UK LEGO GAF - The Avengers 'Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout' set is just £24 in Tesco. That's half price. Marked at £49.99 on the shelf, but scans at the reduced price. My local (one of the larger Extras) had a cardboard stand with the last one, not on the actual LEGO shelves.
The Minecraft set is available to purchase on Amazon now for $35.

Are you looking to buy the actual Mindstorms sets or just looking to buy Technic sets? Mindstorms stuff is rarely discounted since it's for education. Amazon or the actual Lego retail stores would be the best bet for Technic since most retail stores don't really carry them.
I think when I was at Kmart yesterday, the sign for the extra 50% Off Clearance was only until the 28th. So you might be a day late.
Anybody correct this if I am wrong!

Went to my local TRU today to browse around. They had all of the new Monster Hunter, Creator & LotR sets. Damn, the TRU tax on the LotR sets is absurd.
I was very tempted to pick up some set, anything. But I'll be at the Santa Clara Lego store this Friday. I can wait until then... I think.

It's not that great though I don't have the space villain and elf archer yet. Should've done a series 1 set though. Still missing out on that Spartan Warrior
Ah, well we didn't get into Lego (or back into it I suppose for me) until this last year, so most of that stuff will be pretty new for us.
My four year old and I just finished the 4208 Fire Truck that he got from his Uncle as a birthday present - what a cool little set. The truck is robust as hell and the tree is really quite nifty (a lot different to the old triangle shaped ones!) and it seems like a lot of parts for the price. Kieran is now keen on spending his birthday money on the Fire ATV (4427) to go with it.

If he likes Mindstorms, NXT is an awesome set. If he likes seeing things "work", technic is the clear choice. Otherwise, any System set that he likes is legit.
As for where, Lego store offers VIP club that earns points for discounts. Otherwise, anywhere but TRU is fine.
Does anyone know of good deals on Mindstorms NXT?

I built the Batcave earlier today. As far as the playsets go, it's pretty damn cool.
I also checked a couple Kmarts and didn't find any decent sets on clearance. At this point, I'm probably just going to wait until the next wave of Star Wars sets and that Spider-Man set start showing up in stores before I buy any more.

Sad day indeed for me, but I'm selling all my LEGO's on Craigslist, just no where to put them anymore and I need the money. If anyone in the Seattle area is interested, here's my posting. I'd also be negotiable with any GAF'ers

How does LEGO GAF feel about the Hero Factory line?
I grabbed these two on a whim. I'm weak for cool looking robots >_>

Overall, pretty awesome. I'll probably pick up a few more when I see them on sale. I realize these are not the typical LEGO sets but personally I like them better.

I tend to ignore it, just as I did with Bionicle. I'm sure they are fun builds, but as nicoga said, not my cup of tea.

Very tempting. But it's a playset, I'd have no where to place it and playsets just aren't my style.
Except for the upcoming Spider-man set, I'll make an exception for that one!

So I've bought my first modular set - the Grand Emporium. Should arrive in a couple of weeks.
Now, I've read on LegoGAF that it's wise to pick up the Fire Brigade soon since it could go out of print. But my preference is to get the Town Hall next. I'm budgeting to pick up one modular set a month.
Is the Fire Brigade going OOP imminent or is it safe to presume I've got a few months?

I would not assume the Fire Brigade is safe - it is in a weird place right now, where I would not be surprised if it it suddenly went OOP any day now.
Town Hall just came out this year, so if you are planning on getting them all, I would get it last.
LEGO Minecraft is "shipping soon"; that was fast.

Cool. I only have one of those, and the ELF goes for $10 easily on eBay. Worth it.
