Here's what I've been running as DH. Been working for me so far halfway through Act 1 of Inferno: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#WcYdlj!abY!bYabbb

I have like 8k health but my DPS is ridiculous. I've always been a "glass cannon" kind of guy.

You and me must be twins separated with that build... finally I see someone else doing it right! :lol (Though I have a different rune for RoV)

Whats your DPS like? I don't particularly like being a glass cannon so I've been stacking some VIT as well.

i have been playing this on plasma from the couch. I ended up mapping all of my keyboard buttons to the left side of an xbox 360 controller. D pad is used for all of my action bar skills. the analog stick is for potions, and inventory and map. Left trigger is shift and left bumper is alt. I think it was worked out superbly.

Loving my WD but for some of the bosses I really need to switch back to boring ass darts.

I love the bouncing Firebombs though. Toss one of those and it seriously destroys things.

Makes it easy to bust crates/barrels super easily too.

Locust swarm = godlike.
The only summon worth a damn is the Gargantuan + the rune that enrages him around elites or packs.

Been rocking the WASD script and loving it.
Gonna check out DarkD3 right now for starting Hell.

Do we know what summons health is based on, or even what it is? Is it flat or a percentage of your health etc? Does it scale in difficulty levels?

Sorry to hear that! It doesn't affect my performance at all. I get some frame drops at some spots though, but that's with or without SMAA.

Same, especially in the
spider cave
. Would have a solid 60 fps with enemies on-screen, then walk over to a very similar area without enemies and experience an abrupt drop. It resolves itself almost immediately, but it's still annoying.

How far along are you because I don't think 8k would make it very far apart from maybe normal mode. I made a dh with high dps but in later acts in nm I was getting destroyed by elite mobs and such.

My gargantuan tanks like a beast and has yet to die even once.
They are really useful, but also as dumb as wet bread (as are your followers). They will stand in a poison cloud until they die or the poison dissipates.

And the stupid thing with followers and creatures: they chase treasure goblins in directions that you don't want them to go. I wish they'd ignore them until I attack, so that I can corner them. But no, they chase them down the hallway...

Dire Bats does more consistent damage than Sacrifice without wasting slots. The class just isn't living up to its 'role' right now. Viable builds revolve around targetted spells, making Witch Doctors a stationary and not very flashy wizards.

FuttBuck, you probably don't need Spirital Attunement on that build.

Curious as to why you have 3 skills that are all hatred dependent. I get that you might not need survivability, but you can provide more damage if you replaced one of those with Mark of Death (Valley of Death). Otherwise you just have 2 skills you can't use while the other is using the hatred.

As with your primary attack - if you're AoE centric, why not bola?
I got some decent hatred regen, but Mark of Death is not that bad of an idea. Although I feel the build I have is very flexible. I seldom use all 3 in the same situation.

Hell down. On to Inferno.

I partied with other folks for almost all of the Hell content. I killed
Diablo today
solo though. It was annoying having people leave after a few wipes, or if they just weren't very good, it just slowed me down. Ill come back and get the co-op achievement for
Diablo on
Hell later when I outgear it a bit. Right now my gear is horrible, I can't carry anyone through it.

I'm a level 53 WD and he's right. pets are shit and you basically only use darts + bats/zombie bears to make dps.

No no no, exploding dogs is a hundred times better than anything else the WD does.
Zombie dogs (final gift) + Sacrifice (next of kind) + Mass confusion (devolution)
with Zombie handler and Circle of life
Up to 12 dogs I have exploded consecutively
Dogs Zombies are the primary way of attack, all the rest buys you time.

My current build

I like Stampede because it helps me take care of blues. It's a great way to keep them at bay while I unload arrows into them. Doesn't do shit against yellows though, haha.

I do 18k damage right now (though I think I am starting to hit a bit of a wall; needs to be higher!)

halfway through Act 1 of Inferno

I did the same (shift some dex away for vit) towards the same spot, but if I am getting 1/2 shotted anyway I may as well go all out.

Onwards to nightmare on my sorc :3

Getting close to the end of Act III on normal (with DH), and starting to really want to hit the higher difficulty levels. No matter how many times I try them, I just can't get into grenades, even with tinkerer I don't much care for them. Currently using shatter arrows and twin chakra for AoE type attacks, and they tear apart enemies atm (I use caltrops and vault for CC and keeping my distance for damage bonus). Now that I'm remembering where the bosses come up on my first play through, maybe I'll use the grenades on latter playthroughs for hate generation on bosses, but for now they aren't really doing it for me in terms of satisfying baddies killing.

You'll need to buy a lot of time once they're on cooldown. What difficulty do you use this in?

Mortar is so much fucking bullshit when it's supposed to be an anti-ranged ability and melee mobs use it to rape you in melee range. Such fucking bullshit

They take awhile to get used to... but ya don't use them unless you have a high attack speed. If you do, you can get some insane hatred generation, or stunlock from the stun grenades.

Yes, you can rebind the mouse buttons.

is there anyway to bind the left click mouse button to ONLY move when clicked and only attack with shift+clicked? its frustrating as a wizard to try and move into a mob of enemies to hit them with frost nova but instead just sitting their shooting charged bolts like an idiot

Man, no more pulse pounding experience than Diablo on HC. Did it with a 31 DH already geared out to 4.7k HP. It was rather easy actually, but I was still extremely nervous about dying during the entire fight.

