I'm watching in 2D. 3D isn't for me at all. People have told me my opinion is wrong though, so there's that...

Don't feel so lonely, 3D movies really trouble me, the image lose in contrasts and I feel a general fatigue after about 30 minutes (and not only an eye fatigue).

This is disruptive because I feel I'm not enjoying the movie as much as I would have in 2D

So, for Prometheus, I am intentionally avoiding the 2 big cinemas close-by (and playing it only in 3D) to go further to a small cinema that plays it in 2D.

I expect a Rottenscore of 93% and a metacritic of 82

Why so specific?

Personally my expectations for this film are rock bottom that way I'm sure to like the film even if it's not very good.

I feel that this is a sensible approach that most people should adopt.

And I just hope I like the movie, lol

Ridley Scott doing sci-fi? Check.

Looks like Alien? Check.

Hot Charlize Theron? Check.

Hot Noomi Rapace? Check.

Hot Idris Elba? Check.

Hot Michael Fassbender? Check.

Hot space jockeys? Check.

It will be the greatest movie ever written.

I was being flippant more than anything, but I think it'll be high scoring. A lot of things coming together just make me think it'll be well received.

I couldn't give a fuck how it is, just playing an alternative to box office games I suppose!

I think the critic scores will be good enough. I just hope it makes a great killing at the box office to secure sequels and really open up the field to similar films. The last science fiction film I can remember that has Prometheus type vibes is Sunshine.

Plot is going to be leaking out all over the net today i would imagine so i think its time to bailout.gif (tickets are booked for Cardiff Liemax on Friday)

Who cares? RT can suck a dick.

Forget what we were watching last night, lots of flipping around, but saw a Prometheus commercial that seemed designed only to explicitly describe what I thought must be a major spoiler. Maybe it isn't to some, but I won't tempt anyone with it here, watch out though for that cm.

Someone on AVPGalaxy saw the film today:

He said its good until the last 20 minutes and then it veers off into a bit of a mess.

he also said
a number of scenes we know about were cut in the theater version

I don't know if its legit but people think it is.

NOTE: I won't post the full review here because I don't want anyone to accidently click it all. the spoiler section above is actually not a spoiler but i want to keep the excitement up

So, Lost?

DONT CLICK IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SPOILED!!! you have been warned. This person attended the May 28th screening (Today) of Prometheus.

Again: You have been warned. He is discussing the movie in that thread.

How spoilery is it?

Edit: Fuck it, I read his review. That dude types horribly. And
he's borderline crying.

Jesus Christ there's some spoilers in this thread (skimming random pages). X'ing that page.

He seems to be pretty disappointed but I'm not going to read spoilers to find out why. I don't really care about the bridge between this and Alien though, so if it's a fandom thing then whatever.

They've been making it pretty clear for a while now that it's not a prequel in any sense, though it's set in the same universe. I can't think of a worse person to review a movie than an Alien fanboy, so I'm going to wait for something more objective - my own opinion come 3am on Friday morning.

That sounds like some Grade A Lindelof Lost bullshit.

I hope he's wrong about the last 20 minutes going to shit.

As sculli has pointed out, liemax provides better 3D than true IMAX screens, that is why IMAX is not good in this scenario.

I haven't actually watched any 3D films with a Liemax screen, It's either real IMAX or UltraAVX using RealD 3D. I'm guessing Liemax does not use RealD 3D at all and the 3D effect is more like real IMAX but on a smaller screen with a brighter/sharper picture? I assume that while the image will not take up an entire real IMAX screen due to it not having any scenes shot in IMAX, a real IMAX screen would still provide a larger picture (more immersive) than Liemax.

Liemax is RealD in most of my experiences.
