Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

I'm always down for more Trackmania. Since Shootmania's trailer was released, there's a very very small excuse to play it. Do it Bombers. Do it!

Just looked at Patrick's Twitter.

Unclear why there is a copy of Seaman 2 on my desk. No one at Giant Bomb knows why, either.

For anyone who thinks GB is overly deferential to publishers in the midst of criticism, go to Klepek's Twitter page and look at the conversation he's had with Arthur Gies today. What an asshole.

They both make a reasonable point though. Arthur is right that it isn't really going away, and Patrick is correct that it sucks.

Stephen Totilo is incorrect about Xbox not requiring an online connection to play certain games though during that same conversation. He should unplug his system from the network and just spend a few minutes loading up various XBLA titles to play "single player offline". The results may surprise him on several titles. Unless he is speaking -purely- about disc retail releases, to which he may actually be correct.

Yet more proof Gies is an utter cunt.

Good on Patrick.

I already had to unfollow Phil Kollar because he kept mentioning that blight on videogame journalism, and Kevin VanOrd keeps babbling about him, apparently oblivious of the fact Gies basically called him and every other reviewer who gave high scores to Dark Souls & Vanquish unprofessional fanboys.

Man, I wonder if Gies is such an insufferable douche with his friends too. Jesus.
Kudos to Tricky and Hot Scoops though.

To be fair he doesn't say take it up the ass. He basically says walk away but don't open your mouth.

I thought he was basically saying to vote with your wallet. If you don't like the fact that Diablo 3 requires a constant connection, then don't buy it. In that sense, I kind of agree with him.

The problem is that he's being real dismissive and condescending.

Listen to RebelFM. Proof that he is right there.

Though I wouldn't actually suggest doing that. Just take my word for it!

Yeah. I donated to RebelFM and then just dropped it completely because of Gies and stop following people on twitter who'd keep RTing him. He comes off genuinely awful and I'm glad that he's not part of anything I frequent because I would no longer.

I'll be curious if GB tries to get Rich on-board. I think he's one of the few people out there who would really gel with the group.

Although, if he stays on the East Coast it may be difficult.

I'm not sure what role he'd fill to be honest. They should probably work on getting their new thing in order before taking on more old friends.

Rich has been working in development for what, six years? I can't really see him moving back to editorial after this long.

I hope he makes it out of this okay, though. Him and Ben Coello both.

I see on my twitter stream that their are actually a lot of jobs on the east coast from other devs in the area so I think he will be alright but still at least now that he has some time.
COME OUT TO E3 and do the show with them.

Also Rich has always been a video producer and since that is the main focus of the website he could host and video produce no prob.

I'm sure he's talking about Gies. The why criticize line is fucking hilarious.

"If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all" is a great attitude for a professional writer.

The rare occasion where I'm exposed to game journalists other than guys like GFW, Giant Bomb, and Idle Thumbs just reminds me that 90% of them are insufferable.

Also, last week, whoever said TNT has become the new Happy Hour is 100% correct. Just switch it to once a month, or put some more effort into deciding the games. If there isn't a natural fit for that week, do something crazy like Moonbase Alpha(the NASA made Moon MMO) or do more old shit like Quake.

I'd really love to see them eventually follow up on the SNES and Saturn Friday shows with one dedicated to the Dreamcast.
They did dreamcast day on 9/9/2009

I would love NES or N64 day/marathon, but for now everything is E3 mode so we will have to bare with them.

At a "normal" website you have editors who do content and than managing editors who do E3 stuff but they do everything them selfs so that will effect content and time to do content its as simple as that.
