Yeah, but then I remembered that using the word cunt to Americans is like raping the corpse of said person's grandmother at Thanksgiving.

where will you be in China?

for instance in Shanghai this place:

http://www.ixingmei.com/

shows contemporary Chinese films and a scattering of several month old/half year old Western movies.

it's next to the Lujiazui metro stop on the green2 line.

Few more which I believe have not been made into avatars.

Beijing until end of July. If my Chinese wasn't so terrible I could probably figure it out somehow on Baidu or something. Is there some sort of imdb or movies.yahoo.com type website in English I could use to look up release dates?

I suggest going to google maps, typing in "beijing china movie theater" and then going onto the official sites of those movie theaters that do pop up and comparing. to me this is easier then going to google, typing in movies, then going to the first result, in the box in the upper left typing in "beijing, china" and then seeing all the chinese showtimes. if you have a good translation app it'd be easy

Alrighty, thanks. I asked a coworker who's usually up to date on movies but she just said "sometime in the second half of the year", whatever that means. I guess it'll come out when it comes out and I'll just have to keep a lookout for the ads.

I know this has been asked many times...

but my friend and I have been arguing

he thinks this is some kind of prequel to Alien

I tell him he is stupidly wrong

who is right

In terms of strict continuity? Your friend, probably.

In terms of thematic DNA? Your friend, definitely.

If all "prequel" means is that it exists in the same universe, and occurs chronologically prior to the film in question, then he's right and Prometheus is a prequel.

If "prequel" means that the movie details the series of events that lead to a space jockey ship full of eggs with John Hurt in it, and features Xenomorphs hunting down crew members of the Prometheus one by one, then you're right and it's not a prequel at all.

When I say "direct prequel" I mean that these events do not directly lead into Alien. I think some people think this is what happens right before the Alien film.

thank you :)

Is this being marketed anywhere as an Aliens film? A TV spot aired heaps during a recent football game here in Australia and when I quizzed my friends on whether or not we want to marathon the Aliens series before seing it they all were confused as to why.

Even my father, a decent fan of the Alien quadrilogy, was unaware this was an Aliens prequel when I asked him if he wanted to see it.

They're doing a great job marketing it without explaining too much. Also, the trailer in 3D is the best looking 3D I've seen thus far.

Not that i know of... but there are some key images and sounds from the Alien movies (and trailer) that appear... I think they expected fans to pick up on them.

I would also be confused if you told me Prometheus was an Aliens prequel, since Alien is.

LOLOLOLOLOL!

You are just too much :P

This is true. What do you guys make of the vibe? I certainly would have gotten the idea of it being an Aliens franchise title after seeing the 'briefing' room in the theatrical trailer as it is similar to the one in AVP (don't hate, I know it's not worthy of being regarded as part of the franchise!).

well if you believe Wiki's current writings Prometheus comes from the ashes of the Scott/Cameron prequel that got sidelined in favor of AvP. Cameron went his own way in the 21st century I suppose - Scott gave us several films.

Can't wait for Promethei and Blade Runner 2

Scott/Cameron Alien 5 you mean. It was never a prequel. It was a sequel.
