Need to stop by TRU for some series 7 minifigs tonight - I think they're on sale there.

All this work for hunting down Lego hair... Am I crazy for doing this so that at least one of my Avengers can look closer to their movie counterpart?

Nah. And the tennis player is easy to find too. Just feel for the flat tennis racket.

I'm not gonna lie, a big reason I bought all the series 3 minifigs is that the race car driver's hair is perfect for an unmasked Steve Rogers. So you're not alone.

Next, I gotta go pick up a mechanic for Tony Stark. The computer programmer hair isn't gonna cut it, he clearly needs something with more body.

I've been to TRU about 5 times in the last few months. EVERY SINGLE TIME the minifig bin was 100% empty. And STL doesn't have a LEGO shop.

So I guess I just can't get minifigs unless I order them online and have no idea what I'm paying for :|

Talking of hair, my daughter's currently very into Ninjago, thanks largely to the cartoon. The problem is that the Ninja are shown most of the time with their hoods off, but the figures don't come with any hair. Are there any 3rd party shops (ala Brickarms) where I could get these four wigs? Or is Bricklink my best bet? The selection on Lego.com is abysmal to say the least.

UK btw, if it makes a difference.

That sucks. My local one had boxes for seven and I think series six as well. Will probably try to feel for the tennis racquet and/or teddy bear and decide which hair is better for Hawkeye lol.

You could try Bricklink. Very large variety of LEGO pieces and there should be plenty of shops in the UK.

I had just gotten it settled in my head that I would hold off on buying any of these. I thought it would be a while before anything went on sale.

I am going to be watching like a hawk for any sales on the LotR sets I don't have yet. And I am instantly wondering whether to grab Helm's Deep now, or wait and see if I will be able to get a better deal. I need to look into a couple things before I decide.

Speaking of that, my Attack on Weathertop and Hulk minifig arrived today! Going to build it when I get home from work tonight.

And I loved how they claim on the receipt in the box that the Hulk minifig is worth $9.98.

Amazon just now added Moria to the *almost* 10% off list.

Must wait and be strong...

Man, come over to Europe and you'll be glad about your original pricing. Really, we're gonna pay over 100$ for that thing on Amazon :/

And don't even ask Australia -.-

I told myself I wouldn't get any of this first wave of LOTR sets..but those sale prices are damn tempting.

NOPE I won't buy them! I'll just have to be happy with getting Gandalf Arrives. I just can't stomach the higher price tags for what are more like playsets than display pieces.

My Toys R Us had a bunch of Series 6 and Series 7 figures when I was there on Sunday.

I bought five of Series 7, and they rang up at $3.99 each. I was displeased, but already resigned to buying them, as I spent a good 20 minutes feeling up all the bags. =/

I went through this with my son a few months ago - Bricklink was the answer. These are the closest matches I could find:

Kai: Sleepyhead from Series 6 CMF
Jay: Peter from Friends "Olivia's House"
Cole: Skater from Series 1 CMF
Zane: Agent Swipe from the "Agents" theme

If I get a chance, I will take a picture of them tonight.

Fucking TRU. Went there today, got 2 minifigs. Sticker on the shelf said 3.49, but rang up 3.99. Told the cashier, and she had to go back and get the sticker off the shelf.

Next, they had 2 rows of the Friends cafe on one shelf, right beside each other. One row said 39.99, and the sticker right beside said 40.99.

I gotta ask, WHAT IS WITH TOYS R US ANYWAY?!! All Lego toys are well above MSRP. Why can I find the Lego toys cheaper at the official store or website instead of a competing retail outlet? That just seems insane to me.

It's not just Lego. They mark up every toy. It's mostly parents and grandparents buying presents so they won't know the MSRP of stuff. When you need a gift and don't have much time, TRU is usually the first store that pops in their head.

I only buy sets from TRU when I'm impatient and can't find them at my local LEGO store. Then I buy from the LEGO store when they get them in stock and return those sets to TRU.

I dunno about that. I buy from them occasionally and I usually only notice a $1 or $2 increase at most (EX Skylanders, $8.99 retail- $9.99 TRU). But look at the prices of their Lego toys.

Avengers Quinjet set

$69.99 retail at most stores.

$84.99 at Toys R Us

That, is an INSANE markup. Well more than most markups I see in their store. I dunno what it is about Lego that makes them jack up the price that high.

I couldn't resist.

Apparently it was Take Your Ringwraiths to Work Day.

Awesome thanks, and thanks to others who responded also.

Target has also started marking up their LEGO above MSRP (at least w/Star Wars sets). Fred Meyer is my best bet for decent deals these days.

I've noticed this varies from Target to Target. I have 2 within 5 miles of me, one has the SW sets for 1-3 dollars above MSRP while the other has them exactly at MSRP. No idea why...

These Lord of the Rings sets are a BLAST to put together (so far)! Just assembled Gandalf Arrives. I LOVE his little cart. Small set, but different from any horse and cart I've put together. Gandalf is great of course, but I really like Bilbo in his Shire attire. Well worth the $12.99.

And speaking of Target, I noticed when I went trolling for clearance LEGO that they had several of the Creator sets well over MSRP. They had Lighthouse Island for $48.99. I was disappointed to see that.

I am back home now, sat down to build Weathertop, have the FotR movie soundtrack playing to set the mood.

I must say, the Ringwraith's hood piece does not stay on very well. Even without the cape on to add upward pressure to it.

Think I've decided on my first set in a while! I'm going to make the move into Technic with:

Nice looking set.

I am thinking of doing something insane. Thinking of taking apart Tower Bridge and all my Star Wars ships (except the Imperial Shuttle) to make a MOC. There are way too many pieces in those sets just sitting there and I am itching to make something on my own and not in LDD.

The ships have been together for months and months. Tower Bridge is just a huge and imposing piece that I love having on display, but I want to get a MOC modular to add to my current official ones.

Will debate this through the week.

Tower Bridge is SO good for MOCs. I once saw a modular someone made exclusively with the Tower Bridge parts. Simply incredible!

I have thought of using only Tower Bridge just because of the sheer number of pieces. The copious amount of windows and cheese slopes are why I want to take it apart. And lots of bricks for SNOT work as well.
