So... I tried a new demon hunter build and it's Amazing

Basically, it's all built around attack speed-onhit effects. Not only do I keep stuff permenantly stunned/frozen/feared/whatever, but I build so much hatred I can spam cluster arrow. My speed currently is 2.53 attacks per second. Factor in that grenades can gain 8 hatred per attack + mortal enemy... fuck it's spam time.

Here's the builds

Regular:

Boss (Aka never run outta hatred ever)

Once I get Loaded for Bear, and Ballistics... it's going to be nuts

Thanks for this :)

Anybody know if it's better to farm Act I on Inferno difficulty or
Whimsyhire
on Hell difficulty?
(aka is it worth the ~1mil gold)

What the hell, I just beat the Spider boss in Act 1 of Nightmare and when I tried to join a public game again, I was sent to the beginning of Act 2. This shouldn't be possible, should it?
And now the game thinks I've completed all the quests before Act 2 (I can select them if I click on Change Quest), so my progression is kind of fucked.

Seriously, fuck you blizzard. These elite mobs are not fun. This is not fun. Fuck you.

I was fighting a elite (rare?) mob with invunerable minion in at a tiny corridor. =_=

Thank god the objective was to grab an item from the dungeon. I just vault my way in, trap and tp back. lol

I've played it for about 4 hours, which is to say not a lot, but man I'm not enjoying the game so far.

Sure, I"m still playing normal, but so far all I've done is walk around and click. No threats from enemy at all, the game heals me automatically, I have no worries about mana, and it seems like the stats are not customizable. I'm not sure if the skills are customizable, but I haven't really gotten to the point I understand it.

Hope it gets better from here, but I'm worrying that this is not the game I waited 10 years for D=

Normal is pretty easy mode, the skill system also develops as you get higher and have more potential loadouts.

Nightmare and up is where the game really comes into its own, which is a bit of an annoyance.

Hardcore says hi.

Invunerable minion sure is up there in the ranking of the most bullshit abilities monsters can have. Everything else gets killed, but invulnerable, screw that.

Also done with Hell Act 3. The last area is sooo tedious......it goes on and on and on....and on. :/

I'm hearing from people that the chars are not customizable. As in, I can't choose what skills to boost, what stats to boost, etc.

Is that correct? :/

I think it's intended that rare and champion mobs are supposed to be harder than bosses. Some of the combinations are beastly on Hell, I don't even want to imagine inferno.

this game isn't diablo 2. Your build is very customizable, but you do not put in points into anything, things naturally unlock as you progress. The building comes from all the different combinations of skills and runes and stat boosts with weapons.

I officially hate teams where everyone but me is idle, on Nightmare.

Had a DH in hell act 3 while a group of 3 was clearing the first section just go "hold on a minute" and went afk for 20 mins then came back and said "gotta go, sorry" and then left the game. I whispered him and voiced my displeasure with his actions.

Do people not realize they are making it a pain in the ass for everyone else?

You can customize your stats with gems. Every socketed item other then helmets and weapons (where the gems do something different), can affect any stat with the right gem.

My DH at end of normal mode.. some pretty sweet pieces dropped for me!

I'm feeling the same way about D3, I've gotten past the SK battle but it's just not doing much for me, and I was addicted to D2.
I don't know what it is, something just isn't clicking, and I keep losing interest

Doing Inferno runs. This shit is not fun.

Elites are not balanced AT ALL.

I can't even imagine inferno. I'm practically about to call it quits. This seriously puts a damper on the entire game. I've only had one hell party that could actually get quests done. Other than that it's been just death after death after death from terrible elites that literally can't be touched. This is such bullshit. I barely have the motivation to make another character if I know I'm just going to run into this shit again...

Just reading this made me rage, thank you. :)/:(

It's much much worse in Inferno as Elites have 6 random traits.

Mortar Immunity Molten Faster = good fucking game

I don't even know why they designed it like this. This is pretty much the worst thing I have ever seen lol

Considering MF is averaged out and leveling solo is so much faster, it's almost as if they encourage playing alone...

