One of those lines that I probably heard 50 times before finally being old enough to understand what it meant. My naive little brain was never able to make sense of why they were in bathrobes.

[edit] It was probably more like 20 times and then 30 times where I could have understood it, but was so accustomed to the original, innocent interpretation (they're in bath robes because it's the morning and they just came from home) that I completely neglected the fact that they said "brothel".

Watch Married with Children now. You'll have the same reactions every single show.

So when do we think this show will finally wrap up?

I'm hoping around season 25 because it's a nice milestone, it's obvious the show was
getting worse as it progressed, but these really recent episodes have been terrible.

Would be fine with a good Simpsons movie every few years if the TV show does end.

And I'd pickup the complete box set in an instant, no matter the price.

With any luck the show will stop as soon as possible, then the healing can begin.

Speaking of which, why does Al flush the toilet? Is there reference I'm missing? Or is it a "MWC viewers will laugh at anything" statement?
It was a running joke on MWC. IIRC a lot of scenes began with a toilet flush and Al walking into the living room (from the bathroom), to which the audience applauded/cheered/laughed. Presumably a man taking a shit is a pretty awesome event worthy of special attention.

I love that show.

"The sum of the square roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side."

"That's a right triangle, you idiot!"

"D'oh!"

I want a gif of Marge walking in and out with the OJ.
Why hasn't this happened yet. It's as funny as the Grandpa gif.

Let'em hit 1000 episodes.

Honestly, not having the Simpsons on the air would be weird and sad. As low as the quality has dropped from the classics, it still makes me laugh without needing to stoop to racist/rape/shock humor, and I really respect that. It's not like there's anything better to replace it, and is still on average funnier than any of the new stuff that shows up on fox. If the best new material we're seeing fox offer is unfunny drek like Allen Gregory and Napolean Dynamte (I saw episode 4, and I honestly want to see Simpsons bashers tell me this isn't worse).

The bar of quality was so high for classic Simpsons, so I can understand long time fans complaining all the time, but honestly these fans should just stop watching. It will never be the same. Ever. What we have here to day is practically a different show, and next to the other animated sitcoms airing today, it still manages to hold it's own fifteen years past it's heyday.

Ending the series with the occasional movie here and there would be acceptable too though..

Wanted to share this, but I was banned, so here we go.

Ripped and encoded all my Simpsons DVDs for playback on my iMac, iPhone, and eventual AppleTV purchase.

I've watched so much more Simpsons recently because of it.

Seen this episode a bunch of times and never even noticed this quote.

Smithers: What’s wrong sir, did I get some in your eye? The Shampoo specifically said, “No more tears.”
Mr. Burns: Ah, lovely promise but, one beyond the powers of a mere shampoo.

I was watching that newish ep where Bart starts making those shirts with taglines and there's really good delivery on one line of the ad for the coin sorter

"Help me, Romco Change Magician!"

Anyone know what season would have been broadcasting when the season 2 DVD commentaries were recorded? During one of them Matt Groening said something along the lines of...

By the end of season 1, we'd pretty much nailed the art style. You can't tell the difference between Season 2 and the current Simpsons.

Someone should email him this thread.
