This sucks. I can't play since my account got hacked and has to roll back so I am here twiddling my thumbs until Blizzard replies.

Let this be a lesson to use the authenticator folks.

Nightmare and Beyond: Attack Speed, Intelligence, and Vitality. +Damage is nice early, but fades in effectiveness later.

Normal Mode: If you're in normal, +damage may up your DPS more than the others. I might recommend one ring +3-5 damage and one ring with Int/Vit/AS, with an amulet bringing Int and/or Vit.

What use is attack speed for a wizard? I see that it makes my damage stat go up, but see no difference in actual attack speed, and most my damage is burst anyway.

I'm in Hell, btw.

Looks like luck has decided to reward me for dropping WD until a complete class revamp. Already got a legendary drop on my new wizard!

It it known for a fact that using an authenticator means you can't get hacked? Just curious.

I'm using an autheticator btw.

If it's that session key hack I don't see how the authenticator would do a damn thing. It would have thought you already logged in.

Sessions should be ip locked anyways. Really really dumb of them.

Caltrops would be better if it was targetted, instead of on top of yourself.

No way, keep your ideas to yourself. Caltrops not being targeted means I don't have to move my mouse to over "there" to plant the trap and then move to the back of my character to move it then move back to shoot and then move again to plant the trap. Probably also why I hate spike trap.

Spike trap also seems to do horrible damage for the hatred cost vs. ball lightning.

For everyone commenting on the blur in-game: D3 uses a post-process anti-aliasing technique (perhaps FXAA, and if not something very similar). Instead of anti-aliasing specific pixels, PP AA simply blurs the entire image. In terms of performance it's super low, but because of the game's zoomed out perspective detail gets absolutely annihilated (zoom in on your character and try to see the specific laces and buckles on a pair of boots).

People are pointing to Dark3D as an alternative, which is also a PP technique. Where it differentiates itself is that it's a configurable FXAA injector, allowing you to sharpen or apply other filters in addition to completely changing the color of the game.

If you don't mind the game's aesthetics I would instead suggest disabling the in-game PP AA and using proper multisample anti-aliasing. If you've got anything other than a decrepit system this shouldn't pose a problem performance-wise. This will give you true 1:1 texture clarity and provide a superior level of anti-aliasing (have found that textures with baked in specularity, like the Waypoints, look incredible without a PP blur applied).

On NVIDIA systems download NVIDIA Inspector: http://downloads.guru3d.com/NVIDIA-Inspector-1.94-download-2612.html

Then set up your profile as shown and disable the in-game AA option:

If you have performance issues with 8xQ MSAA simply lower the value.

On AMD systems, ask someone who has an AMD video card, because I haven't got a clue :)[/QUOTE]

Thanks a lot for that. Fixed my frame rate issues - buttery smooth 60fps. Looks great too.

Decided to start playing the AH game now that I'm on Nightmare. Already got huge upgrades on Helm, Hands, Chest, Legs for under 20k. Pretty crazy.

Need to figure out good gold farming spots now :).

How does it work when you change your quest? I'm currently on Nightmare Act III and I wanted to go back and kill a boss from Act II on Normal to try to get one of the challenge achievements. But when I tried I got a warning that said that it would erase my currently saved progress. Does this simply mean that I'll have to start over my current quest (e.g. possibly before my current checkpoint), but that I'll still be able to continue mostly where I left off? Or something else?

People will never stop complaining about every single class being under powered. I swear some people just want them to buff every class until you can just steamroll the whole game.
Honestly, it isn't so much WD being underpowered as it is WD not even fulfilling the summoner role he ought to, making half his skills pretty useless and boring.

Looks like most of the wizard complaints are about survivability (like every other class forum, really), whereas mine are about WD not having a purpose beyond gimmicks (Dire Bats/Dire Bears/Vision Quest).

Yeah you'll just have to come back to some point in the current quest. Once you unlock a segment of a quest you can go back to it any time.

Kinda think they worded that too strongly.