I also really hope they release PVP soon. I don't see everyone sticking around grinding inferno for so long.. They should have at least included dueling

MF is averaged but you'll get far more rare drops from partying as, from what people say, MF is just a matter of determining the stats rather than the drop rate. I've gotten something like 6-7 yellows in one dungeon floor in a party before. Soloing is only faster if your DPS isn't as high. You can make very quick progress in a party, even blazing through Normal and Nightmare.

So which one is better for gold farming: boosting Gold Find or boosting Magic Find? I can only use one gem with my helmet.

Magic Find is probably better for higher levels because you'll get more worthwhile drops that you can use especially if you get lucky with legendaries. Gold Find is the choice for leveling IMO as you can use the AH to buy gear as you level if you get shitty drops.

I think that's the point of inferno though. It's supposed to be tough as diablo's balls

For starters, no game is ever balanced at the beginning. Expect changes in upcoming patches. What those changes will be nobody knows, but it's fairly certain there will be plenty of changes in the coming months, like every other game.

Secondly, on higher difficulty levels gear becomes ever so much more important. Are you just going through the game at a constant pace, relying on whatever random drops you happen to find? Start decking out your characters. You can find some really amazing stuff on the AH for cheap if you look.

Finally, yea it's inferno. It's fucking hard. Make some friends and try to group with them regularly. Don't do public games.

I'm curious to see if anyone will ever beat Inferno on Hardcore. I honestly don't think it will ever happen, given the penalty for dying means you have to go through all previous difficulty levels again from the start.

lol, this sounds horrible

I forsee a nerf coming to Inferno anyway now that it's been world firsted.

So I finally got this installed for the weekend. I played a session with Ken from GAF. It was a lot of fun. I was playing a barbarian because it seemed simplest. At first, I was thinking this game wasn't really for me, but afterwards, I kept thinking about it so I went back to play a Demon Hunter. The holding shift thing bothered me for a long time, but I think I'm used to it now. I'm having a lot of fun with the game.

I got to Act 2 today. The difficulty increased by quite a bit. Act 1 was really easy and I never dropped health really. In Act 2, I find that I'm often running around with like half health and I finally have to use potions.

My character actually looks kind of cool now too. I enjoy getting different looking equipment.

I'm pretty poor. Is it worth it to pick up white/grey equipment to sell? I feel like I'm not getting much for them and my inventory is constantly full.

Do we have some GAF list or something? I would enjoy co-op with GAF.

Finished it on normal, last act is quite hectic. Not too many good drops for me though, got so much shit that is either useless or not for my class.

No, don't pick up grey equipment, or most white stuff, it's really not worth the space in your pack. Pick up gems, though.

Yep, and a lot more hp for the elites. I did tough it out and fought the spawns of hell the best that two barbs could. That same barb and I ended up rolling through the end of act 3 together and wiped about 35-40 times thanks to some *ahem challenging elite soul lickers that you literally can't get away from. My favorite was arcane, waller, desecrator on some of the narrower sections on the descent down.

I pick up greys and whites because sometimes blues and yellows will be hidden under them and you can't see it until later.

When I run out of space, i just drop all my greys and whites.

Just hit tab? i have never had a item mysteriously hide under another item.

The name will appear on your screen regardless how many items are in that spot.

.
No, it isn't. By Act 2 I was picking up only blues and up, and salvaging most of my blues while selling a few. You get a decent amount of gold just from the gold drops alone.

This is the wrong kind of "tough" though.

This is not good video game design. This is just laziness. Blizzard did a good job of adding difficulty to WoW raids with hardcore modes with well designed mechanics. In Diablo 3, they just thought of the most asinine, obnoxious mechanics and put them all in a hat for the game to pick which ones to use on each Elite.

Like I said, Mortar + Molten + Immunity plus the sentry lasers and freeze bombs around the area of battle just make it all a pile of bullshit.

Can't commend Blizzard on this game at all. It lacks content and an endgame worth a damn. I haven't played Diablo 2 but I'm glad I didn't wait 10 years for this. I'd be sorely disappointed.