On to Hardcore Nightmare!

There's no skill tree, but you build your characters 6 skills from over 20 skills (varies per class) and each skill has 5 different runes. And you can customize your character stats with gems. This leads to hundreds of billions of possible (not viable) builds.
There's no visual customization (unless you count dyeing your armor).

Oh, so there really is no visual customization? You don't get armor parts or anything? Didn't they have that in Diablo 2?

Of course you get armour parts, but that's it. You can't change your characters physical appearance (build, hair, eye colour and such). That's what he meant.

Click behind the mobs in question? Works for me, anyway. Though I don't think I'll want to get anywhere close to mobs as I go on. Soul Harvest is nice and all, but so is surviving...

EU lagging like shit right now ?

Dunno, I was warping a bit but the latency was only 150 ms..

Oh, so there really is no visual customization? You don't get armor parts or anything? Didn't they have that in Diablo 2?

Of course you get armor parts. There's no changing your bodytype, hair, face etc. You get armor (15 different visual tiers if memory serves with each class having their own tiers). and you can dye each visible piece to a color of your liking.

You can bind Move to Cursor to a button. I bound mine to W. Helped a shitton in Act 2 end boss.

I'm not sure if modifiers are supported, but there is a "move" command that can be bound that is surprisingly useful.

Oh god I'd love that.

In Hell+, with the amount of mobs and movement you have to do... one miss click like that can fuck you.

You'll need to buy a lot of time once they're on cooldown. What difficulty do you use this in?

Nightmare at the moment, but playing with friends.

Using Mass confusion with (devolution) gives you and extra set of dogs if used correctly. I usually have the gargantuan to buy me time too. Maybe in solo it would be a Hit and run strategy, but that's how I played necromancer :)

Mortar is so much fucking bullshit when it's supposed to be an anti-ranged ability and melee mobs use it to rape you in melee range. Such fucking bullshit

I hate ranged enemies with Mortar that that around in patterns that let them cover each other with Mortar fire :(

Can't change the left click at all, but you could do what I did and bind the move command to the middle scroll wheel button (or whatever else on your mouse), and use that.

People with like 53k dps. My lord. Scary. And I thought my near 12k was awesome. My lord. What are people equiped with? And Inferno solo starting is super scary.

Just made a new build at work. I think its going to help out a ton!

The only summon worth a damn is the Gargantuan + the rune that enrages him around elites or packs.

No way, the rune which summons a stronger Garg for 15 seconds is the best one. He never dies, and more importantly is knockback ability is priceless while fighting elites - since it totally ties them up and lets you focus on DPS. And the 60 second cooldown makes it so he's almost always available when you need him.

Plus his de-summoning is hilarious.

I think you might be talking about the same rune?

I can see it being more useful in a group, but I'm in solo nightmare right now and mobs tend to go after you even if you have a follower and the gargantuan tanking. Not having any dogs to blow up means you'll be running away a lot. Needless to say I'm experimenting with different skills now. Hex is pretty fun.

I suppose, but it'd be really nice to have the option of adjusting this. Its exceptionally frustrating when manuevering around the battlefield as a glasscannon and accidentally clicking on a barrel and then oh hey, you're dead. Someone needs to bring this up with blizzard asap

I want to get Exploding Palm in there for Essence Burn. It seems fun! And, hell, I'm bunching things up anyway...

I've been playing a bit more solo recently and I've been using Exploding Palm/Essence Burn myself. It's very nice for taking groups down especially Way of the Hundred Fists/Fists of Fury. You land one, kill him with your Signature and everyone starts exploding because Fists of Fury hits multiple targets near you.

I love using a variety of spells on WD, but in the end if I want to perform well, the dire bats are just mandatory.

are they really though? I used only DB for a while as well but then now i got Acid Cloud and i am loving that as well, it has a higher(wider) area of effect than DB and you have more range and can aim it at far away mobs!

I hate ranged enemies with Mortar that that around in patterns that let them cover each other with Mortar fire :(

I just got destroyed horribly a pack of skeletons with desecrate, firechains, mortar and damage reflect. I basically stayed alive only for the time I had all my cooldowns running - and I just specced to a cheese spec that focuses on getting three different cooldowns.

I got some decent hatred regen, but Mark of Death is not that bad of an idea. Although I feel the build I have is very flexible. I seldom use all 3 in the same situation.

My point being is that there are other skills you can use in every situation that are being taken up by skills that are all dependent on hatred that you can never use together. For example you could always have a sentry down, or always have Preparation to give yourself completely full hatred so you don't have to stop spamming your 1 useful hatred skill.

Really though, if you're enjoying playing like that or aren't having any issues then far be it from me to tell you otherwise. Personally though seems like there's better use of skill slots.

I like Stampede because it helps me take care of blues. It's a great way to keep them at bay while I unload arrows into them. Doesn't do shit against yellows though, haha.

I'll have to try that vs blues... we had a few issues with some stupid combinations early on, wonder if that will make a difference now.

Yeah I hit the diminishing returns of dex quite early and found that flat +damage or +aspd were giving me greater gains. Now I'm needing more dex... got to find the balance!

Yeah, I played with it over Sweeping Wind at some point and it was satisfying to watch explosions everywhere. I want to try it again now that I have better weapons and more +Damage% in my build off of skills.

Ugh, fuck poison dart, I'm done with this class. I don't think there's any way they could make bosses more boring.
