Does the Monk really get outclassed by the DH and WD as you lvl up?

The grass is always greener.

There are elite abilities that devastate melee characters---molten, plague, chains---and you'll hear people who only play those characters cry about those abilities and how ranged attackers don't have to worry about them all day long. Meanwhile anything with fast and/or mortar is really tough for the ranged characters.

The real "issue" at this point is the Inferno equipment wall. Without the right equipment you can't take hits in Inferno. The ranged classes can kite some of Inferno, even without the right equipment. The trash mobs that might never get in range of the ranged attacker will rip through the melee classes that have to take them on toe to toe.

You either farm the end of hell to pay for inferno-class gear from the auction house or you die often in inferno. Those are your two options.

It is a multiplayer game with 4 difficulty levels. If there are mobs the melee can't handle by themselves in the highest difficulty I don't really have a problem with it. Group with ranged characters and you can handle the mobs that give them fits while they handle the ones that give you fits.

Arcane Enchanted Horde Extra Health :D

kill me
I'm already dead

Nothing will ever be as rage inducing for me as trying to attack caster mobs that run away that also have extra fast as a modifier + 3 other mods in inferno all the while having them drag you across the entire area without you being able to hit them once.

Did eu servers just go down again? I guess its expected from the numbers that came out today but come on blizzard. Its been over a week now and this should have been taken care of during beta!

And EU servers goes down right under progression on inferno boss.

Good fucking job Blizzard. It's like they really want me disliking this game. I keep trying to like it, it works for a couple of hours, then bullshit like this (along with a lot of other crap) shows up.

If I were to play this game single-player, I'd probably give it a 9. But considering all bullshit Blizzard is forcing me to go through, it's a 6 or a 7. Yes, that makes it almost as "bad" as Dark Souls.

Monk
Active Skills
Fists of Thunder
Skill Rune - Quickening
Fixed an issue that was causing spirit regeneration to incorrectly trigger off critical hits from
other sources, such as Sweeping Wind

Mantra of Healing- Mantra of Healing will now correctly provide only two times the base healing effect for the first 3 seconds after activation, down from four times the base healing effect (tooltip will still show the old value)

Skill Rune - Boon of Protection
A maximum absorption amount has been set to 1000 Life. This skill will be redesigned in an upcoming patch.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I'm not dropping my Monk Blizzard, you can't stop me!

I haven't even started NM yet, so this won't effect me for quite some time.

Is dual wielding Barbarian still viable on Hell and Inferno diffulties?

Most barbarians I've seen have one handed weapon and shield in hand

It becomes very difficult to take on rare packs if you remain 2H or DW in Act 3/4 Hell and Inferno. I switched to sword and board and it made my life alot easier.

Yesterday I got an Inferno pack of those Act I bulls with extra health, arcane enchanted, jailer, frozen. FML, I had to drag them out of the path and rez and avoid them, but I did nail an easier elite pack of them later with Molten , something that is tons of fun on mobs with a charge attack.

Speaking of Molten , does anyone else die ALL THE TIME to the explosion left behind while seeing what dropped?

Nothing was as awesome yesterday in my Inferno runs though as the Fast Minion Immune Wretching Corpse pack with molten AND poison pools. Kiting mobs that leave massive void zones that you can't catch = take a huge dump on melee.

Just beat Inferno Act 1, it wasn't too bad.

Act 2... I am getting 1/2 shotted. and I have 35k life :(

Never played monk, but isn't 1k lfe really low? I got 35k D:

It's gone.

jk, i hope its not ;)

I had already thrown it on the auction house 30 minutes ago, i'm sure it's fine.

Such a downer though, my first legendary drop, a lvl 51 barbarian mighty belt, and it's not even half as good as the rare belt from level 38 i'm currently wearing.

Wanna bet? I'm looking hard at shadow power now along with prep. With nether tent/potion/15% protection Sentry/caltrop kite, for those 3 seconds you can keep yourself up and you can chain them as it has no cooldown and the same discipline cost as SS. That opens the possibility of Vit/Dex/Resist build where you use SP to keep yourself up to take a few hits in Inferno.
let me know how that works out lol

Speaking of legendaries and such, do various equipments when equipped give achievements? I swear last night I got a blue h2h weapon, put it on to see the stats change, and it gave me a chievo for it.

Extremely low to the point it is in no way viable as a rune choice. I have over 50k hp in inferno right now without even having vitality on all my gear like I plan on getting.

They said it is getting a full revamp in the next patch so we will see what they change it to.

Honestly quickening+boon spam was a theoretical dead end route even before the changes. It let you get to the next checkpoint but that was about it, and didn't really deal with Act 2 Inferno's incoming damage very effectively and scaled with something that Monk's generally aren't going to want to pile up on all that much (health) vs. what they should pile up on naturally.

You didn't miss anything. I in the middle of Act 2 Inferno with without the build and the class is real hard (but fine) provided that you have a plan with your spec and gear and that plan matches the difficulty's mathematical constraints.

on of the deadliest mobs in the game is probably the Lich boss mob at the very end of act 4 - they move fast, can take a few hits and have a built-in teleport, and their default meteor spell already hits for tons of damage, and that's without the elite abilities.

Come to think of it, an act 3 mob of these frog demons with Invulnerability Extra Health Jailor could be fun times as well.

I've gotten pretty good at avoiding them now that I can't sit and defend through it, I usually pop serenity for it but since I can't anymore, I'm running and keeping space. Frozen is assy but arcane and descerator aren't too bad depending on mob. I just beat a few elite packs a few minutes ago with an adjusted build. 7300 armor is pretty amusing but still no reliable healing power. At least my DPS is strong enough for Act 1 at around 10k plus a lot more extra damage from abilities.
