Does PS Vita exist / Lack of Vita games at E3

The almost total lack of Vita announcements was pretty disappointing. I'm leaning more towards just getting a PSP at this point for the Tales game and a few other RPG gems.

Where is FF Type-0?
Yes, where is this? If they were going to announce a localization for it, I would've expected it to be somewhere in Sony's presser. Or in a PR. Or something.

I'm happy about AC3:L, but talk about dropping the ball...

At least Nintendo did a decent job of salvaging the 3DS. Sony's not really doing anything.

I don't know if I just had high expectations, but I'm disappointed that the Vita is just getting portable versions of big franchises, instead of just ports of the actual game.

If Sony really wanted to sell the Vita, games like Assassins Creed III and Call of Duty would be direct ports of the console games, with cross platform play.

I dont think so, because people would just buy the PS3 versions. Vita can have some similar franchise games, but they need to be different enough to offer a unique gameplay experience. And i'm not talking about touch controls either.

EDIT: They didnt even show any new Silent Hill Book of Memories footage or SF X T.

I guess my Vita will forever be the handheld I just play Lumines on. Other than the price I paid for the game and the hardware, and the 32 gig card I stupidly bought, I don't mind. I love Lumines. I feel bad for my handheld though. I don't know what I expected more from Sony, but I did.

I imagine it's a real bummer to someone that invested in one, but as someone that was going to buy one just to play Sound Shapes? Par-tay.

I take it all the Vita is getting is miniature spinoffs of existing IPs. That's great and all considering they are new games exclusive to Vita, but that's not enough. I've yet to see an interesting game that doesn't stem from an IP released on a console...

I would love if I could play AC3 at home on my PS3, then head off to work, and continue my progress on my Vita during my lunch break at the office.

But you are probably right, I'm sure I'm in the minority, and most people wouldn't be willing to double dip on games just for that functionality.

damn, I could only get $150 out of mine... but oh well, did some more useful things with that cash, like, I bought a new vacuum cleaner.

seriously, what a disappointment. and I was actually worried that the conference would make me regret selling it.

Holy shit this post makes me sad at the ineptitude of SCE:'(

The general lack of Vita was pretty depressing. But I'm probably going to buy that White AC bundle anyway just to play that and Persona 4. And all the PSP games I've missed out on. I figure that should be enough to get my money's worth.

If Nintendo announces a 3DS with dual sticks, bigger screen, and bigger battery tomorrow, they can kill the Vita for good right then and there.

Also what the heck happened to that Mielke Vita hype tease???

That's the best thing they can do. Vita needs these powerful brands with unique, exclusive spinoffs. You can make new IPs if there is a somewhat decent install base.

Gravity Rush.

Wow, people are really overreacting here. It has been 4 months.

Not to be Debbie Downer or anything here but 4 months of a handheld's life where said handheld is struggling and one of those months also happens to hold the biggest game conference in the world today yet no new titles are announced is pretty bad.

I never thought this thing would have a worse launch than the 3DS did...but it does. And no Nintendo 1st parties to print any money for them. This should have been the time where they tried to revitalize interest.

Except E3 is where they show games in the pipeline for the system. They showed almost nothing. When 3DS was tanking they came back with a killer E3 showing. Sony showed garbage.

I was hoping E3 would have games that would get me to purchase a Vita. Reading how some of you want to sell the damn thing after what was shown makes me glad I waited.

They're kinda fucked. I was really expecting a blowout today. We got NOTHING. Ass Creed and COD aren't going to do shit.

Yes, because Sony controls Ubisoft and Activision.

I guess there really isn't much in the pipeline for the system. Really does look like it is dying. Would explain why Sly 4, and Sony all stars sudden got ported to Vita...

I'm fairly certain Sony has given up on the Vita. Their stocks are at the lowest in over 20 years. The stockholders would probably be better served if they just cut their losses right now.

Exactly. I wasn't worried before, now I am.

Unless it transformed into a 3DS game?! You know, I would be happy enough to be given the chance to play it but I would really prefer a Vita version with its twin sticks and bigger screen :/

AC3 was unexpected, it looks pretty decent. Might look into it. I would have laughed hard if someone told me this was going to be the only Vita game to be shown though.

Agreed, Nintendo was quick to address and turn things around. Though I'm don't remember how they handled it on their first E3 after it was launched worldwide.

They could've announced SOMETHING that was coming out for it this year or even early next year, though.

James Mielke? Sony PR mouthpiece extraordinaire? That Mielke?

People are in denial if they think not announcing stuff and "waiting for Gamescom" is a viable answer to this.

E3 is, without a doubt, the biggest single show in gaming.

They didn't even give us a giant list of stuff we're going to see for Vita, they just went, 60 games this year, some of them digital. This is not the way to shore up your base.

The vita is outdated and out of time.

The mass market has moved on. They expect something compeltely different now. Not the GBA or PSP of the past. This is Sony's major problem that they can't overcome; forward thinking products. It took Apple a big gamble to break the preconceptions of a phone/pda and now you see everyone copying that model(Pardon the pun). Sony on the otherhand does not have that far out thinking that they once did. I don't want a Vita. Does it look cool? Sure! Is it powerful? Sure! But where is the software? Why would I spend $300+ for a dedicated device that cannot really offer me anything more than just games? And more specifically, why spend that much money on a device with very few games and support?

Nintendo barely saved themselves with the 3DS by price slashing because even they recognized that very few people want to pay that much for just a handheld gaming device. Where's the Netflix? Facebook? Twitter? Instagram? I mean, it's only now that Youtube is coming out on the device. Youtube! The thing that's been ported to even calendars!

Sony needs to wake up bad. Software, software, software! That is what drives platforms. Yes the technical aspects are nice and we all like new hardware. But there is simply no point in purchasing such an expensive paperweight that plays ports and is so limited in 2012. I recall that Steve Ballmer gif of him jumping around about "Developers, developers, developers". We all had a hoot about it. But that's one thing that Microsoft truly understood and used very well to cripple Sony this gen.

Yet here we are with Sony. Yet again. Heavily delayed PS1 classics, barely any new IP's for the platform, next to no apps...if I were interested in a handheld strictly for gaming; I'd rather buy a 3DS.

Yeh us Vita owners really got screwed at this conference. I mean get this there was not even a single first party announcement that was not a PS3 port for the Vita!!!! Jesus, I kinda expected an Infamous Vita, even a Twisted Metal, anything!

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

If you port a game, people complain that it's just a port, why would anyone buy it over the console version?
