Sarigar stuctural enhancements are in place, working like a charm, and I've documented it all here

While QF-45 is probably the most satisfying and demanding Lego model I've every built, its structural integrity leaves something to be desired. "Wings" fall off really easily, and model needs to be held in a careful and calculated manner, so that it doesn't fall apart. I've worked hard to improve this as much as I could, all the while making sure that the look of the ship is not compromised in any way. The result of these few tweaks is a significant structural improvement that allows for fairly casual handling of the ship. I really think anyone building this model should take a close look at these pictures and read the notes posted on them - it really makes a world of difference for the model stability.

After getting a few of the Avengers sets, I went on Bricklink to try to assemble (hoho) a custom Agent Coulson minifig and his I-don't-really-know-what-it-does gun. Sadly, there's no "receding hairline" piece that's really suitable, so I had to go with generic hair, but I think he turned out OK.

Forgive the crappy picture. My iPhone doesn't really take good shots in my poorly lit living room.

Great pic and it cements it even further that Lego need another Avengers set with Coulson, Hill and Fury - preferably the Helicarrier. Or if not the Helicarrier, then the S.H.I.E.L.D. campus so that there'd be a variant Hawkeye thrown in that set too.

Gotta say the LotR stuff is really satisfying my Lego castle craving right now, doesn't help any that I love LotR too.

Ended up swinging by the Lego store last night to grab a Hulk fig and use my VIP credit on the Weathertop set, looks like a fun build.

First pic of the new Spiderman set. It should retail around $40 with about 362 pieces.

Day 1 (on amazon :p). I'm starting to get my fill on these "set piece" sets (batcave, funhouse, even mines of moria) that don't offer a lot of BRICK bricks... but no way will I pass on a this since i want spidey and doc oc so badly

Doc Oc is pretty creatively conceived here but I still don't think Spidey works very well in LEGO form.

Still, would I love a LEGO video game with spidey? Fuck yes.

I don't know how many would be left at other stores, but I saw two local Kmarts had the Queen Anne's Revenge from the PotC series for $60 on clearance. I had seen one in the first one but didn't immediately get it so it was gone when I went back, but the second store I went to after that had three so I got one. As much as I'd love to build it myself, I'm saving it as a Christmas gift for my nephews. I think it'll probably be among the biggest sets they've ever gotten, at a bit over 1000 pieces.

I was at Walmart today, picked up Shelob Attacks and a couple Stanley SortMaster Juniors to start improving my storage system as I continue getting new sets. (All of my old Lego from years ago are in a large Rubbermaid tub, not ideal in the slightest.)

I also saw one set of Queen Anne's Revenge was on clearance for $80. I stood in the aisle for 10 minutes trying to decide if I should let myself get it or not. Alas, I left it there. That $80 is going towards the other LotR sets!
edit: Only $60 at a couple other places? Ymmv indeed. I probably would have caved and bought it for $60... oy.

Thanks, checking mine after work!

Get one for yourself, it's a great looking ship

But I still have the Imperial Shuttle, X-Wing Fighter, and Volkswagen Van in my backlog to build. Too much LEGO, not enough time. :(

Well, in that case, I guess you can put it off. But it's a great set, lots detail (not referring to the stickers lol) and you can easily cart around all of the Avengers in just the Quinjet alone. :)

Dude. I try to always keep a backlog. There's something sexy about an unbuilt LEGO set sitting under my bed, just waiting for me to build it whenever I fancy. I actually try to hold off as long as possible too.

It's not a good feeling when all the LEGOs in the house are already built...

Leads to an overwhelming desire to buy more. I still have my Medieval Market Village sealed. Feels good.

Absolutely. I have four LOTR sets. Hoth, Wampa cave and a Mace Windu Set sitting around . Going to pick up some more this afternoon.

I'm down to two - sonic boom and tower bridge. Feel the need to stock up before opening one up

Oh man, my Lego backlog is nuts. Though I have a backlog for just about everything. Working 60-80 weeks will do that.

But this weekend, I'm diving in! I just have to figure out where to start. Oy.

I'm going to put together every Monster Fighter set this weekend, only building it at night. I don't think I'll get to the Star Wars sets, but if I get Queen Ann's Revenge on sale tonight, I'll make the time to assemble that set too.

My gaming backlog is around 100. I have brand new releases still sealed and awaiting my attention. Don't even get me started on my board games and 40k miniatures that need painting.

Not enough time!

Just curious - how many of you guys are "only children?"

I have a theory that an only child is more apt to be a LEGO fan because they grew up having to entertain themselves often.

A lot of my friends just don't have the patience to grab a beer and sit at a table for a few hours building away.

Nope. Have a brother. He posts in this thread too... also a lifetime LEGO fan

Also: lol.... last try.

Talking about hairpieces... I need to find one resembling this:

This one seems closest.... but it also seems a bit over the top (too much hair)

Does LEGO gaf have any alternative suggestions? What is best hair for a clone trooper? :D

I have an older sister and younger brother. Also, I'm an engineer...That plays a role I think.

My parents also bought me Lincoln Logs, Erector sets, K'Nex, and LEGO sets for birthdays/Christmas all the time. I grew up on it and have always LOVED the thrill of creating.

Well I had a sister two years my junior. So I break your rule ;)
But to be honest I often wonder what some of my friends get up to in the evening. I always have stuff to entertain myself, but some I think just vegetate in front of the tv turning into zombies.

Ps: I'm also an engineer

yea this damn thread moves too fast ;)
But I cannot help you, sorry.

Youngest of 7. Some of the Lego I had growing up was passed down from my brothers. Number 3 of the 7 also is still very involved in Lego. He has had one of his MOCs featured in a couple Lego stores in California.

Entire family has always been creative artistically, design oriented, or engineers. Heh. I think we are seeing the common themes.

Only child, but most people say I act like I have siblings - due to me being around my cousins so much (mom's side of the family is extremely close). So naturally, I got many hand-me-down LEGO sets from older cousins.

I am, just to keep your theory going :)

Have a younger brother here. The first toys I remember us playing with were Lego and Lincoln Log. My brother's not actively into Lego anymore, but he likes seeing my recent builds. I may try to lure him back with the VW van. I think he'd dig it.

As for me, Lego's always been a hobby, but now that I'm in my 30s, the big draw to building is that I find it's very therapeutic. Relaxing, stress-free, and there's something awesome to show for it when it's done!

yep. It's so damn satisfying to click those little bricks into place :)

Agreed. But the Quinjet was my first introduction to the orange LEGO tool and seriously, as someone who can still pry the bricks apart with no fingernails - WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE DAMMIT?!

Granted, I still use my barely-there nails to pry bricks apart like an idiot now as I did then as a kid.

Could not agree more with this. I also absolutely love solving lego-problems. It feels like a mini engineering task when you run into something that seems impossible at first.

Just went to the Lego store up in Austin. So much stuff I want! Ended up getting the Hulk Breakout set, the Cap cycle, and the Catwoman Chase plus 4 series 7 minifigs.

I opened one because my sister wanted the bride and it was. I know for sure one is the computer programmer and one is the Valkyrie.
