PS Vita general advice thread, part 3 | Veni, vidi, Vita

People have some ridiculously unrealistic expectations for Vita. I feel like there are people expecting this thing to be like $129.99 or something.

I know the console's not doing great at the moment, and that it needs to sell in order to secure more software, but people need to remember that hardware sales aren't necessarily a race. I mean, the Vita should theoretically last for at least five years -- it doesn't need to be "mainstream" from day one.

i dont care about its sales level in comparison to the 3DS, i just want it to be PSP level successful at least for games.

Really want to thanks the person that told me about the 79 cent Vita case. It is really sturdy, even more than my PSP Hori case, nice looking and it doesn't smell like shit. And of course, it's only 79 cents. Today I will try to put the Hori screen protector.

As my first day with a Vita, I'm really impressed. The machine build, sound, the PSN store (for my surprise, as a PS3 owner) and the screen is so good. Vitua tennis 4 and Uncharted looks and plays very close as the PS3 version. And Killzone Liberation looks really nice for a 2006 PSP game. Gonna buy Super Stardust Delta and Dracula X Chronicles today.

Overall, very happy with the Vita. As I never owned a PSP, the "no games" meme doen't get to my head. In fact, the memory card looks small for the number of things that I want to put in there.

I'm so freaking angry! The PSVita is damn fragile. Even that I handle it with extreme maniacal care, it is a magnet for dust and smudges. Now The silver color on the game card slot is beginning to fade away and guess what? I only opened once to insert my only physical game which is Uncharted.

Can find a car paint with the same color (shiny silver) and try to fix ugly depigmentation?

I am very disgusted to touch this blob again. What's next? We need to only use it in a room like the one where processors are made and wearing that weird outfit? Come on Sony!

I dropped my Vita on the road, and it hit the tarmac hard. The thing still works now albeit with some damage to both sides. T_T

I'd consider it a pretty hardy unit actually.

Just played the demo for Gravity Rush at a Sony Store, what a beautiful game.

Why don't we have a demo yet for the PS Store? I know one is on the way, but the fact that they had one all along on these demo units and the majority of people don't is crazy.

That's Sony for you lol

I know what you mean, how does one quantify something like that? brought back memories of the "wii u is 2x 3x 4x more powerful......" quotes

Exactly, it makes no sense to say something is "X times easier". You can say it's easier, yeah, but to say it's 4 times easier just doesn't make sense :P

The demo is out next week, woohoo!

RCR was supposed to be out this month, but i assume it got delayed?

So... looks like they are just going to bundle their way out of a price cut.

Wifi/Uncharted/4gig mem card for 249 (EU first, US later)

Should have been like this from the beginning, whether it was a memory card or something onboard, it shouldn't have been released with no space for downloads+saves, a foolish decision.

Nice to see them actually getting themselves together though.

Probably just a random number to show that it is much easier. The number gives an idea that the difference is quite noticeable. I remember when i was a kid, we often used to say "it takes 100 years" when we felt something took a long time.

Unless the PS3 version took him four times longer to get working. He sounds like he's keeping track of man hours anyway. Or it's just a random number he threw out to get his point across.

I'm not touching that Gravity Demo. I played like 1minute of the gamestop demo..maybe less. I don't want to 'experience' it too much before I get my hands on it day 1

It's really only a taster it seems. I've played the demo and wasn't terribly impressed until watching some more gameplay videos of the japanese version on youtube. I'd describe the demo as a one-trick pony but would probably have still kept it to try out the mechanics every now and then until my preorder arrived...if I wasn't so low on space already.

I just wish they'd get PSONE Classic compatibility out the door. I want to play FF9 and Xenogears so damned bad.....

I've been wanting to play xeno again, but i'm waiting for PsOne compatibility on the Vita. Playing the classics on the Vita is the main reason I got one. That and Valkyria Chronicles II since I never owned a PSP.

It kinda makes sense to me. People at a store checking out a demo unit don't own one yet. They play GR, and then they want a Vita to get the game.

People at home with their Vitas already own one. If they release the GR demo to those people right before the game comes out, then they try GR and want to buy it. If they release the demo too early, maybe too much time passes and people will have moved on from the interest. It's not often that you see a game's demo released many months before the game comes out because of the impulse factor. All just my assumption, though.

I don't think Sony is as smart as you

Maybe but what else are PS Vita owners going to buy besides Gravity Rush? And at least it would give us owners SOMETHING to download from the PSN store.

One of the many other great games already on the store, or coming out in the coming weeks?

Too many coming out in the coming weeks to list? Speaks volumes when the most exciting thing i'm looking forward to is PSone compatibility and replaying Zen Pinball tables on my Vita.

Then they have some REAL problems hahaha

I wish it was up too. I've been wanting to try it out since I got my Vita in March. I wasn't about to go through the hassle of making another region's account for it, though. I just don't think it would have made a lot of business sense for them to do that.

Due to the drought I caved in and bought Unit 13. I can't believe I passed this on launch, it's incredibly fun. The bugginess of the demo turned me off initialy. The only downside so far are the menus, which IMHO are not very well designed.

Tabletop tanks out this week which is just an AR game, but a fun looking one, and cheap at that. A fun distraction until Gravity Rush demo, which is out next tuesday/wednesday. Resistance: Burning Skies is also out next week. And then 2 weeks after that, Gravity Rush full game is out.

Well yeah, it is a Zipper game.

I bought 3 PSP games and 9 Vita games so far. Haven't completed all of them yet.

I also downloaded and use the Twitter app and Music Unlimited often. The built-in Music Player and web browser are pretty handy too.

Music Unlimited is on Vita?
Well shit it is.

I'm most definitely going to need them to announce some larger memory cards soon. At least make two more and shift the prices down accordingly. 32G here and having to decide what I will keep installed and what stays backed up.

Also, any word on NHL13? After FIFA, I have a renewed interest in sports games. Would be so dope.

32 GB and you're complaining? What the hell...did you download all of the vita games and some PSP games too?

Anybody find/have LBP Beta impressions or media yet? It's basically the game I bought a Vita for. :p I'm soooo pissed that I missed the damn beta signups. :(

18 digitalVita games and 10 PSP games on my card now. Only physical game I have is Fifa and that's just to keep the contacts 100%. Dreading when PS1 is enabled because thats like another 20 games to worry about. This thing comes with me everywhere and I am thoroughly enjoying myself.

I was also turned off by the demo. Seemed horribly generic to me. How does the full game differ?
