hours into Act 1 lvl 14 Monk and I am liking this game more and more. Stayed up until 11 last night playing planned on stoping at 10 but with every new checkpoint just kept thinking 1 more checkpoint then I will quit.

The game is like crack and I am like the junkie thinking just 1 more hit and then i will quit.