I simply don't understand what's wrong with this game. Runs at 40-60FPS when I start it up, and as time goes the game slows and chokes until it runs somewhere between 10-20FPS. Then when I alt-tab for about 30 seconds and bring it back up, it's smooth again, but the cycle continues. BS.

Aaaaand level 50 wizard, just finished nightmare ♥

Agreed.

My WD is like 36 and I'm pretty tired of him.

His summons are a god damn joke and his skills, while cool looking, are kinda underwhelming.

The spiders feel useless, same with the frogs (which seem to go wherever they damn well please--making them a waste of mana if they don't actually hit a target).

I dunno :/ :(

Sounds like powerstepping. Is it a laptop?

Yup. What's powerstepping if I may ask?

It thinks it's drawing too much power so it's turning down the CPU and video clock speeds. Look in the control panel under power and set it to optimized for performance when plugged in.

If it's an nvidia chipset you might need to look in the nvidia control panel for something called powermizer as well.

Vendors. No shit, they have some amazing blues, you just have to have patience. I bought ~20 of those amulets for 6k each.

Just start a game, have a look and rejoin.

hey what level, difficulty, and act did you farm those type of ammys from? im only 52 so and act 1 hell so i cant do this in inferno

General Wizard question: does basically everyone have Disintegrate, Blizzard and Crystal Shell? It seems that way to me from the games I'm playing online. All those CC spells just seem...basically pointless :/

I don't have Blizzard yet, but half of my spell bar is devoted to defense / control. Frost Nova, Diamond Armor, Teleport helps me deal with Vortex, Waller, and Jailer mobs. Offensive spells are Chain Lightning, Arcane Orb, and Hydra. I imagine you're seeing what you're seeing because you're playing with other people - or the penalty from death is so low they don't really care if they die.

Good god, fuck you for making the Barbarian utterly useless post Act1 Inferno.

They are absolutely useless, melee in general sucks in Inferno.

Note, that this is all after Act1. Act 1 is tough but do-able. Good luck being anything but the shit-kid after that. Maybe you'll be lucky and your buddies will feel sorry for the charity case and take you in their groups, but you wont be doing shit. Stack all defenses, shields, def+ passives and still get shit on by regular mobs. The second your mini stun wears off, your cracked.

Its not a question of gear, cause all my wizard/DH buddies on my friends list are farming inferno and having no real troubles, in terms of progression, obviously everyone has trouble with certain fucked up champion/yellow combinations.

Its a frustrating experience, I honestly dont know how anyone can say its reasonable to expect. Please dont talk and tell me how your 2handed barb or whatever random build you are using is doing in hell or nightmare, I'm talking Act2 Inferno.

Your fucked.

As a WD, the dogs are now useless in Hell. Few people actually use the 4 zombie dogs (with the passive rune) but I really liked them in Normal and Nightmare, + Gargantuan of course. It's too bad they scale so badly once you get to Hell, their health is way too low. I just got the final dog rune that makes them leech 50% of their damage and thought it would help with their survivability, but not at all.

So I had to completely change my build. I do admit Vision Quest + Zombie Bears is quite amazing, it wrecks everything. I keep my Gargantuan and Fetishes on cooldown, then go in with Spirit Walk (health rune) + Soul Harvest (health syphon), then unleash the bears. It's awesome to see the carnage that brings.

But yeah, it seems like having a summon build for WDs at higher levels is out of question, which is too bad.

Yep. Melee is all sorts of fucked in Inferno.

Damn this game is fun.

I find myself fighting the urge to log in 'cause I know its gonna fuck up my evening. having friends always online doesn't help.

At least I have a boss that can appreciate why I'm bleary eyed in the mornings. :lol

hey guys is this amu worth buying multiples of and selling on AH?

So in some games I see some dungeons and some games I dont. Are there class specific dungeons or is it just random? I'm kind of a completionist and I look all around but it seems I've missed books and dungeons and conversations...

Am I crazy or there's a Starcraft reference on act 3 with that zergling skull over the beer barrel next to all the mercenaries? Could be any generic demon but it looks waaay too familiar...
